Add-free alternative to Google Apps
by Clayton on 2010-11-09 12:52:53

if you want an easy way to build docs online and share with the rest of tour team, Zoho docs is a great fit. It has all the basic functionality for that king of suites (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations), it is free to use and add-free.

Ease of deployment:

Pros: very intuitive, hassle free add-free Google apps integration, single sign-on easy set up rich media (music, pictures, videos) upload unlimited number of users for sharing

Cons: 1GB of space maybe be small for some businesses but upgrade is cheap need to switch to Zoho writer for a complete editor limited programming/macro in spreadsheets need for yahoo or google email address for sharing

Best Uses: probably the best free productivity suite for small businesses. If you don´t want to pay and are not keen on seeing ads, it is a no brainer.

Review for Fastback DR

It´s comforting to know that your data is safe
by Lloyd Koch on 2011-11-28 11:09:36

Fastback DR is my first data protection software and I would like to recommend other small businesses to have it as well. It´s comforting to know that your data won´t be lost in case our system fails. Fastback DR protects your data around the clock and it carries out a data deduplication which reduces the amount of storage space required. Since we use Fastback our disaster recovery planning has become much easier.

Review for NovaBACKUP

Highly capable with many extra features
by Linda Rossi on 2011-12-08 17:56:00

NovaBACKUP is a backup program that we have been using for 8 months now. Users can choose either a backup wizard or manual configuration of setting which I consider very user friendly. For beginners the usage of the Wizard and the definition of the backup sets might be a little bit confusing. But this is something you need to figure out one time and then the usage of the software is easy to manage. There are four different types of backups: Full, Incremental, Differential and "Snap Shot". I think that offering these different types is a very useful feature. One of the advantages that this software offers is the great array of features and options.

Pros: Very reliable program Online website support

Cons: Some of the settings are confusing for beginners

Best Uses: Small or medium sized businesses

Review for Nomadesk

My Favorite App
by cmsi2i on 2010-01-19 12:34:40

About a year ago, I was using Google Apps to collaborate and store large files that were too cumbersome to email. I hit many limitations...especially when it came to formatting in my Powerpoint presentations. Then I found out about Nomadesk. Nomadesk not only supports every application, so my formatting issues were gone, but it makes collaboration, synchronization, backup and storage easy and safe. I pretty much use it, not just for large files, but for all of my files. I have set up team file servers for each of my clients and I have a personal file server as well. I can share with unlimited team members! All of my work is backed up automatically and I can rest assured that if anything ever happened to my laptop while traveling that I can remotely shred all of my important docs. These virtual file servers allow me to work both online and offline, so I don't have to rely on an internet connection. Overall, Nomadesk has brought tremendous efficiencies and peace of mind to my business.

Overall rating:

Cons: Team members have ability to move, change files.

Review for OffiSync Premium

OffiSync really does integrate MS Office and Google Apps
by Josie on 2010-05-06 10:26:47

The product is amazing. OffiSync is easy to install and easy to use. It's features look and feel like MS Office, but with the capabilities of Google Apps behind the scene. Instead of bouncing back and forth between the Google Apps web interface, My Computer, and MS Word, I can find, open, share, and save documents from inside Word and Excel.

Overall rating:
Ease of use:
Features:
Value for money:
Ease of deployment:

Pros: Easy to use Saves MS Office files in native formats with Google Apps Premier Edition Real-time collaboration from within Word and Excel via co-authoring No need to upgrade from Office 2003 or 2007 to 2010 to get the collaboration features

Cons: When co-authoring between MS Word and Google Documents, the user in Google Docs does not get a pop-up display when the MS Word author saves changes.

Best Uses: We use it to share documents without having to VPN into our file server when we are on the road. We also use co-authoring instead of paying for WebEx sessions.

Review Context: I am a business manager and owner.

Review for Crate

Crate is to sharing files, what Dropbox is to storing them.
by Paul Hontz on 2011-03-02 23:45:40

Crate is to sharing files, what Dropbox is to storing them. Crate allows users to upload files to its servers (even big files that would choke your email inbox). When that is complete Crate gives you a URL to share with your friends. The user interface is very intuitive and if you ever used Gmail’s drag and drop attachment tool then you already know how to use Crate. I’ve been blown away by the attention to detail in this app. Checkout the really short video we shot of Crate in action.

Overall rating:
Ease of use:
Features:
Value for money:
Ease of deployment:

Pros: How does it work? In a word, “beautifully”. The attention to detail is fantastic, and the animations are a nice touch. More importantly it works as advertised.

Cons: No native apps for Windows yet.

Best Uses: Sharing files with friends and colleagues.

Review for Apollo

User-friendly solution for small businesses
by Michele Nachum on 2011-12-13 07:30:20

Apollo is an easy-to-use solution that can affordably help any small business manage both basic CRM and project management functions. For people looking for a more robust CRM solution with email marketing and other search engine optimization capabilities – this is probably not your solution. If you are looking for a project management solution that can also help you invoice and provide estimates to clients as well as manage your projects - this is not that type of solution either. Apollo does a great job doing what it does best – providing a solution to organize your tasks and projects, and centrally manage clients, colleagues and other contacts.
