Pros

Very positive experience - any successful business would find significant efficiencies and opportunities by moving to 365.
I love how secure the platform is, the software is easy to navigate. I love the fact that it is accessable worldwide.
We utilize all that the product has to offer on a daily basis and are quite happy with the product. It helps us manage our business better and provides the tools necessary to communicate effectively.

Pros

The fact it's free is amazing. It's a great choice for personal or small business or non-profits.
I love this it's free, easy to use, comparable to Excel, and accessible on multiple devices. I use it mainly for my budget, which has not only helped me save a lot of money but plan for the future.
I like it because It's % 100 Free app from google and it's very easy to use with a clean and useful user interface. I like how I can create many sheets in one project and use other sheets format.

Cons

This is the sort of thing the hard drive resident application never struggled with. Conditional formatting layered up is the sort of thing that causes problems.
Sometimes i get logged out and have trouble logging back in. This is very rare but can be confusing and upsetting as everything is on there.
I hate, hate, hate, hate the fact that you cannot install each app on its own. It is pointless to force people who only need Excel or Word to install EVERYTHING.

Cons

When downloading to a Word document on your laptop, there is often formatting error and glitches which can be annoying.
Google Sheets suffers from severe slowdowns when working with a few hundred rows of data. Don’t even bother if there are complex equations within those rows.
It can be frustrating when there's no information online about troubleshooting some formula errors.

Love the Microsoft Product line

Reviewed 4 years ago

I really enjoy using Microsoft products for business and personal needs.

Pros

I got this product for free through my school University of Illinois. I would not want any other software for my computer and I love using it for personal and school use.

Cons

It is not good for collaborating compared to google products like google sheets and google documents.

Good port of Office

Reviewed 5 years ago

I've used Office365 on multiple projects, and it alleviates the need to carry around your laptop to access office documents because the application and the document reside on one machine.

Faithful port of desktop counterparts to online. Impressive accomplishment.

Formulas between Google Sheets formulas don't import well into.

So much power in such a small package!

Reviewed 4 years ago

Great and trying to compete with google docs/sheets etc.

Pros

Excel speaks for itself. It is the goto for data crunching. Word and templates are must use on daily basis. I just started using Notes and syncs up to my phone. needs a little more polishing.

Cons

Excel is very complex and has quite a learning curve. I would like notes to be able to sync with calendar and events and better ways to organize and create lists. It's still a bit clunky of a UI.

Office 365 review

Reviewed 4 years ago

My experience has been great. The only issue is that it is something that costs money when other options are free that do similar options.

Pros

I think the functions of Microsoft word and excel are better than anything else. I do not believe that any other product comes close to what Microsoft offers in terms of functions and ease of use.

Cons

It is difficult to compete with something free. Google sheets and Google forms are solid options that are free.

The defacto Office software suite

Reviewed 5 years ago

I have been using Google Suite for years but due to work have started using Office 365 and have found this new version of Office to be fairly easy to use.

Pros

Lots of features and makes it easy to collaborate with others. While the Office products have been around for a long time they have not always facilitated collaboration. Office 365 makes it easy to create and share documents where others can collaborate and work on them with you.

Cons

Can be pricey compared to other options such as google docs and sheets.

Microsoft Office 365 for Mac users

Reviewed 5 years ago

I really only use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, although outlook and OneNote can come in handy sometimes. Microsoft excel is probably the biggest benefit to Office 365. Honestly the biggest benefit I guess would be from the updates that you receive every time there is an update available. I didn't get much use out of the other features of office 365. However, I would like to see more updates for Mac users to make their software more compatible with Mac. It just seems a little bit more buggy on Mac OSX also. Overall I was moderately happy with Office 365 it's useful but it's not amazing for one I don't like paying the subscription fee and for two if I am paying the subscription fee I expect the software to work flawlessly on Mac and it doesn't.

Pros

-Excel Macros: For me, I am in the SEO industry so I use Excel quite a bit. I switch off between Google Sheets and excel sometimes there are things where Google Sheets is better such as when I need to use certain scripting (google apps script) for automation. Other times Excel macros are much better. For example, if I need to create macros to manage thousands of keywords Excel macros works much better than Google Sheets. Its a desktop app, so this makes sense. But there is one caveat: It's sometimes buggy on mac osx.

Cons

-Buggy on Mac OSX: When I least like about Microsoft Office is it's kind of buggy with Mac OS X. Sure it works fine for everyday use but for my case I like to use Excel macros to automate the handling of thousands of keywords. A lot of times when I have thousands of keywords and I run macros it will freeze on my Mac computer. The application will freeze whereas if I hop all over onto a Windows machine...

