Flexibility, efficiency

Pros
WebFOCUS let me aid and create not only applications for clients but reporting from multiple database and output in any format needed.

Cons
If anything, the price. Clients wouldn't buy all the pieces they needed and then ask to self build.

We were able to affordably implement BI into our organization.

Pros
Easy to get started, quick learning curve, excellent support. We love the scheduling and alerting especially - reports that need to be sent internally and to customers is now handled automatically.

Cons
Wish there was more community support for our edition - but it is new and there may not be a large user base yet.

Pros
i like the direction it is heading the possibilities available. There are many things we can do with WebFOCUS and are barely scratching the surface.

Cons
cost of optional features. There are other features we would like to use that are cost prohibitive like mobile faves

Its flexability. an option can always be found to solve any problem. usually more than one way to do anything

the biggest problem in the beginning is the cost. once this is gotten over the benefits out weigh the cost when the power of the software is demonstrated

I have had a good run over 30 years using their products. I find them to be the best tool to address various business scenarios using IT.

Pros
The available features and the ease of which they can be used to build a report application.

Cons
The cost to maintain. The various adapters needed to support in house applications quickly add up.

This software has allowed us to replace a fairly complicated reporting system that we had for 10+ years. We have been able to reduce the number of reports needed and continue to decentralize our report writers.

Pros
With enough time and effort, you can do nearly anything you can think of with the product. However, a considerable amount of knowledge and expertise is needed in order to do anything that is off the basic feature set.

Cons
The software is difficult to learn and training is expensive. Without professional services, it is very difficult to become self-sufficient with the product.

Pros
Webfocus is pretty nice and easy to use tool work and build reports. Tech support team is just amazing and always gives us recommendations about everything on the product. And Webfocus integrates with other data source application and it feels good to work with them in one place.

Cons
I will complain about the codes, sometimes don't know why it just keeps breaking codes and does not have features to restore it back. And product's cost is high.

I gained insight to deep dives into data that would take hours to review in a very clean graph/ chart that gave me the ability to share instantly with my team. And hopefully in the near future leadership that will shed light into additional cost savings in my department.

Pros
I like that it is an sophisticated aesthetic software that is easy to use across of levels. This software allows me to do all my work on the front end and gives the ability to transform any report/chart/ graph, to another almost instantly.

Cons
That the 8.2.04 has not released yet. I am very excited for the release so that I can integrate info graphics in to my day to day reporting.

it has been a good experience to learn about distributed environment after years of working on the mainframe

Pros
recently converted mainframe jobs to webfocus environment. Most existing jobs were easily ported over to distributed environment will few changes. However, this gave us an opportunity to do some well needed tuning on jobs that have been running on mainframe for 15-20 year. Tuning has increase efficiency and speed in new Linux environment and we are incurring cost savings by moving application to a distributed environment over IBM mainframe
