Cloud Business Intelligence & Analytics for Every Day Users

4.5/5 (15 reviews)
561     2,456

Chartio enables companies to combine data sources from multiple systems and databases together without storing a copy of your data. Systems that are currently supported include PostgreSQL, MySQL, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Salesforce, Google Analytics, and Twilio.

Users are able to query data from each data source and combine them together into a single analysis or report. Chartio's intuitive interface enables any user to quickly and easily query data with its Chart Builder by using a drag and drop query generator or a SQL query editor (depending on user preference).

Chartio's Data Pipeline and Data Stores features allow users to build and store custom metrics, calculations, and data formats to generate the most meaningful data possible. Users can choose to display this information either in a table or by using Chartio's charting library for easier visual analysis.

Best analytics tool for a startup

17/02/2017

Chartio has been a game changer for our business analytics function. We chose to use it because of its ability to use raw SQL (making it incredibly flexible). There is a bit of a learning curve for non-technical ops people, but once you're over the hump, the functionality and insight into key metrics is unparalleled. Their customer service is top notch as well...always available and willing to help with specific use-case questions.

Pros

It integrates with Segment, so we can pull in data from many of our other end products/platforms

Cons

The ability to integrate dashboards into your own website is available, but the product itself in this form performs very poorly in this case. Chartio is much better used as a stand-alone product. If you want users across your company to view dashboard data without eating up "seats", your best option is to schedule static dashboards via email.

Chartio is the data analytics visualization I love more than any other

19/11/2016

I have only tried a handful of data viz tools, but thats because I stopped looking after finding chartio. I had bad experiences with their customer service - good luck with them - but I didn't find their product too be affected. I still use chartio and doubt I will be switching anytime soon because it is so easy to run queries, see the data results visually, then drill down deeper.

It just works as expected.

09/12/2015

Pros

Easy to use, both for building and viewing the dashboards. They release new features quite often and they just know what features I missed before.

Cons

I don't know who viewed my dashboards and when. It would be nice to have usage statistics.

Chartio is an easy to use product and it has connectors to almost every possible datasource. After more than 1 year of usage I'm really satisfied with it. As they don't store your data you pay based on number of users, not based on the amount of data. We moved away from GoodData due the raw limit.

Analyst to Executive - the only dashboarding tool we need

08/12/2015

Pros

Chartio is simply, simple. Regardless of whether you are a data scientist (me) or an executive (my co-founder), Chartio just lets you get the dashboard creation process done with least number of clicks. It's powerful enough for exploratory analysis and the user access controls makes controlling information an absolute breeze.

Cons

My only grime is not supporting a larger number of native integrations. Google Analytics, Salesforce and Segment are great however I'd like a few advertising and finance partners added.

Ability to visualize or get data without knowing SQL. It's fun and I feel like I'm learning how SQL frameworks work.

sometimes I want to get certain data but can't get it without doing SQL. The support team is great but I don't want to ping them every time.

Chartio review for Shazam

07/12/2015

Pros

Chartio is the fastest, easiest way to put an attractive front end on top of 'big data' like an Amazon Redshift instance. It's powerful enough to use SQL code to create dashboards, but flexible and easy enough to allow some end-users to create their own.

Cons

Nothing really, their customer support has been excellent, and the product has worked better than our expectations.

Give them a try, they wowed us with their demo (using real data) which was more impressive than a 3-month trial with a competitor.

GetApp Analysis

Knowledge is a powerful thing. With Chartio, businesses can increase their collective knowledge by putting company data front and center. This cloud-based business intelligence and analytics application unlocks business insights and provides everyday users with powerful analytics.

Innovative chart creation features enable Chartio users to capture information from any data source that’s attached, using a drag-and-drop interface or an SQL interface. At the same time, Data Layers enable Chartio users to blend together data from multiple sources, and data stores make it easy to join and aggregate data together. Chartio was designed for organizations of all sizes, and it’s available entirely through the cloud.

What is Chartio?

Chartio is a cloud-based business intelligence solution that turns data into insights and makes analytics tools available to everyone within an organization. Rather than sharing data with Excel spreadsheets, teams can use Chartio as a business intelligence dashboard or for improving in-house operations.

Chartio differentiates itself from competing solutions by being the only cloud-based business intelligence platform built for everyday business users. With simplicity and efficiency at the forefront, Chartio builds engaging analysis and dashboards that users can easily share with others inside or outside their organizations.

Chartio is a modern solution for business intelligence, and its user interface is designed in a way that allows any professional to begin using the platform with minimal training. The company charges an annual licensing fee, which include five free user licenses.

Main Features

Visually Analyze Data

Using the Data Pipeline, users can grab information from any cloud-based data source that's attached to their Chartio accounts. Chartio gives users the option to use a drag-and-drop interface, for less technical users, or an SQL interface. The SQL interface is most useful for users with technical backgrounds. With this same feature, users can apply Excel-like functions to create new metrics and calculations for analysis or charting.

Chartio's Data Pipeline allows users to start making sense of their organization's data. Users can switch between basic tables and more sophisticated data visualizations, and use filters to break data down into more manageable chunks. Chartio's "no-limits interface" allows users to drill down into charts with minimal configuration.

Join Data Sources

Data Stores allow the user to join data sources using multiple layers, and apply transformations, using the Data Pipeline interface to create new data sources. Users can blend disparate data, perform complex calculations, add custom columns, and join unrelated tables with absolutely no programming required.

Data sources can be blended within your browser using Chartio's web-based tools. Users can merge various types of data with a few clicks, and then chart the results of your actions automatically. Visit Chartio's library of formulas to dig even deeper into your data. Chartio allows the user to create their own columns, divide, and multiply data, all from within the browser.

Share Dashboards

Dashboards can be used to track virtually any metric over time. For example, organizations can create company revenue dashboards and sales dashboards. Chartio's dashboards work on any device, including smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers. Chartio users can subscribe to PDF reports of dashboards over email, which is a useful way to keep clients up-to-date.

Chartio funnels data into dashboards in real-time, based on the freshest information possible. As the user, you have the option to set permissions to control who has access to your data. You can also opt to share data with clients or bosses through scheduled email reports.

Collaborate with Colleagues

Rich collaboration features help Chartio stand apart from competing applications. With Chartio, teams are able to interact with datasets using permission-based accounts. Teams can also export charts and schedule reports to be shared inside or outside their organizations.

Users can set up permissions for their own organization's account, deciding which colleagues should be setup as Admins. Teammates can easily be invited to collaborate on a project. Because Chartio is so user-friendly, users don't have to worry about colleagues needing a technical backgrounds to understand the data they've been asked to review.

Integrations

Chartio integrates with flat CSV files, databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Windows Azure, Amazon Redshift, and Google BigQuery, and external data sources like Salesforce, Google Analytics, and Twilio.

Pricing

Chartio charges organizations an annual licensing fee, which includes five free user licenses. Additional licenses can be purchased in bundles of five.

Bottom Line

  • Cloud-based business intelligence platform built for the everyday business user
  • Makes data analysis available to everyone in a company
  • Removes the need for data teams to create analyses and reports
  • Built for companies of all sizes who have data connections available via the cloud
  • Allows organizations to discover insights and make critical decisions faster
