Pros

It's super easy to use and straightforward. Very intuitive interface to interact with and works like a charm.
This is a great program that allows you to truly connect with your team and friends, the price is great and free.
I love that the app runs from the browser and does not need to be installed on the PC. I also love that it does not have a time limit and is very easy to use.

Pros

For both personal and business reasons, Skype is a terrific way to connect quickly and effortlessly.
Overall I have had a good experience with Skype. Perfect lightweight instant messaging app.
Overall I have the best experience while using this app. It is a one of a kind I wouldnt not trade it for any other app.

Cons

I hate that when I'm presenting, I can no longer see the person I'm talking to. And I wish it automatically opened a new window rather than just a tab that can get lost if I have too many open.
I had many fake accounts from Africa try to entice me into lovers scams. Since rebranding, to Google meet it has been hacked twice this week.
I dislike seeing it when people are presenting something because it is a distraction and gets in the way of the display.

Cons

There has been a persistent problem that it takes a lot of time to load the app sometimes. Just basic features have been provided in it, if we compare it with its competitors.
There is not much I do not like, but the lack of support of break-out rooms is something I have noticed and missed on occasion, though a minor gripe.
Sometimes the app can lag or brake a little if you have a computer or cellphone with basic hardware.

I generally more prefer using Skype than Google hangout. I think Skype is more user friendly. Google hangout is less known to people than skype.

Pros

It is probably the best when it comes to group discussions and meetings. It works very well in all devices and integrates well with email, browsers etc.The additional fact I love about google hangouts is its comprehensive customization tools to fit the needs of the users.

Cons

Skype beats hangouts in the sense that it doesn't allow for the sending of files in as effortlessly as skype.

Good For Business People

Reviewed 5 years ago

The overall experience is good. I think it can be improved further for more robust functionalities.

Pros

Its very easy to use. Can easily collaborate with friends/workers for team meeting or calls. Convenient to use for business purpose. I think its more reliable than Skype Business.

Cons

Its not as good as skype for personal use. Maybe it also not advertised as much as Skype because most people have no idea Google Hangouts exists. Sometimes, the call quality is not clear and need to switch to skype instead.

It's great and a super alternative to Skype. Sometimes having everyone on Skype isn't plausible and Google Hangouts makes video chatting easy.

Pros

It's simple to use and the quality can be good, depending on your device.

Cons

Sometimes when interacting with someone on a mobile device, you get blocky video and some compression artifacts because of movement and travel- but it can also be influenced by the device being used.

Competitor for Skype, useful with gSuite, but Skype still is stronger

Reviewed 5 years ago

If you use gSuite you should try to use always hangouts, otherwise, it's just another similar to skype.

Pros

- Integrated with gSuite, don't need to add users, all members are there. - When setting up a gCalendar meeting the link of hangouts is already there. - Works in any broswer without app - On Android tablet it's super stable

Cons

- Cannot have the webcams visible meanwhile checking some documents like in Skype - Sometimes the video freezes with bad connection, skype works better in bad networks. - Cannot present with a whiteboard (skype has not, but others do, it would be awesome). - chat is quite hidden.

Google hangous - A great alternative to skype or other instant messaging services

Reviewed 5 years ago

I have used google hangouts more than skype, mostly because I do a lot more on mobile than on PC. It has saved me in certain situations, and it is nice to have it there whenever I need to get in touch with somebody quickly.

Pros

This application is a great alternative to skype, and in my opinion it is easier to use on mobile than skype. It has most of the same features of skype, HD calling, video calling, conference calls, etc. It is easy to use, and can be applied in any situation you would need skype in.

Cons

Not very many people use this software, comparatively to skype. It does the same work, but is hard to find people who use it, especially in a business setting.

Overall, this is a great free option and better than Skype if everyone is reasonably techy (Skype has an easier interface I think).

Pros

Easy to use generally, can use with just voice or video as well, can have multiple people in the same chat with no issue.

Cons

It was kind of glitchy - sometimes we would cut out, other times we'd have to switch to just audio (even though our internet was fine)

Google view of chat

Reviewed 4 years ago

Solved lot of problems. We use Skype for busines in our jobs, and when skype encounter some bugs, we use Hangout to solve the problems.

