Pros and cons

It is so powerful, and I know I'm barely scraping the surface of what all it's capable of. It is amazing for tracking progress, analyzing data, and staying organzied.
I like the ease of this software to input my numbers that have been acquired over the year and is a good reference to keep my numbers straight.
I would easily recommend it as it's perfect for kids in school, in the work place etc. All it's features are detailed and open doors for me to be as creative as I want to be.
Some of the error messages are hard to decipher when using the software and the functions have confusing variables to put in at times.
The software cannot be readily integrated or harmonized with other information systems. The software is totally insensitive to human errors; it does not prompt the user when there is an error.
When there is a large amount of data entered into a spreadsheet it's inevitable to have trivial human mistakes made. Sometimes it's very difficult to find those mistakes later.

The perfect Accounting Solution

Reviewed 4 years ago

I have personally used Excel for over 15 years now, and each version adds new capabilities. The only software that just keeps on giving! The calculations are always correct, there is never any faults with the software, and although we have a separate software nowadays that is cloud-based for our shops, we still like to use Excel daily. Its a perfect solution for any startup to medium sized business, and a MUST for any accountant. Definitely highly recommended by myself.

Pros

EVERYTHING is easy with Excel. You have the options to colour co-ordinate cells, selections, and entire spreadsheets. You can name each sheet for easier clarification. Calculations can be done automatic which is a huge time saver with very large amounts of data. Currency symbols can automatically be added to certain columns, rows, selections. You have the option to use number formatting (to include...

Cons

There is no options to have a cloud based Excel spreadsheet. If there were, I am pretty sure most businesses would ditch their current software and stick with Excel. Our business has multiple physical shops, so being able to share to document amongst all shops for them to collaborate would be ideal. But unfortunately Excel doesn't have this. Such a shame.

Spreadsheet Data Management & Analytics

Reviewed 4 years ago

It is great for simple data and quick data filtering. It can quickly fix issues if you are using it for inventory editing and can come in handy for stand alone projects. If you add a lot of different equations in it or use it for larger data, it can become a pain using it. Since it is program on your computer and not cloud based, it can out perform tasks that competitors would struggle with that are cloud based.

Pros

This software is a company standard use for a lot of other programs. It can filter data, create .csv files for upload and download of data, and handles equations to help with data analytics. There are a lot of guides on this program online if you are struggling with a problem and there are plugins that you can use to help make your job faster. Many companies have this as a standard so sending files to others is usually not a problem.

Cons

It is not meant to be used as a database for large data. It can lag out after you get to 60K lines of data. The biggest issue I have with this program is that it likes to convert large number text to scientific notation and you have to constantly do workarounds to prevent it from happening. It has some minor glitches if you have too many different files open at the same time. It is not the greatest with group collaboration because the files are meant to be used as one user at a time. You have to also manually save your files from time to time as you are working. Although you can often times get your file back if it wasn't saved and the program shuts off, it still is a practice you have to get into a habit of doing.

For decades Excel was the only way to go. Its ability to utilize formulas to create the documentation we needed was invaluable.

Pros

It is a user-friendly software used for managing multiple data, as well as for tracking finances and project progress, such as stock management in logistics and maintenance intervention management. It is used for data analysis and creating charts, as well as for creating macros using VBA

Cons

Despite being simple to use, it requires a deep understanding and expertise to effectively utilize formulas in Excel for data management. Additionally, Excel is sensitive to errors and is not capable of handling big data like Power BI, which could make it less cost-effective for businesses

All you need for reporting

Reviewed 4 years ago

Excel is a life-saver. I use it for reports, catalogs, creating graphs, and charts. Basically, I use it all the time! I love the 2019 version and updates since it's smoother and it also looks prettier than the older one. Just a small issue with CSV export but that's it.

Pros

I liked Excel for the longest time since there are a lot of useful tools available for use but I loved it better with the smooth transition after the updates. I'm using the 2019 version and the transitioning became smoother. Working online is also available and I am no longer afraid to lose any document I worked on. The ability to import the excel document to other formats especially PDF is a life-saver!

Cons

There's nothing much I hate about Excel since it helps me with all the reports I do. I'm just a little bothered with the CSV import after some updates were done. I noticed in the 2019 version, whenever you import a Data from text/CSV, it automatically goes to a new tab and the design has Header Rows, Banded Rows, and Filter Button. For me, it's more time consuming to remove those every time I import a CSV.

There's No Better Spreadsheet Application!

Reviewed 4 years ago

Excel has been utilised within our business by multiple departments to fit needs such as storing financial data, to automating the working out many calculations using formulas, to storing information in structured tables. It is very adaptable and can fit whatever use you find for it. Using Excel to automate some areas work has meant productivity within the business has increased, and as most - if not all - staff have previous experience using Excel it means our technical support staff receive less support tickets relating to Excel.

