Pros

It is so powerful, and I know I'm barely scraping the surface of what all it's capable of. It is amazing for tracking progress, analyzing data, and staying organzied.
I like the ease of this software to input my numbers that have been acquired over the year and is a good reference to keep my numbers straight.
I would easily recommend it as it's perfect for kids in school, in the work place etc. All it's features are detailed and open doors for me to be as creative as I want to be.

Pros

The best features of Slack are its innovative interface and easy to use features. Slack makes it simple, and even kind of fun, to communicate with your coworkers quickly.
I like the different slack channels for various departments, tech-support, team, individual messaging, and celebrating my teams successes or helping each other out with account challenges.
Slack has been a winner for me no matter which role I am filling. Teams adopt it quickly it's easy to use, easy to set up, and has abundant opportunities for integrations.

Cons

Some of the error messages are hard to decipher when using the software and the functions have confusing variables to put in at times.
The software cannot be readily integrated or harmonized with other information systems. The software is totally insensitive to human errors; it does not prompt the user when there is an error.
When there is a large amount of data entered into a spreadsheet it's inevitable to have trivial human mistakes made. Sometimes it's very difficult to find those mistakes later.

Cons

While they are only visible to me, I am always worried that I accidentally posted something wrong.
I disliked the inability to make a public group "private" after it's creation. Would occasionally lag and my.
I hate hate hate how often I struggle with using the video share and audio when someone calls me on slack. It almost never works for me.

Microsoft Excel

Excel: The De Facto Standard of Spreadsheets

Reviewed 3 years ago

Positive. I have used many substitutes and alternatives including Google Sheets, Numbers, OpenOffice, and LibreOffice but Excel keeps coming back around every time.

Pros

It has come along way in the decade and a half I have been using it. The newest implementation seems to be geared more towards the end-user than ever before. Usability with software is paramount to having a successful application. Microsoft has had ups and downs over the years but this one is obviously in an upswing.

Cons

It's not so much the software's fault, but I really wish there were more hints and help with the basic use of formulas. I always slack when it comes to that. Numbers for Mac seems to have an advantage over Excel in this department.

Slack is an excellent collaboration tool and very user friendly

Reviewed 2 years ago

Slack is the application that is probably used most in our daily operations. It makes communicating and collaborating easy, especially with remote workers.

Pros

It's easy to create channels for specific departments and keep everyone in the loop. There are some useful integrations such as Google calendar. Slack will automatically update your status to "in a meeting" when you have a scheduled meeting on the calendar. The Help Center is also a very useful feature in learning to navigate the app.

Cons

Although there are some great integrations and new features (such as creating and sending video/audio clips), I wish Slack had more application integrations. I think Microsoft Office tools, like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, would be useful to integrate.

Great collaboration tool

Reviewed 10 months ago

I love Slack. It's intuitive and easy to use but powerful at the same time. Yes, the fact that Microsoft Teams can integrate with the office suite seamlessly is convenient but I can live without that in exchange of a better and more reliable interface.

Pros

Great for working with distributed teams. Enables a digital workplace: people can feel as part of a team despite working remotely. Easy to use. Easy to organise projects into channels. Much better UX than Microsoft Teams.

Cons

It doesn't integrate with Microsoft Office like Microsoft Teams does (obviously).

Direct messaging is a must these days, with busy and remote workers. The different channels keep everything organized and ensure that the right people are getting the info they need, without bothering those it doesn't apply to.

Pros

I love the way Slack integrates with different apps like Google and Asana! It's very easy to share documents, coordinate calendars, and make sure everyone is up to date.

Cons

Unfortunately the cost is a challenge for our team, especially when Microsoft Teams is included already with our Microsoft subscription.

Great easy chat to use with large or small teams, but feels less worth it with small teams (for the price I mean).

It was buggy when integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio

Great instant messaging platform

Reviewed 5 years ago

It's helped improve communications between teams without relying on Microsoft licensing

Pros

I love the ease of use, the many different options and plugins and customizations, and the integration of the desktop and mobile applications. Our devs adore it.

Cons

I wish the message history was easier to search. We have the paid product so we do have history save, but I still miss being able to search my conversation history from Skype for Business in Outlook. Also Skype for Business provides screen sharing which is useful in a corporate IT infrastructure environment, although I don't know how feasible it would be to add that to Slack.

Slack is one of the premier collaboration services

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

Slack is very user friendly in terms of layout, and gives Microsoft Teams a run for its money. The ability to create groups for individual projects keeps clutter out of emails while also ensuring only relevant team members receive project communications for projects in which they're involved.

Cons

Slack is expensive compared to other collaboration services (Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc.). With Microsoft Teams included in our Office subscription, we're having a hard time justifying the cost of Slack.

Slack it to me!

Reviewed 4 years ago

Team and peer-to-peer communication has been so much easier compared to Microsoft products.

Pros

Search-ability: with other IM services we has no ability to search previous conversations. It made documenting problems that came up impossible. Channels: setting up channels has saved a lot of mass emails Screenshare: with employees in the US, India and Mexico we can easily communicate internationally, easily sharing screens

Cons

I really don't have any complaints. But the functionality does vary based on how much integration IT is willing to do.

Reviewed 4 years ago

I wasn't too impressed with Slack overall. It's a good tool, but it isn't great. Microsoft Teams and Twist have come a long way to rival Slack (especially Microsoft Teams). Slack needs to make some changes to keep up.

Pros

The thing I enjoyed the most about Slack was the ability to integrate a large number of applications and services with it.

Cons

The Desktop Client is kind of slow and clunky compared to alternatives, and there are other paid (and free options) which provide more functionality nowadays.
