Easy to use and highly customizable.
This software seems to be more customizable than MS SharePoint.
It is not as widely used as MS SharePoint. Some of the Microsoft products don't work with Box as well as MS SharePoint.

Box has a great user interface which is very straightforward and easy to use. We used to use Microsoft SharePoint before Box and did not have the greatest of experiences. We found SharePoint quite difficult to navigate and the set up and maintenance of the platform was very challenging. Upload speeds on Box are very fast and also the platform has customisable security features.
In Box you can create tasks for any document you have on the platform which is great. However one issue in particular which I find irritating is that lets say your colleague creates a task on a document which you share and at some point if you wanted to change the task due date or add other colleagues to the task, you can't do that. Only the person who creates a task can amend it. This is still the case even if you have multiple admins which is part of our setup currently.

Box is easy to use and secure. It allows us to share larger files with our franchises with ease. The licenses can be a bit pricey, but in comparison to server costs for a file share and Sharepoint, it isn't that bad. it isn't a complete Sharepoint alternative, however.

It had fast upload and download speeds for accessing and managing large batches of files.
Did not ingrate how we wanted like Sharepoint does with other office applications and the migration from Sharepoint was too much of an undertaking to switch at this time.

Overall its a much better platform I feel for sharing then Sharepoint.
BOX is great for sharing information and large files, creating backup of information on to a network. It can mirror working off your harddrive where team members can then have access to the information.
Modifying file names or moving files around could be improved upon to be made even easier when sharing with organizing files.

I used Box for professional Purpose, following the principles of my employer. I access to it daily
Instead of receiving many documents from.differents collaborators, I send them a template on Box, and each one fill their own section. At the end I have my document ready to review and submit for approval. I don't need to waste time by compiling many inputs from many sources.
I think some similar software like SharePoint are easier to use than Box.

Enjoy it - much more functionality than DropBox, and more control over sharing than Sharepoint.
Box ha s come a long way since the beginning - it has a lot of functionality, power, security, and uses. Uploads are fast and it's cool because you can choose who to share items with, even people without Box accounts (unlike Sharepoint). Videos display very nicely.
I wish it would let you 'host' websites on there. Sometimes you just need to be able to embed HTML and have someone view the page. If you are paying for Box, why can't you use it however you want? I also don't like how "Box Notes" is a separate page. It should be like a little lightbox pop-up that looks like a sticky.

Overall am happy with Box and it is my second go to place after sharepoint
I like the user interface that Box has and the way we can share the file with others and control the type of access each of the users get on the files. It is easy to use, fast and allows creation and storage of various kinds of files
Sometimes I feel difficulty in looking for the files that were shared with me and I think the search for those files can be improved

Very easy to use, minimalist UI, and provides a great alternative to older file sharing platforms (eg Sharepoint).
The only reason I don't use Box more often is because I'm a Google guy, and Drive plugs in to all my Google accounts/data which makes transitioning between tools (Docs, Slides, Sheets etc) a lot more seamless than using Box.

Box is really easy to use. We share files using this software and it is easy to get folders set up and control security settings.
I have had issues with the Box Sync feature; I cannot get my documents to stay synced the way that I do with SharePoint docs.

Allows multiple users to access and edit data, which cannot easily be done on SharePoint drives. It makes it easy to send large files via outlook.

This works well enough for my team to manage our files. I wish we still used SharePoint, though, as it had more features that we need.
You can share and collaborate with others in your organization, and invite outside collaborators into files, or whole folders. Each file has a direct link that you can send in an email or IM Version history for documents allows for you to look back at earlier copies in case of errors Multiple people can edit the same document at one time
The document links do not correspond to folder hierarchy, rather they are a random string of characters. This means you cannot see the folder structure from the link. Co-editing Excel sheets may lead to errors or corrupted files Web links are often identified by outside collaborators' email firewall as "unsafe" and emails are not delivered "Locking" for editing is only regularly possible from the web version. If you use the one in Windows Explorer, you will likely be unable to "lock" the document Some documents are randomly deleted or duplicated when glitches occur If editing online, documents are re-saved often and the "version history" only goes back a few minutes.

A great package overall and easy to get up and running with straight away, unlike a more complicated solution like SharePoint or a less business-oriented one like Dropbox.
I found the software to be excellent for backing up and sharing data and files between team members in a secure manner. Recently added functionality makes it easy to quickly open a file in the cloud on your local office applications.
Features like 'Box Sync' which sync local files with the cloud, can at times be buggy. I expect this to be cleared up soon.

Box.com for Business provides business cloud storage and collaboration functionality. The service supports as few as three employees but can be scaled to a custom, enterprise-level plan for companies with hundreds of employees. Box.com (for Business) also provides solid document management (DM) capabilities and security features. The Business plan begins per user per month. It offers unlimited storage...
It provides enterprise level security and privacy features. It is a cloud based solution and a good collaboration software. It offers document management feature with storage. It is similar to O365 SharePoint platform.
Missing online editing functionality for external users. Because of a web based solution, the uploading or downloading deep folder structures can be painful.

great product for file sharing
Multiple users working on a single document through MS office integration, and this document also maintains a version history. Very effective in managing version control on documents and large files. Have replaced our dated SharePoint instance with box.
integrations with MS suite needs to improve, some critical features are not available. Also the product should allow for sync control to a frequency that we desire. Overall a great product.

Box is true collaboration for Mid-market companies.if you are looking to add cloud file storage to an internal suite of web apps or mobile apps, look here! API is very strong.
Rocking API and integration tools for web apps. Real collaboration and file sharing. Secure and fast cloud. Desktop sync.
Needs integration with Microsoft Dynamics suite (has Office365!). Not inexpensive. More API tools around security.

It was not very good. It is not difficult to use it individually, the problem is when you try to work together
It is safe. If you are working with Microsoft things get a little bit easier.
It is not easy to work together with colleagues and update documents at the same time. Therefore, many people end up downloading documents, updating them and then uploading the documents again. That is not practical at all. So inconvenient.

This is a shared file system that solves problems for businesses needed shared networks without a server.
I like that it syncs right to your computer. It was super easy to get all the files shared with employees and then sync to the desktop so I can access without going on to the site. I've used Sharepoint before too and I think I like this better.
I haven't seen any so far. It works for what it's supposed to and so no complaints!

It is very effective and user friendly , much easier than drop box.
I appreciate most the ease of accessing shared documents. Once you are logged in your account it keeps you logged in . Ease to download ,share and copy documents.
My least favorite features is anyone can change the document if the write on template and save instead of download to their computer.

aside for the point noted in the "Cons" box, the software has good prospects.
This app is good for communicating between your connections, I have particularly found this software useful in communicating to colleagues in school.
The software isn't really standalone as you have to install Outlook before getting access to it. They could make it stand alone for use and better access.

Good experience overall, really nothing bad to say about it. It's a necessary tool for many of our projects.
Microsoft SharePoint is super easy to use. It's a great tool to collaborate with others on. We can all contribute, edit, etc from the same folder in real time.

What I like about SharePoint the most is that a good Dot Net developer can customize it beyond what comes out of the box. Also, depending on your original install, updating, like with all Microsoft products is a breeze.
The only bad experience I have had with SharePoint was when trying to migrate from a single box install to a three box one. For best performance SharePoint should use three servers. One for the program and static content, another for the database, and the final one to run an index server. Migrating from a one box solution to a three box one was a nightmare and resource intensive. That was a few years ago, well...more than a few, however. If you have an Enterprise with a 1000 people or less, you could get by with a one box solution with a Intel i9 or Xeon CPU and 64GB of RAM.