Collaboration isn't as easy as GSuite

Pros

Full suite of tools and products that we grew up with and are already familiar with (Word, Excel, etc).

Cons

The online editing of docs and spreadsheets just isn't as good as Google Suite. For example, after clicking on a linked spreadsheet, you have to further click Edit online before you can make changes (whereas with Google Sheets, you can edit it right away). The UI also seems slower than Docs or Sheets.

Microsoft's suite of products with extra features

Reviewed 4 years ago

Microsoft Office 365 is good for people who must have Word, Excel, Powerpoint, or other Microsoft products and there isn't anything wrong with these products but when you compare them to what else you can get from other providers for much less that is something that users have to consider.

Pros

Microsoft Office 365 is the subscription-based service for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc... The main thing that Office 365 does in addition to simply buying the program with a 1-time fee is gives the user the ability to add the programs on 5 devices instead of 1 and the ability to have cloud storage for all of their files up to 1 Tb.

Cons

When looking at this service, one of the main things to consider is how it compares to Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive in general. The subscription fee for Office 365 has a lot of similar things that Google offers at no cost.

Great, affordable Office Suite!

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall a positive experience, I would like something similar to Google Docs/Sheets/G Suite if possible in terms of collaboration.

Pros

What I like the most about Office 365 is having the full range of the most updated software for the Microsoft Office Suite. Unlike buying the software one-time, you can pay a small cost each month to have the latest and greatest version of the tools you use on a daily basis.

Cons

What I did not like about the software was that it was lacking in collaboration as compared to Google Sheets, which allows you to view and edit documents at the same time as others.

A must have for businesses. Monthly subscription is awesome!

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

I remember the days when you would have to purchase this software every few years it was updated if you wanted the newest features. With a monthly/annual subscription, you don't have to worry about it anymore. I love office and has gotten much better over the years I have used it. Now being able to install this to 5 of my office computers or share my 365 features with my employees! Features like these make it worthwhile especially if you have serval devices. There really isn't anything else I would recommend but google doc, slide, and sheets are the next best thing.

Cons

There really isn't anything bad about office I can say other then I don't like excel and prefer to use google sheets.

Not worth the money

Reviewed 5 years ago

Real pain. Moving from GSuite to Office365 complicated everything. Even simple tasks like uploading videos to Social Media channels has become a tedious task as MS is very territorial. I am very unhappy having to work with this software as it has added a lot of unnecessary user processes to my daily work.

Pros

All products in same place. Sorry to say, I don't see any pros in this software.

Cons

It is messy, complicated and offers inflexible apps. Google Sheets and Forms are far better products than the equivalent apps in Office365.

Google Sheets meets Legacy Excel

Reviewed 5 years ago

It's great. We often move between different conference rooms that each have their own fixed desktop PC. This way we can access files without having the file saved locally on each machine. It's disappointing that we have to pay an ongoing fee, but you get what you pay for.

Pros

Microsoft Excel is more robust than Google Sheets, but you always had to have your file saved locally, which was a pain. This software is the best of both worlds. The robust software of Excel with the availability of Sheets.

Cons

I dislike that they moved from a fixed price to a SaaS model, but I understand it. They have to maintain the servers necessary to support cloud support, which isn't free.

Microsoft for the old timer

Reviewed 2 years ago

I have been using Office (now 365) since I can remember and I will always like how the continue to stick to the basics. Excel is probably the most powerful tool in the world.

Pros

Microsoft 365 offers the same software we all have known for years which amazingly continues to work sharply. Power point and excel are two all timers that every company needs to have.

Cons

Their cloud system is not the greatest compared to google sheets, which gives an advantage to the later one in these work from home days.

Microsoft Office Review

Reviewed 4 years ago

Very good and simple to use. Few things here and there that can be annoying like if you write a long word document, the computer starts to slow down a bit. Even so it's still a very good software for business and personal use.

Pros

I can continue to work on any device without any hassle of transferring files from one device to another. I just have to be signed in to Office 365 and sync my devices. I work a lot with excel and the formulas. Excel has the help feature which shows you all the different formulas and how to calculate specific problems.

Cons

The price for the software is a bit expensive compared to others like LibreOffice and Google Sheets but Office wins in terms of features and tools.

All you need in one platform

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall it is great! I love that anyone in the organization can collaborate on Microsoft word, excel, powerpoint online, similar to Google docs, slides, and sheets.

