"Buying Project Management Software Find a Vendor That Will Take the Time to Understand Your Business Processes” – Interview With Vadim Katcherovski, CEO and Founder of Easy Projects

We asked Vadim Katcherovski CEO and Co-Founder of Easy Projects, a few questions about his company and view of the markets they serve.

GetApp: Are you a Cloud or a Software-as-a-Service company?

Well, we're both. Easy Projects is a SaaS product that is run in a cloud.

GetApp:. How do you use and promote usage of Cloud Computing?

Internally we use over a dozen of cloud services to automate various parts of our business: billing, marketing, sales, etc. We also try to educate our prospects and customers about the benefits of cloud services by holding webinars and educational sessions. I'm happy to say that much more people are aware of the cloud computing and its advantages than 4-5 years ago. There is definitely a trend towards the cloud, especially in the IT and Marketing industries. Manufacturing and Health Care industries are more conservative and often prefer on-premise option (which we also offer).

GetApp: What are the points of difference of your solutions?

Easy Projects targets SMBs looking for an intuitive project management tool that is easy to implement and easy to use. Often these organizations don't have the time to learn a new tool and are limited in access to IT resources - Easy Projects solves this problem by providing customers with live support by phone, email, IM, and remote access support.

Here are some of our main differentiators:

  • All-in-One Product : Easy Projects features not just project management, but also time, issue, portfolio, change request and resources management modules. We believe that our customers should not have to pay for and learn how to use each of these functions separately, so we brought all the features together under a single umbrella.
  • Customer support : Unlike some well-known products on the market, our customers can actually talk to live people; and support isn't just limited to the phone: we also offer e-mail, instant messaging and remote access support.
  • Product Adoption program : When a customer places an order for Easy Projects, they're automatically enrolled into our Client Happiness program. It means free training classes, best practices white papers, implementation assistance and whatever else it takes to ensure successful roll-out and company-wide adoption of Easy Projects.

GetApp: How would you like to be evaluated by a prospect?

We find that our clients are the most successful, when they start their project management evaluation process with a goal and requirements discovery conversation, rather than just crossing of items in a check list. Quite often a constructive dialog with a qualified vendor can uncover previously unknown requirements and needs. It also ensures that the implementation process is aligned with the prospect's internal workflow.

In today's economy value for the money is really important and a lot of our clients appreciate the fact that Easy Projects is affordable and can pay for itself within 3-4 months.

To achieve that we provide a lot of consulting and educational services to our customers through our Client Happiness program, which includes implementation support, best practices webinars, free training programs and much more.

GetApp: Can you mention some of your key clients?

We have thousands of clients in over 50 countries across the globe. Here are just a few: Sanford Health, Blackboard, Staples, McKinsey & Company, Harvard University, UPS, GoodYear and many more.

GetApp: What do you see as the key trend emerging in the industry?

More and more products are coming to the cloud and the customers are getting much more comfortable with having their data reside in the cloud.

Also, there is a growing trend of phasing out the traditional perpetual license model and replacing it with the SaaS recurring billing. Adobe just moved this trend towards mainstream with its Creative Cloud offering.

GetApp: What is THE most important message you feel you should get across to someone considering buying your solutions?

Buying project management software is a very important decision. With hundreds of products on the market, it's easy to get blindsided by a flashy advertisement, cheap prices or vague generic promises. Make sure you find a vendor that will take the time to understand your business processes and workflows. You need to find a partner that will work with you beyond the initial sale and will act as trusted advisor to support, guide and mentor you through the best practices available for your industry.
