We asked Shafat Qazi, CEO and Founder of BQE Software, a few questions about his company and his view of the markets they serve.
GETAPP.COM: Who are you and what is your role in the company?
QAZI: I’m the CEO and Founder of BQE Software.
GETAPP.COM: Can you briefly present your management team?
QAZI: The BQE Software management team is an assembly of innovative, seasoned professionals. Its leaders have extensive knowledge of the domain served. GETAPP.COM: Are you a cloud or a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company?
QAZI: We at BQE Software develop for a variety of technologies including desktop, browser and mobile. Our Family of products provides a flexible solution that scales to meet the demands of any business size—from a single person to a global firm. Within this product family, BillQuick Online is the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application. It can work on various browsers and devices like iPad, iPhone, etc.
GETAPP.COM: How do you promote the use of Cloud Computing?
QAZI: I use our cloud product on a daily basis. When I had my engineering firm I got in the habit of tracking my time, and that continues to this day. The difference is now I use BillQuick Online to track my time along with the BillQuick Mobile app when traveling. BillQuick Mobile is our time and expense mobile application for iPhone® or Android™ devices. It’s very simple and easy to use.
In regards to how we promote our cloud technology, we educate our customers about the benefits of moving to the cloud and I speak at many industry events. Additionally, we recognize that it is our responsibility to not only provide new technologies but also help companies transfer to the new technology. This is why we provide two options BillQuick Online as SaaS, and Web Suite as client-hosted version.
For businesses, who may not be ready for BillQuick Online, we suggest our client-hosted solution—Web Suite. It provides the security of our desktop and along with the mobility of a cloud product.
GETAPP.COM: What are the points of difference of your solutions?
QAZI: There are several things that set our products apart from others on the market. First, our applications are designed for the professional services industry. That focus is reflected in our approach to developing time tracking, billing, project management and business intelligence features.
Second, with BillQuick Online and Web Suite, we give firms solutions to make their workforce mobile in way that meets their specific needs and comfort level.
Third, we place a premium on creating a frictionless experience for our customers which evokes an “it just works” sentiment. Minimal effort is required. When they enter time and expenses via BillQuick Mobile, it automatically syncs the information with the server. A customer can even enter information without a data connection. When the app detects the signal, it will automatically sync the data. This ensures an employee can capture billable time and expense when it’s convenient for them.
Our products are also scalable and capable of meeting the demands of any firm size—from a single person to a global firm.
GETAPP.COM: How would you like to be evaluated by a prospect?
QAZI: I’d like prospects to look at BQE not just as a company that sells them software but as a partner. I say this because by offering training and other services, we aid our customers in their ongoing tasks of finding better ways to improve their processes for handling time, billing and project management.
We also act as a partner with our customers by continuously listening to them and incorporating that input into our products. We recently released BillQuick 2012 with over 200 features and enhancements requested by our customers. A few of our favorite requests were Project Center, Overtime Calculator, Memorized Filters and Multi-Currency Expense Sheets. This partnership not only makes our products better but it ensures that our customers get a product that evolves with them.
Our relationship doesn’t end after the sale is made.
GETAPP.COM: Why do your customers buy from you?
QAZI: One of the main reasons our customers buy from us is because our products are so adaptable, each industry feels BillQuick was built for them. When you set up BillQuick, it asks what industry you work in. Based on your response, it adapts it features and terminology to that industry. For example, each industry refers to projects differently. Projects would be referred to as matters for attorneys, engagements for accountants, and projects for architects and engineers. BillQuick changes every place these words are used in the program to reflect the user’s terminology.
Another reason is that we are partners with them. In BillQuick 2012, there are over 200 features and enhancements requested by our customers. We listen to our customer but also ensure that we are constantly adding to our products in ways that help their business be more successful. Even though we’ve been in business for over 16 years, we reinvent ourselves every 12 months with cutting-edge technology that helps our customers embrace the latest advances without disruption.
GETAPP.COM: Can you mention some of your key clients?
QAZI: Some of our more recognizable clients include Credit Suisse, Amtrak, Williams Company, Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Environmental Conservation, State of Alaska.
GETAPP.COM: What do you see as the key trend emerging in the industry?
QAZI: There are several emerging trends in the industry. One of the biggest is a monumental shift to tablet and mobile computing. Increasingly, application design is more focused on creating low friction, high performance solutions. In addition, more applications are being designed for new entry methods such as touch and movement.
GETAPP.COM: What is THE most important message you feel you should get across to someone considering buying your solutions?
QAZI: Our solutions are developed with the highest emphasis on returning high ROI and making our customer’s life easier. We provide unique features that allow business owners and managers to make decisions with confidence, to eliminate friction in their processes and to help win new business.
