Review for HyperOffice

Do not purchase HyperOffice for a Mac Environment

Quite simply, Hyperoffice does not function in a Mac environment. We've spent almost a year and a half of a three-year contract (prepaid in full to get a discounted rate) attempting to get the promised functionalities working. Many if not most were never achieved. In retrospect, we are now out several thousand dollars, together with the value of countless hours lost in frustration, attempting to run an efficient business. Support personnel were well intentioned, but clearly could not follow through on promises made by the sales side. There has never been any admission of responsibility for the shortcomings of the product or our resulting losses. All efforts at reaching a reasonable resolution to get some of our money back were met with a stunning and total silence.

Pros: Promised functionalities sounded great

Cons: Could not deliver promised functionalities in a mixed Mac-PC environment.

Review Context: We are a small consulting firm utilizing a number of geographically distant staff. We had hoped to utilize Hyperoffice for its promised collaboration tools.

I started using huddle a couple of months ago to manage a team of bloggers. The team is spread out accross 3 time zones and huddle.net was the easiest way for us to work together, share ideas and documents.

Pros: Easy to implement, cost effective, no need to email the group, white board for brainstorming

Cons: The free account is ad supported

Best Uses: We use it to upload our new posts, images, invoices and group announcements. We also use the white board to flush out blog post topics

Review for Zoho Docs

Add-free alternative to Google Apps

if you want an easy way to build docs online and share with the rest of tour team, Zoho docs is a great fit. It has all the basic functionality for that king of suites (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations), it is free to use and add-free.

Pros: very intuitive, hassle free add-free Google apps integration, single sign-on easy set up rich media (music, pictures, videos) upload unlimited number of users for sharing

Cons: 1GB of space maybe be small for some businesses but upgrade is cheap need to switch to Zoho writer for a complete editor limited programming/macro in spreadsheets need for yahoo or google email address for sharing

Best Uses: probably the best free productivity suite for small businesses. If you don´t want to pay and are not keen on seeing ads, it is a no brainer.

Powerful online tool!

Zoho Show is for me one of the best tools to create powerful presentations. There are pre-built themes, cliparts, and shapes that you can drag-and-drop which makes it very easy to use. Zoho Show enables users to share their presentations. Like this, you can give a presentation to a client or a partner located in another country. You can access presentations of other team members and view or edit them before they are sent out to the client. Zoho Show enables users to embed their presentations into a blog or a website.

Pros: - Web-based and very organized tool - Everybody can use the application for free

Cons: - In terms of pre-built themes I expected Zoho to be a little bit more innovative

Best Uses: For all types of users and enterprises

Managing your Business Documents Online

CNG Safe has extensive support documentation as well as a support forum, that includes a knowledge base and personalized support capability. The documentation is free and available on their website. Access to their support forum, however, is restricted to customers. Based on personal experience, I would recommend the solution. Why? Because efficient document management translates into satisfied employees which, in turn, translates into happy customers!

Free Online Project Management that Rocks

General opinion: free and easy online project & team management. Good intranet system for team communication (esp. in case of outsourcing).

Pros: Free and easy to set up. All needed features for communication are available: chat, blog, dashboards, announcements, forums etc. There are all basic features for online project management. No pain in the neck about setting up team accounts :)

Cons: Need more features for team polls processing & graphs for project management.

Best Uses: It's useful software for online team cooperation and management. TeamLab makes all inside bussiness processes transparent. All managers can see what's going on inside the team.
