It's a fine software but I would recommend utilizing Guru or something that's more up to date. Confluence can just take a really long time to search through.
The software is a place where you're able to store all relevant information which is nice. Individuals are able to upload documents, 1-pagers, etc.
It's pretty tough to navigate and find what you are looking for. The ease of use is definitely not there.

It seems to have a large range of functionalities and it works well with other products (JIRA, GSuite, etc.). I'm currently trying to build out a process for people across the org to use. There are nice benefits, like the ability to make a template that others can duplicate and fill out. In addition, the calendar capabilities make for easy scheduling.
Because confluence has so many features, it is not intuitive unless you are making the most basic pages. For the project I'm trying to track in Confluence I have had several meetings with our in-house confluence guru. I would recommend having someone dedicated to really understanding all that confluence can do, otherwise you may miss out some of it's cooler features.

Easy and intuitive to use, good for decentralization and shared accountability. Features and notifications are easy to set up and helpful. Better in almost all aspects than Atlassian Confluence for knowledge management.
Better at explaining short form or simply as a knowledge base, not for documenting workflows, runbooks, diagrams and such.