Pros

Excel is a very well-established piece of software which meant for us technical staff it was easy to deploy and have staff use without needing to provide lots of training sessions, as everyone already had experience using Excel. It was very easy to deploy on computers through custom installation packages, and it can be maintained and administered using GPOs in an enterprise environment. Updates are...

Cons

If there is a large amount of data saved in an Excel file, it can sometimes cause the program to run at a reduced speed as it struggles to cope; however this can vary depending on hardware and is only in extreme situations with large amounts of data, and most cases the software runs fine. Some functions aren't well documented and can be challenging to use if you haven't got previous experience with using functions.

The Best Spreadsheet platform in the world (Excel By Microsoft)

Reviewed 4 years ago

Very Good application as a whole. It does what i want it do and what it was designed to be used for.

Pros

If you are familiar with any other Microsoft software such as Word Or PowerPoint for example then it is certain you will immediately understand the way the interface has been designed, which is very user friendly. I believe that anybody can learn how to use excel because of how simplistic the design is and also because there is even a function button that tells you exactly what you can use to perform a certain action using excel where it even simply gives you the option to search using words what it is you want to do. For e.g if you searched 'plus' or 'add' excel will present you with a function that you can use to add the value of two or more cells together,

Cons

There are not many cons to excel as i feel it is a software that has been designed to do exactly what is expected if it without any issues but if i were to mention a few cons it would be things that do not really have a negative effect on the application has a whole but rather just aspects that could have been improved on. Excel is not 100%. although there are security features in place like locking...

I live in and writing this review from Hungary, yet I am sure in other nations as well, MS Excel and Office tools are the leaders, but not the only sw. used to deal with a table file, in Hungary we do not even call them "documents", "table files", simply refer to them as "Excel" that is how big impact this program has made on our life. MS Excel is on the market around for nearly 40 years, one of the most widely-can-be-used sw. on the market and I think is the best. Happy to have it, personally I am utilizing Office kit from my elementary school days and will in the future. Yes, there are some rivals to MS Excel, yet it is still the uncrown king. You may give a try to its rivals, there are free and paid versions too, so as online version are available.

Pros

Tons of educational stuff, examples, tricks, cheat sheets, "homework" like tasks are available. You may get it for free, if you are a student, genuine activation keys for a nominal price can be found in the net, yet can be used with a Microsoft account for free (limitations, less feature are obviously there), with great functionality. Cons

Keep marking the trend is the undisputed leader in its area.

Reviewed 4 years ago

The organization is the most important aspect for any enterprise, or any work is fulfilled within the time lapses established, Excel is very easy to assemble formats within the office with instructions, which at the same time allow workers to add comments on relevant work elements for them within each process they carry out. Another benefit that we have observed when using Excel is the possibility of molding it to the activities that each department needs, of course, I do not mean the editing of a video or much better to the photographic edition, but in daily tasks for reports of activities and compliance with them. In addition, another great benefit is the little training that must be given because most of the staff already know the basic elements, which saves a lot of money in training.

Pros

I really like that despite having so many years, it still includes improvements and cares about making the experience closer to the user. It is one of the most installed programs in the world, which allows me to do my work plans, schedules, relationships and other formats that I have, without worrying about compatibility. Another thing that I like most, is that I can automate processes that without Excel will take me a long time to do, especially in those activities of organization of publications in social networks, it is enough to make some formulas to keep a relation of each post and the content. Many people do not know the almost unlimited capabilities that Excel offers for all types of jobs, just having a little creativity and desire to do things better with this great tool of work.

Cons

I am an advocate of the use of Excel for all administrative activities that are made from the office, however, I think they could make known all the benefits offered, not everyone knows the scope, the rest I find no negative aspects to highlight .

Microsoft Excel - An Accountants Best Friend!

Reviewed 4 years ago

King of spreadsheet programs. Google sheets or any "free" suite programs don't compare to how powerful and easy Excel really is.

Pros

Everything, literally! Excel is and can be as powerful as you need it to be. For the casual user, it a wonderful spreadsheet program that you can use to track just about anything you need to. For the heavy user, with the proper training, trial and error, or simply using the "help" button, Excel has formulas, tables, and other options that will allow you to track, analyse, and present your financial...

Cons

To get technical this is one thorn in my side when it comes to Excel formulas. When using an "IF" formula that states to perform a mathematical function "IF" a particular set of cells meets a certain criteria. For Example: SUMIF Column A is "greater that 1" or IF Column A is "greater than one" sum what is in "Column B". The issue I have is working backwards to identify the cells that are being added that meet the criteria. When working with the small set of data, it isn't a problem. But if you have a long list of data, it nearly impossible without have to check yourself to determine when cells makes this statement true. Again, the casual user wouldn't understand this complaint.

