Oracle Aconex has eliminated the need for us to switch between many programs in order to manage projects effectively. Aconex helps us keep submission data up to date and easily locate the files we need. Aconex by Oracle Inc. Aside from saving time and money by eliminating the need for a plethora of paper forms, we've also seen an increase in the timeliness of responses to submissions from various project stakeholders. This has allowed us to stay ahead of schedule and avoid numerous delays that would have otherwise occurred due to slow approval processes.
Construction projects can benefit from Oracle Aconex's ability to bring together project owners, consultants, prime contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders under a single platform that allows them to share and manage tasks and project documents effectively. This platform is ideal for managing construction projects. Oracle Aconex's direct link to Primavera makes it easy for me to view the authorized...
One of the most frustrating aspects of working in a team is that you have to teach every new member because not everyone has the same ability to learn how to work effectively in a short period of time.

Oracle Aconex adequately fills our need for project management and communication between various disciplines from project start to close-out.
+ Well organized layout of information. + Integrated mail system that allows for easy multi-discipline collaboration. + Easy to locate documents and mail with multiple search fields. + Multiple file upload tool speeds up transmittal process. + Central project repository (if multiple projects are facilitated through Aconex). + Keeps all issued documents off local hard drives and onto a central server.
- Uploading files with the correct document properties manually can be a chore. - Limited view customization. It would be nice to see a mail item on the same page as the inbox. - You cannot right-click on the screen to open an item in a separate tab. - No constraints on document register standards to ensure all disciplines upload correctly. - Sharp learning curve for new users, requiring extensive training.

Oracle Aconex integrates well with other systems which are also Oracle based within our business. It works as well if not better than competition too, and whilst there are areas for improvement, Aconex has all of the functionality that we need to use day-to-day. I personally think Aconex provides a good overall experience. Opinions are my own and not those of the company with whom I work.
The UX is better than on some competitor systems that I have used. I find Aconex pretty easy to use, made easier by a slick and impressive onboarding training set. New users get pointed towards a set of tutorial videos that really do get you started pretty well.
I still find these types of software clunkly. Search functionality could be improved on all of the various competitors, and whilst it is good here, it could be better. I also find that notification emails are a real nuisance. This is true of other software too, but it still massively detracts from the user experience and the overall effectiveness of the tool.

The software links globally between the corporate office and the regional office. The workflow is easier.
Oracle is one of the international platforms which provides a web based applications. The Aconex Workflow function allows you to verify the document review hierarchy. The software provides a global platform that enables multiple users to collaborate. Adding new files to the system is simple. You will not lose any correspondence because all mail is saved in the Mail module and cannot be deleted. Workflow templates are simple to create. There is no file size limit.
The cost of software is extremely high if compare to the local software.

Since Aconex is a cloud-based solution, it is easy for our project team members even those who are remotely located to create, review and upload documentation and other project information from any location on to the software seamlessly. Documentation such as drawings, RFIs, rich 3D models, rendering and reports can be accessed via a real time dashboard and this definitely helps us reduce the time and effort needed for document filing and tracking.
Oracle Aconex is the Crème de la crème of construction management softwares and allows its users to share documentation via the online portal for sizeable projects in a seamless manner. It is suitable for transmitting drawings, and capable of documentation management, process and workflow automation and helps the user control several aspects of project correspondence for complex projects. We have been able to manage and maintain a workflow within the software and love the tracking feature that accommodates each transmittal submitted.
It needs training first to be able to use all features and functionalities. There is limited email capability but hopefully this will be addressed in future upgrades. It is best suitable for large construction and engineering projects so not really sure if small scale projects would be managed well through Aconex.

This software has really streamlined the company's workflow and provides valuable data to streamline processes even further. Controlling documents and correspondence has never been easier.
Cloud based storage with no limits regarding file size. Easy and intuitive search options. Allows for effortless tracking of documents and mail. Support Central is very comprehensive and easy to navigate.
Administrative tools can be unintuitive. Inflexible - often times requiring inconvenient workarounds to achieve desired results.

Since my organization is using this software, I have been also a user of this more than two years. As an Engineer, everyday I get Aconex notifications to my outlook which is very helpful for me to get an idea of them before opening the Aconex. Since there are thousands of documents and emails, it is difficult for me to memorize everything. Therefore open and read in Aconex is easier than memorizing them. I normally use Aconex to send documents to other organizations since it is a secure medium. I highly recommend Aconex to any organization and professional.
Oracle Aconex is a sophisticated Software platform to communicate and store documents securely for any scale of a project. Large number of users can be added and use it at the same time is one of the major advantages. Inbuilt Aconex email function which can also be linked in to outlook is an added advantage. One other thing I like most is that the user can preview and verify a document before downloading it. Documents in Aconex can be exported into an Excel sheet saves the time. Workflow function in Aconex allows to check the hierarchy of reviewing the documents. It also allows the user to sort the documents according to date, organization and etc. Those are some of the appreciative features I experienced in this software.
Expensive License is the major drawback I see in this software. One other thing I noticed is, user has to write the name of the document using exact letters as per the documents’ name, otherwise, it shows “no results found”. Like google it doesn’t suggest the words while typing.

