Awesome for multifaceted swimlanesKelly Hair28th of March, 2014 17:21
I can't say enough good things about Leankit. Only issue was that it took me an hour to grasp the UI with splitting horizontal & vertical swimlanes. However, once I had that down, I saw the power of being able to visually represent what I wanted to with the tool. Granted, I'm not using it for kanban per say, I'm using it for customer/prospect management primarily. In a single pane of glass, I was able to represented 30 different customers/prospects, where these customers stood relative to our core values & categories for developing the market. I know this is not software development... pivoting a bit here... Big proponent of this tool. Glad my company forced it upon me because it's a huge improvement over the rather simple, but go to tool, Trello. Trello still has its place but it seems arcane all of a sudden.

This application allows you to move from a chaotic approach to customer service to an organised one. Links to JIRA as well so it actually compliments rather than replaces it.
LeanKit is a software-based visual management tool relying on Kanban systems. The tool allows users to visualize work and workflow processes, get real-time updates about the activity and status of various tasks and the ability to spot areas where processes can be further improved.
The product covers the needs of any project or process -- no matter how complex -- and meets the needs of organizations from all industry sectors.
LeanKit uses a whiteboard metaphor that users populate with cards that visualize their work within their team’s workflow. Accessible on any web-enabled device, LeanKit connects teams of all sizes, providing a shared understanding of the details and status of work items -- regardless of location. Lean metrics and reports help organizations assess performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
LeanKit is designed to support organizations scaling Kanban across multiple teams, projects and locations. It enables organizations to connect boards at the portfolio, project and team levels, providing everyone with the right level of visibility to assess project status and manage dependencies.
With LeanKit, users can easily monitor team-level execution, keep track of subtasks for each work item and even get automatically generated diagrams representing various effectiveness-critical data values and metrics.
LeanKit can use the data you input in cards and gather all related factors under a common metrics platform offering automatic metrics and visual report generations of various types and fits for different purposes.
This can help easily identify improvement opportunities, share professional graphical reports of various interesting parts of the workflow with your customers, employees and collaborators, and evaluate the overall efficiency of your company, or the productiveness of a specific department.
By enabling you to model your own process, LeanKit provides a deeply informative, consolidated view of your work and workflow. This visibility of your process — as well as of your work items, blockers, bottlenecks and expedites — presents your team with a shared understanding of activity and status.
Work item specifics can be easily set through every card's "edit details" option, where you can add textual information like title, description and external links, as well as visual card icons for information like priority, assigned users, deadlines, and tags.
Whether you're an onsite team or distributed around the world, LeanKit's collaboration features help you stay informed and up to date. LeanKit connects everyone together in real time and across all devices, offering an equally seamless ability to perform any task, such as checking the status of a card, updating, or even making comments on it. Members can work individually or in teams with multi-user assignments and by the means of comment threads.
LeanKit can cover the needs of a wide spectrum of different departments, roles, company sizes and industry sectors, while also remaining fully compatible with many popular related services that are integrated and can have their data imported.
Using LeanKit's tiered board approach, organizations can visualize their strategic initiatives at a high level and then drill down to track implementation details. The scalable platform supports as many users, projects and locations as needed.
As an enterprise Kanban tool, LeanKit offers built-in, advanced Kanban features such as policies, class of service, WIP limits and board templates.
This makes it possible to not only improve the flow of your work and increase efficiency but also support continuous improvement at the team and organizational levels.
LeanKit helps you visualize "buried" data in other tools by offering pre-built integrations between LeanKit and software such as Microsoft’s Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio Online, and Project Server; GitHub and Oracle Primavera.
In addition to this, LeanKit comes with Zapier integrated. This means that over 300 online service applications are supported. Some examples are Google, Salesforce, Zendesk, Emma and Hubspot.
LeanKit is available in three different product editions. Basic, Team and Portfolio. Basic is free to use but is limited to 3 kanban boards and up to ten users. The Team costs 15 usd per user per month, it offers unlimited number of boards, data import/export and automated metrics. The portfolio package costs 19 usd per user per month and comes with multi-level boards, global search tool, advanced metrics and reports, and pre-built integrations.