Review for Excel

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

I have been studying science for almost 6 years (my bachelor + my master) and I always need the help of Microsoft Excel when it comes to working with data. The software might not be the easiest when you use it for the first time, but once you understand and learn more of it, you will see how useful it actually is. I do a lot of research projects at my university and I always have to collect data for...

Cons

What I like least about this software is it is not smart enough to detect the errors that I might have done while entering my data on an Excel sheet. Especially it sucks when the software does automatic calculations with my data and since there might be some errors, I might end up with an incorrect result (e.g., graphs, diagrams) that is unacceptable in the case of science. I would also argue that automatic graph suggestion by the software (assumed based on my data) is not always correct. Sometimes I am suggested a diagram, for example, that does not make sense at all. I personally think Excel's ability to create graphics and diagrams is less accurate than the other software like R programming language.

Excel Review

Reviewed 5 years ago

Excel has so many brilliant features, including pie charts and flow charts that I use for my business. It does all of my complicated yearly estimates and my company's quarterly projections beautifully, without any hiccups. All the calculations are done perfectly and I find the auto fill feature really useful too. For example I only need to write out the first two days of the week, or the first two months of the year and the rest of the months are filled in by Excel automatically for me, so I don't have to write everything out. The software is really impressive, I use Excel on a daily basis in both my business and for my personal home use, honestly I can't live without this software!

Pros

What I like most about Excel is just how smart this software really is! I'm still impressed with it on a daily basis, whether it comes to the more complicated tasks such as filling in the sales numbers of what my company has earned for the week or doing the really basic calculations of what I have spend on groceries for the week. This software is reliable calculations every single time, I don't need a calculator, Excel adds and subtracts every sum I require within seconds. I see this software not only as my personal book keeper, but I also trust it to be a mathematical wizard all rolled in to one, incredibly smart every day helper.

Cons

What I like least about Excel is just how complicated it can get! It's a brilliant tool to use to help you keep your books, but if you don't know how to use v-look up for example or what a cell is even, you are going to be so lost using this software. It does look intimidating, especially when you see the layout for the first time and seeing all the lines and the numbered grids so neatly categorized out before you, but do not get discouraged because Excel is an awesome tool to use! If you are a first time user you will definitely need either a course in Excel to unlock all of its wonderful features or a coworker that is fluent in Excel to help you get started in the beginning.

Best software to manage and huge data

Reviewed a year ago

My overall experience with the software was great as I store all the data of my company on the sheets of excel only because it's easy to understand and manage. I also able extract analysis of data after every few months which makes it even more useful. I will say that excel is best data handling software developed till now.

Pros

The best thing about the software is that it works offline. You can store huge data and make them in presentable and understandable form with the help of Microsoft Excel. It has rows and columns which makes it even more professional and useful with help of formulas you can analyse huge data analyze it in just a few seconds. It has a lot of different tools to make the working of data management much easier.

Cons

The formulas used in the software are a little difficult to learn and if you wanna use them for basic use then it's good otherwise for using shortcuts you will have to learn it properly by taking its course because excel is not something which anyone can understand and learn in few days and if your document corrupts for some reason then you will lose your all data. The user need to be a little cautious while using this software.

Excel is a tool that optimizes many processes in an organization

Reviewed 5 years ago

In my experience I started using Excel to create my school hours and after university, then in college I gave application for results of reports and database creation with records that I should take, in my current job I must work with Excel to generate the calculation sheets with the full staff that will attend each day, plus the notes when they are evaluated are downloaded in excel sheet from the application that is used for the purpose of the evaluations, in addition to possible presentation of reports and dynamic dashboards that it must generate for the management with respect to my part of the work. The reality my experience has been satisfactory and I am always comfortable working with excel.

Pros

Excel is a tool that I have always liked because in addition to presenting a pretty nice design in its latest versions, its features allow you to take thousands of benefits, from list of products with prices, to generating lists of nominees to know how much you should charge each month, these applications can even be optimized through its powerful tool such as MACROS, which allows us to apply programming...

Cons

The tool has evolved a lot, providing many advantages today that make it have few negative details, so I think that although it can still improve, I do not see very negative things that should be highlighted.

Microsoft Excel is the most Dynamic tool for undertaking financial tasks like data entry.