I have utilised Primera for almost 26 years from P3 until Oracle Primavera Cloud.
1. The most powerful tools for project scheduling 2. It integrates multi-programs and multi-projects 3. It stores historical data of detailed activities 4. Excellent for cash flow and resource analysis 5. It integrates all schedule levels from the top (monthly) to the lowest level (hourly)
1. Many terms and input functions may confuse beginners. It requires training before use properly.

1. Primavera supports microsoft project files for editing. 2. Creating WBS and resource planning is very simple. 3. Updating a program is never being easier. 4. Every input can be made to a easily printable and presentable document. 5. Comparing two revisions are very easy.
1. License version is pricey for individual engineers. Otherthan that everything is great about this amazing software.

I liked it a lot more after I got access to their support portal and was able to actually get into their documentation and submit support tickets.

Oracle products in general are a bit more expensive than other similar applications and their support is always extra.

Oracle is used for project management where I am working. Software is helping to make lot of efficient decisions.
Oracle Primavera is the best software currently available for project management work in Civil Engineering Industry. Primavera is a very powerful tool to prepare project programs aligning labor and resources for a successful completion. Primavera helps to make effective decision making at the correct time to increase the efficiency of the project. Presentation of results are very clear and at a high quality level. System is based on a cloud so everybody can have the access and work for the greater good.
Software is complex for a beginner and it takes time to get familiar with the system. It is little difficult to what went wrong when you don't get the results you expected. I had to re do few programs from the beginning since I couldn't find what went wrong. Once an activity is changed, it cannot be simply undone.

No doubt, it's the best project scheduling tool that is available for construction industry till date. Overall I would prefer this software over any other similar software for its pros mentioned.
Oracle Primavera P6 is one of the best Project Scheduling tool that works on Critical path Method. I like the following features the most - Vast integration capability with Web, EPPM, Primavera Mobile and other oracle tools - Ability to generate large amount of data especially in the form of spreadsheet - Fully functional Earned Value Management
The software UI is old style and the options are not properly organised. There are some software bugs that are still persistent and oracle has been very slow in debugging them.

It is a must for any kind of scale construction project to track project's overview.
It is good to work with Oracle database, you don't lose any data. Schedule options, claim digger, report properties are stable.
It is restricted program. Not easy to use with Excel. You have to import/export between Excel. Multi-currency is not supported.

We used Primavera primarily for Project Management. Submittals, Pay Apps, Transmittals. For the most part it was great. Especially once you got used to the system (It was not user friendly to all). The software was dependent on a particular version of IE and you could NEVER update your JAVA ever! Otherwise, it just wouldn't work. In the early years (before Oracle) the customer service was fantastic. However, since Oracle took over, the customer service has been terrible. We have since switched to a different software.
It managed documents very well. Once used to the system and formats it was easy to use. Early on customer support was amazing.
Current customer support by Oracle is terrible. EI and Java could never be updated otherwise the software would not function.

Overall I think Oracle is a very beneficial software that can store important personal or company information in a secure environment.
What I like most about Oracle is that it is a very secure software that allows very sensitive information to remain protected.
It isn't as easy to reset your username and password as other sites, but that just secures the software more.

Beautifully created to solve problems without making it overly complicated. I would say, there are far too many companies out there trying to be good at everything and making horrible products, but Oracle does a good job of investing in a product feature and actually making it perform well.
If you are considering this product for a construction company, it is useful to handle complex projects with many data contacts and files. Very large companies can use this to their advantage because it has many features that can be set and streamlined nicely.
The product is really expensive. I would say that if you are a smaller company, this isn't going to work for your price point. It also has a lot of complexity, so if you are going to just pay to get it and not use it to its full potential, it's not a good investment. To have an expert that specializes in training and using this product to it's full potential (give them a minimum of 6 months to dig in full time) will give you the best return on investment for implementing this product.

Primavera is the grand-daddy of project management software programs, with full features that are robust enough to handle the biggest jobs. But, since the purchase by Oracle, support has suffered tremendously. It's not unusual to wait days for a response, and more for resolution. That's not acceptable when the job keeps going, regardless.

As a Project Controls Professional, I have been using Primavera since 1996. It has evolved from its P3 days to the current P6 version. Primavera is considered the best-in-class by most of the major industries in the world. One of the unique qualities of Oracle Primavera is - It combines good old proven scheduling techniques like CPM with a great database. This allows for large amounts of scheduling data storage and easy retrieval of historical data for use as a standard for future work. It also makes it easier to reconstruct past schedules for forensic delay analysis etc. In the current market scenario, where competitiveness is a very important attribute for survival, expertise in Oracle Primavera is an absolute must!
