Great tool but Google Docs is free

2019-03-01

n/a - google docs

Pros

The ability to have office programs on all my devices without having to pay extra was nice. Wish there was an all in one app that does it all. That might improve the user experience.

Cons

As mentioned in title Google docs is free and does the same thing minus an email client.

Great in theory and sometimes in practice

2019-01-30

Honestly, I prefer google docs and its free.

Pros

ideally it allows you to share and store documents within an organization making it much easier to work together

Cons

the feature to have multiple people using and editing a document at once often doesn't work for us. Some of our staff have had issues with making changes and then the document not syncing, so the rest of the staff cant see the changes they made. this is a little better if you are logging in to the online portal, but when you are using the desktop to access we have had a lot of issues.

An expensive version of the free Google Doc

2018-09-20

Now we use Google Docs which I believe does the job far better and for free!

Pros

It does some of the things that Google Docs does.

There's really no other choice

2018-10-09

Certainly leagues better than Google Docs or Apple's horrendous option.

Pros

It's ease of use is pretty solid. I thought it was just a cloud service but I only found out recently you can install local instances, which is super helpful.

Cons

It's really painfully slow to launch and a lot of the menus are a bit confusing to navigate.

If you really need your Word and Excel fix, office 365 will do the job

2018-08-28

If you aren't yet used to google docs / sheets, office 365 is a comfortable alternative.

Pros

You can still download the product and install it, which is recommended if you want to work offline. There are also SaaS based versions. Generally all of your favorite Word / Excel functions are available and the collaboration aspects are improving.

Cons

I preferred the existing pricing model since now I have to renew every year. However if you search around you can find some fairly decent deals.

Meh.

2019-02-02

Pros

This software isnt my favorite. It seems like microsoft really just threw this out there in order to have a competitive state with others. However, it does have online functionality so it is not necessary to download an app.

Cons

I don't like how this is a competitor with google docs. I feel like google docs is much easier to use with functionality.

The defacto Office software suite

2019-02-01

I have been using Google Suite for years but due to work have started using Office 365 and have found this new version of Office to be fairly easy to use.

Pros

Lots of features and makes it easy to collaborate with others. While the Office products have been around for a long time they have not always facilitated collaboration. Office 365 makes it easy to create and share documents where others can collaborate and work on them with you.

Cons

Can be pricey compared to other options such as google docs and sheets.

Office 365 is not necessary

2018-12-06

There are many updates, which obviously will help overall performance, but take time. There is not a great, affordable solution for small offices.

Pros

It is familiar, covers various office needs, and is fairly simple to teach to volunteers who need to accomplish simple tasks.

Cons

Considering the availability of the likes of Google Docs, it has become somewhat cumbersome and overpriced.

Great for Word

2019-01-21

I use it 99% of the time for completing typed up documents and I love it.

Pros

I use mostly the Microsoft Word future. I have done so many assignments with it and it helps you add graphs, pictures, charts, etc easily. It is my go-to for any time I need to type something.

Cons

No cons, but it would be cool if it was online cloud based like Google Docs.

Microsoft Office 365

2019-01-16

I've enjoyed using Office 365 for business & personal purposes for over a decade! I just recently installed 365 on my brand new laptop and I'm very pleased with the simple sign-up & installation process.

Pros

I like how Office 365 integrates Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. into one easy-to-use, affordable package.

Cons

Sometimes formatting from Google Docs/Word Docs is goofy and doesn't keep bullet points in line.

Never Dissapoints

2018-09-12

This service has never failed me previously as a student or now as a telecom employee.

Pros

Its different programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are super user-friendly and something that everyone who has used a computer in their lives is at least somewhat familiar with it. We use these tools all the time for our small business

Cons

As far as I have found out, there is no share functions that cloud-based document editing services (Google Docs) offer.

Google Docs - Seamless, But Only Sometimes

2019-01-03

Although Google Docs lacks many capabilities typically offered in Microsoft Office 365, I use this powerful free software to collaborate in real-time with friends and associates and have never had any issues.

Pros

Great tool for those that do not own Microsoft Office with an ergonomic design. Not to mention it is free to use and easy for collaboration and sharing with my business associates and friends. Seamless export with a variety of format options.

Weak and non sophisticated version of MS excel.

I have to use it for work though I would prefer MS Office 365

Pros

Ability to work on Projects real time and collaborate with others. The ability to set viewing/use rights and permissions.

Cons

Glitches, inability to do full spreadsheet work. There are some definite lags in formula calculations. Inability to connect to Databases. The level of sophistication and speed of Excel well excels that of Sheets. Limited to 10000ish rows. Really designed for simple real collaboration.

Great free cloud based office tool for education.

2018-01-01

Pros

First of all it's in the cloud. This and it's versioning feature and online recycle bin makes it resilient to local virus treats. If the local servers are hit all you need to do is get the internet and wifi backup and all your chromebooks are good to go! It's also easy to monitor for inappropriate use. It also integrates into google classroom well.

Cons

It's not as feature rich as Microsoft Word especially in Office 365 but it makes up for this in price and ease to use.

The perfect set of Office Tools

2018-05-15

Saves money for users who do not need the full MS Office suite but need access to basic tools.

Pros

Offers you basic use office tools for spreadsheets, documents and even presentations. Very simple to use and compatible to MS office products.

Cons

missing a few of the bells and whistles that Office 365 has but it comes free with Gmail so you can't argue the price!

Google Docs is great and is integrated w/Gmail, but in my honest opinion Office 365 wins

2018-08-26

Pros

Accessibility, integration with Gmail, Easiness to share document, Browser compatibility, speed

Cons

Microsoft Office 365 is more integrated with in office setting and is overall better to use as it is more similar to the office suite.

Great substitute for Microsoft Office 365

2018-07-27

Pros

Cannot beat free software. Google docs is easy to use and has simple interfaces that work for quick jobs.

Cons

Requires some plugins to fully use everything but aside from that it is a great system and nice work around from using Microsoft office 365.

Alternative to Word Without slowing your computer down

2018-09-11

Pros

To be fair I prefer Microsoft Word as it is the more universally used option but with that being said Google Docs is a great option for those who not only want a free Word Processing platform but who also dont want to have limited features like something like Open Office. The biggest Pro to me is that its not as much as a resource hog as Word.

Cons

Growing and has mass improvements, but its still not as widely used as Word which makes it an option only if you dont have Office 365

Good software, but still not a great alternative to Office

2017-10-10

Pros

I like the ability when working online with google drive to edit online. The price is also right being a free software for the most part

Cons

The online versions are not as powerful as office 365 online either

Pros

Great tool for collaboration outside of work projects where not everyone has access to corporate systems (eg office 365)

Cons

We have had some issues in the past with compatibility between systems eg goggle docs versus ms word docs

Google Docs is just awesome

2018-03-15

Pros

It's available on all my devices, it's free, I can do almost anything I would normally do in Microsoft Office 365 but all online and from anywhere.

Cons

Google Docs doesn't support all of the functionality that you get in something like Office 365 but it's pretty close for most of what a typical document/spreadsheet user would need.