Reviewed 5 years ago

We have been able to solve a lot of business problems with Microsoft Excel. Below are some of the obstacles that we are able to overcome at workstation. 1. Financial reporting 2. Creating appealing spreadsheets 3. Carrying out data entry projects 4. Realization of arithmetic operations- Formulas on this software help us in such areas. 5. Statistical sampling Finally, I would highly recommend Microsoft Excel to all those individuals that are looking to save time and energy while carrying out some vital business operations like financial reporting.

Pros

To begin with, I must disclose that I have been using Microsoft Excel for more than six years +. In the midst of Microsoft Office suite, Excel is my favorite solution which has helped me to excel and is yet to do a lot. What I like about Microsoft Excel is that it is easy to install, setup, and reset up even with a little knowledge. Due to that, it is not necessarily to get comprehensive training in...

Cons

Although Microsoft Excel is the most advanced platform for carrying out data entry projects, it gets offered at a higher license cost per user. To make it competitive on the market, Microsoft should ensure that it increase the number of individuals that can use one account. Alternatively, Microsoft can reduce the total cost of getting a genuine Microsoft Excel. By doing that, they will be in a better situation to entice a lot of prospective customers, especially small businesspersons. Finally, the fact that Microsoft Excel is not available on its own is among the issues that I like least about it.

Excel Review Details

Reviewed 4 years ago

Obviously, my overall experience is great with Excel. It will be even better when I get better on "macros". I do not think people normally need to download another program since it is already available as a part of Microsoft office. I believe the cons I explained above will be improved in new updates. For example, previous it was not easy to open 2 excel files separately but it is lately resolved. It was a great step.

Pros

I do not think none of us has enough time to write the pros of excel down but it is worth to mention about some critical points. Firstly, it is a part of Microsoft Office and it is free. You can easily get the data from excel and use in word, powerpoint etc. It is also possible to view data from tablet or smart phones. You can reach the data whenever you want. I like most "Pilot Table". It enables me to assess unlimited data and create some good summary table or graphs from there. No one would agree that it makes business life easier for us. Apart from these features, I also like "macros" but I am still not expert on it. It is like what you can do is limitless if you are using "macros" in a good level.

Cons

There are limited cons of excel for me. Firstly, I do not know why but it rarely does not show up. I am trying to open a file I previously shared. When I double clicked, a square pops up to show it is opening but it doesnot. I had to restart my computers but it happens very rarely. Another is with "macros". I wish it was more user friendly and it was easier to find out what is the driver of the error. Sometimes I am having big problems to resolve the issue. And "macros" makes the size of the file so much bigger. I am having issues to send it over by mails.

Software's Swiss Army Knife

Reviewed 5 years ago

Excel is so powerful and is the gateway for many people into harnessing the power of large data. It is indispensable for most office workers and individuals who need to input, track, manage and manipulate data in an increasingly complex world.

Pros

I have been using Excel since the 90's and like how flexible the tool is. I've used it to create planners, budgets, to do lists, loan calculators, calendars, financial reports, reconciliation tools, resumes, contact lists, trip itineraries, financial models, statistical analyses, stock charts and surveys. I really love how much formatting is possible, the depth of financial functions and the number of online resources to support use of this wonderful tool. Over time, the interface and functionality has got smarter and recent versions of the software seem to anticipate your needs and offer the correct options and functions based on the context of your current actions.

Cons

There is a tendency to use Excel for everything and in some cases a database or dedicated project management tool would be more suitable to the task at hand. I've seen investment companies using Excel to monitor and report on millions of dollars of assets and personally used Excel to manage complex projects where other tools would have been much less manual. My criticisms may be due to lack of knowledge,...

Excelling at the Game.

Reviewed 5 years ago

Microsoft Excel is the total package, it's excellent for keeping data in spreadsheets. However, this is by no means a replacement for databases. Although the more basic functions of Excel is pretty straightforward and intuitive, the more advanced features do require the users to have a certain amount of training. Training on the other hand, is quite easy to come by, as a certified Microsoft Office Specialist myself (Office 2010), the training that is not as difficult as people say it is as long as you put in the effort to learn it, the benefits in terms of productivity is well-worth it. To me, in my opinion, Excel is at the top of the game when it comes to spreadsheet applications, other ones just don't feel as intuitive as Excel and that is where I feel Excel has the edge over them.

Pros

+ Really easy to use. Some training might be needed to fully take advantage of its features. + Mistakes can be avoided really easily if you know how to use their formulas. You don't need to manually count and insert all the data by yourself, it's automated once you get the hang of it. + A lot of data visualization options to choose from. Data analysis is made simple with this, really useful if you...

Cons

- Spelling mistakes won't be auto-corrected like they do in Microsoft Word. It would a pretty useful feature if it's applied here. - Lower end computers might have some difficulties working with spreadsheets that have a lot of data. Optimization could be better, especially how most office workstations do not have expensive hardware to work with.