Pros

Google is largely inserted into IT , and Hangout i think it the prove of it. Hangout is a chat software such us Telegram, and Whatsapp but in-built with google. In fact if you have a Google account, you can use it with all devices you have to chat with people using gmail accounts. maybe not business software, but easy and free to use. There is also a web app , and you don't have to download any software (for pc and iMacs)

Cons

Maybe it is not largely used. It has lot of functionalities, but not used.

Hang Out with Hangouts

Reviewed 6 years ago

It's like Skype, but it's on Google's Ecosystem.

Pros

- It's free! - Really easy to use. - Integration with other Google applications, such as Calendars, Docs, Drive... - Web based, no downloads required. (Unless you're on a mobile device.) - Screen sharing. - Chat and share your screen with multiple people at once. Video conferencing is made super simple with this.

Cons

- All users must each have a Google account. No integration with Skype or Outlook. - Isn't particularly efficient if you have low internet speed. But then again, so are the rest of the other video conferencing apps.

J.L. Skype Review

Reviewed 9 months ago

Skype has been a great tool that I've used in the past couple of months as a way of communicating with family members and business partners alike across the world via audio-video. However, it's privacy concerns and limited features really drive me away from using it regularly.

Pros

I can learn almost anything virtually and therefore have the skills to work anywhere in the world. For example, I recently had a financial wellness webinar where I learned a lot about budgeting, taxes, and more.

Cons

Skype has faced privacy concerns related to data security and encryption so I tend to use other software like Google Meet and Zoom.

Connecting the World One Call at a Time

Reviewed 6 months ago

My Overall experience with skype is awesome and appreciating the likes that I can make video calls, voice calls, messaging and even make group video calls either for work or family meet ups

Pros

I love many things about skype! One of the things I like most about Skype is the ability to connect with friends and family from anywhere in the world. It allows me to face-to-face conversations, even when I cant be physically together. Skype also offers a wide range of futures like screen sharing, file sharing, and group calls, which make it a versatile and convenient communication tool.

Cons

I can't speak for everyone, but I find the user interface of Skype to be a bit overwhelming at times. especially for new users.

Skype - A Great Communication Tool

Reviewed 2 years ago

The overall experience of using Skype was good. When I found out that I could use Skype to make a video call with my brother, I was excited. He had not used Skype for a while, so I figured that we could make a good video call. The quality of the call was good. We also tried a group call as well and quality of the call was good as well.

Pros

1. Skype is a great communication tool to connect with friends and family in an inexpensive, convenient, and easy way. It has revolutionized communication in the past few years and continues to grow rapidly 2. Skype is a popular free online instant messaging and VOIP service that allows users to make voice or video calls to other people on their Skype contacts list. 3.Skype is free, and most of the...

Cons

1. Heightened cyber risk, less control over the content of your messages, and a higher chance of being the victim of a phishing scam 2. When you use Skype, At times you have to pay for it, and it uses up data, which is something you don’t want to pay for when you don’t need it.

It's easy for me to communicate with others when I utilize Skype

Reviewed 2 years ago

For both personal and business reasons, Skype is a terrific way to connect quickly and effortlessly. It helps you to feel as if you're in the same place. If you don't want to bother with video or audio, this is a convenient way to communicate fast and effectively. For group talks, I don't think this is a good fit. The maximum group size is ten. Because Google Hangouts was free, we used it for small group calls and GoToMeeting for bigger ones. A fee-based service like GoToMeeting was well-suited for this purpose, though.

Pros

Skype is a fantastic tool for chatting, video conferencing, and more. You may download and use it for free; even beginners can get started right away because it's so simple to use. Text, audio, or video can all be used to communicate. Skype is a cross-platform application that may be used on a variety of devices. Skype has the potential to improve the productivity of business users. You can invite...

Cons

Skype itself is not a problem for me; it's Microsoft's approach to it that bothers me. Skype will no longer be supported by Microsoft in Windows 11. To utilize Skype on Windows 10, you'll need to get used to Microsoft Teams, which is essential for greater security and additional features in Windows 11.
