Qlikview expensive to implement

2017-09-05

I read its manual and couldn't code anything close to what I could quickly on my day 1 in Power BI and Tableau kinda tool

Pros

Good Graphics Good slicing feature Can handle terabytes of data Its in memory stuff brings gigs of server storage space that might turn a pro into a con

Cons

Implementation cost per user are too much that small to medium sized business cant even think of affording it. Infra cost would rise Coding they say is easy but not really that easy especially for non It users Performance issues are so severe Poor customer support

QlikView and Qlik Sense

2015-06-23

Pros

QlikView's unique in-memory, associative data engine makes it possible for an organization to gain insight quickly from vast amount of data. QlikView is trend setter in the business discovery space and a leader in the Gartner's magic quadrant for business discovery tools.

Cons

QlikView's visualization capabilities are not as strong as one offered by Tableau but Qlik Tech is addressing that with a new product -- Qlik Sense.

Recommendations to others considering QlikView

Analyze the business need for adopting a business intelligence tool. If you have need to analyze vast amount of data quickly from various sources, QlikView may be a good fit. But if you are looking for a tool to produce standard reports, it may not be the best choice.

Powerful Visualization and Business Intelligence Tool

2018-05-26

Pros

1. Qlikview's capability to handle large volumes of data is really good. It reduces the size of datasets to one-tenth of original size when converted to QVD formats. 2. Strong data management capabilities 3. Adaptors available to connect to a variety of data sources

Cons

Doesn't have "Activity" feature which Tableau has - when you click on a graph/data point, you move to another graph in some other dashboard - this becomes very interactive when you want to present the effect of one thing on another 3.

One of the best Enterprise BI tools on the market

2016-06-08

Here is why I think it is the best enterprise BI tool (compared to other enterprise BI tools -- SAP BO, Tableau, SAS, Cognos) - It has its own ETL.

Most powerful visualization tool but steep learning curve

2016-05-17

Pros

Tableau is a powerful desktop analytics software which allows the most customizable and sophisticated analytics I've seen after having used Qliksense, Qlikview, and Domo.

Cons

Unfortunately the power of tableau brings a lot of complexity. It's not the type of software you can just click around and figure out so people who use it regularly do need to do a significant amount of training, and depending on their software proficiency the learning curve can be quite steep. The product, as a desktop software (I didn't use the online version), is starting to feel dated: you still have to save files and the software does crash every so often causing lost work, and you still have to deal with the annoyance of file management.

Recommendations to others considering Tableau

If you need highly sophisticated, interactive, customizable visualizations and a powerful desktop analytics engine, Tableau is becoming an industry standard. Ease of use needs some work though.
