Pros

Has a multitude of options to enable the creation of complex dashboards. Fantastic online community providing excellent support and guidance.
And the data holding capacity is excellent. Further it is easy to use and the integrations are also user friendly.
It has a lot of power to analyze big set of data, use it like an ETL and then create beautiful visualizations.

Pros

Very easy to use for end-users, very nice visual representations, perfect for "build-it-your-own", really nice tool for interactive presentations.
What I like most about Qliksense is the ease in which you can portray the information, also the duplicate function helps you to customise your sheet until you like it over and over again.
You can connect with a very wide range of systems thanks to brilliant API support. The dashboards look really good and it can be integrated in to other systems.

Cons

While dealing with large volumes, speed is a trade-off and if we don't have the admin rights to create generic query, it becomes a pain.
It can be a little difficult to manage all of the filters depends on how the program is built out.
Not sure how to enhance the tool to avoid this and it sure beats Microsoft Access/Excel, but there are data constraints.

Cons

There is no option for report delivery. The extensions need to be certified by Qlik so that we can use them with no worries.
The software's support model is horrific. Qlik uses value added resellers (aka VAR) for the most part.
It was dreadfully slow and awkward. We demo'ed a couple more software and chose Qlik Sense due its speed, scalability and performance on mobile devices.

QlikView

Old but robust

Very good, it's a robust software even if it was replaced by Qlik Sense.

Pros

It's very fast to load data and the script it's simple so you can easly learn to do complex ETL. Also you have many options to build complex visualization dashboards.

Cons

It can be difficult for users to learn how to make complex functions. Also you have to invest a lot of time to build beatiful dashboard.

QlikView

QlikView and Qlik Sense

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

QlikView's unique in-memory, associative data engine makes it possible for an organization to gain insight quickly from vast amount of data. QlikView is trend setter in the business discovery space and a leader in the Gartner's magic quadrant for business discovery tools.

Cons

QlikView's visualization capabilities are not as strong as one offered by Tableau but Qlik Tech is addressing that with a new product -- Qlik Sense. It has yet to be seen how QlikView and Qlik Sense will work as a suite. Qlik Tech has yet to articulate their long-term vision for QlikView and Qlik Sense. Customers feel uncertainty due to lack of clarity.

QlikView

Somewhat clunky but overall it gets the job done

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

After you spend some time with the product it begin to gain a lot of value for an organization. It also has a lot of customization options that are not currently offered in Qlik Sense.

Cons

This product requires a lot of SQL knowledge which can lead to high costs employing someone with a SQL background or using a consultant.

QlikView

Qlik products are powerful and flexible, great ROI.

Reviewed 2 years ago

Remembering that this is a platform, not just a BI tool, there is some back-office IT work required to implement, launch and maintain the software. Once up and running (which was very cost effective to outsource) the maintenance costs were minimal and we never had any problems.

Pros

Everything. This is a well engineered and powerfully designed tool that dominates the ETL and BI Visualization space for those that need both aspects combined into one. A decade of fine tuning make this a great tool for your analytical and data management toolbox.

Cons

The only con here is the cannibalization factor in the release of Qlik Sense, a far better and more modern take on the same tool. The Sense platform is very similar, but more powerful and expandable, and is getting 99.9% of the development resources, making Qlik View static. So while a great tool and still has years of life left, if you are launching new I'd go with Qlik Sense instead.

QlikView

Easy to use, Not so easy on the eyes though

Reviewed 5 months ago

We're using Qlikview within almost all of the departments in the company. From finance to HR and Garages. we see it as an essential tool for the group activity.

Pros

triggers, On load, On open, etc. easy to manage load tasks using the QMC task tree.

Cons

User activity monitoring is a bit of a lack. unable to export a list of all currently licensed users. it's especially difficult if your using DOC licenses, you to go from app to app to see the licensed users for the particular app. also the UI getting a little old, the newer Qlik sense look much better. if you're considering moving to Qlikview from PowerBI or Tableau, Qlik sense will make more sense.

QlikView

Like it’s little brother Qlik Sense, this program works well.

Reviewed 2 years ago

We absolutely love the Qlik family of programs. They work well and do as advertised. We had decided to switch to the much-cheaper Qlik Sense but still occasionally use QlikView for the customers we already had in the system.

Pros

While this program takes some time to get used to, once you learn it, it’s a breeze. The ability to manipulate data to make it just as you want is a major plus. Many other programs restrict your ability to show your data in just the way that you want.

Cons

The price can be a bit much. They did listen and thus created Qlik Sense, but at the higher price point, you would expect this program to have the same features as its competitors, but alas, it is still lacking. Not too terribly much, but there are features that it really should have that it does not.

QlikView

A great reporting or dwh software

Reviewed 3 years ago

Integration data and reporting with pixel perfect results.

Pros

Excellent pixel perfect software (unlike Qlik Sense) allows you to create dashboards and advanced reports, the platform is complete and allows you to read data from multiple data sources, the tools provided are the classic tools of reporting software and allows you to customize to the maximum your needs.

Cons

Unlike Qlik Sense it is less optimized for data discovery but it is an excellent software able to create reports and also to populate (using data in memory) a kind of DWH or better internal Datamart containing the data loaded in the file. The license costs are not low and in some cases depending on the needs you need to analyze whether it is better to buy Sense or View.

Qlik Sense

Qlik Sense provides excellent self-service BI tools with solid expansion capabilities

Reviewed 4 years ago

We still use QlikView for most of our BI projects because the centralized model has merit. I would like to see a more integrated hybrid capability to support both QlikView and Qlik Sense in a dual implementation while addresses the weaker aspects of each.

Pros

Qlik Sense allows me to provide users with a library of BI objects (key indicators, trending charts, and other objects) based on a common data set. Users can choose to view simple dashboards or create complex analyses to support their own projects.

Cons

Some of the implementation and maintenance is still cumbersome, and I would prefer a greater capacity to centralize some areas of the published Qlik library in my organization.