Pros

All the Microsoft products you need in one platform. This is huge for businesses to save money with Microsoft 365 for business to roll out these important products across the organization. Users can use all the products they need at a fraction of the cost as it would cost for organizations to get each user all products separately.

Cons

Setting up outlook on a mac can be somewhat of a tedious process, but once it is set up, you should be good to go. So just one time installation issues, but once solved it is smooth sailing.

Reviewed 2 years ago

Meh.

Pros

Microsoft 365 is the champion for specific and intricate tasks. Google does not do many, many of the things 365 can. Excel and its numerous features are thousands of rungs up the ladder from Google sheets.

Cons

Constant updates. I appreciate they are making tweaks and improvements, perhaps it could be on a limited release schedule. Some features/UI is outdated and not simple. Real-time collaboration is awkward and takes numerous steps and apps to set up (unlike google)

Includes Everything You Need

Reviewed 4 years ago

My experience has been great. These products work for users at every level.

Pros

I'm a huge fan of the Microsoft 365 products. I use them frequently and love all of the features offered for each of their apps.

Cons

I would love to see collaborative features similar to those with Google Slides, Sheets, etc. without the need to email documents to other parties you're working with.

Just as Powerful as Excel

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

It's a great alternative to Microsoft Excel. For clients who aren't able to afford the Office 365 pricing, this is a great option.

Cons

If you have used Excel for years, there can be a little bit of a learning curve.

Excellent alternative to MS Excel

Reviewed 4 years ago

Before Office 365, this was the gold standard for collaborative number crunching. Now that Office 365 offers collaboration and online editing, the gap is quickly closing, so if you are in a Windows environment it may be best to stick to Microsoft. For cross-platform environments, this is a solid option.

Pros

Intuitive and flexible spreadsheet software, with the added benefit of being native to the cloud. Very well-versed for collaborative editing, with simultaneous editing and solid version control. Good mix of available formulas for most non-specialized uses. Has some neat capabilities to dynamically pull data from online sources (e.g. exchange rates). Solid mobile apps.

Cons

Feature set is not as rich as Microsoft Excel, and some workflows must be adapted accordingly. For example, the fact that it is primarily accessed in-browser limits the amount of available keyboard shortcuts.

Best Cloud Based Spreadsheet out there

Reviewed 5 years ago

I've used this for both personal and business purposes and have always been satisfied with what it provides. Frankly, this is what Microsoft should be emulating for their cloud based system.

Pros

Very closely mirrors Excel, while being accessible to anyone who has been given access. This absolutely puts Microsoft 365 to shame. There is simply no comparison. I have used Google Sheets for years and I will continue to do so.

Cons

Definitely limited in so far as some of the formulas and native capabilities for the version of Excel that we are all used to, but that is constantly improving and super heavy formula calculations aren't the main focus of this software.

Great free alternative tool for non advanced usage

Reviewed 4 years ago

I must say not bad. Since Microsoft has enabled Excel online on all live accounts i tend tu use this one less. I have no problems with Google Sheets, just Windows 10, Office 365 and live.com accounts leverage toward Microsoft options. If there was no Office for Android, Excel for Android, and PC or OSX version i would use ti more often.

Pros

Price, you get Google Sheets free on Google account. Intuitive interface makes it easy to use, especially for users who have experience with Microsoft Excel application.

Cons

Sometimes it is imposible to do some advanced stuff. This app is on par with Microsoft Excel online ( Bussiness Cloud app), but no match for PC or OSX version.

It is easy to create an account and start using right then and there.

Pros

Google sheet is easier to use during the lockdown as everyone working from home. Since the sheet is online everyone with the access can use the sheet.

Cons

Some of the excel function such as sorting is not user friendly. Sometimes, I had to download the file and work on local version and reupload it. Now we have switched to Microsoft 365. But, my personal worksheet is still in google sheet.

A workable worksheet solution when you don't have Excel

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Google Sheet's main strength is its portability. You can work from any place. It was the best collaborative tool before Microsoft 365. It now has most of the features Excel has. Its filtering system for unique user's is an amazing and useful tool.

Cons

But still, there is a long way to go. Excel's table formatting is missing and Excel's working ability offline also makes it more versatile and helps me to demo when I am in a client's office more convenient. Shortcuts are more complex and most of the time doesn't work.

Sheets vs Excel

Reviewed 6 years ago

It works better than Microsoft 365 (cloud version only) but my preference when working with a Spreadsheet is still Excel, then Sheets. I still think the major advantage is the sharing ability and being able to set whether one can view or edit when shared.

Pros

The ability to share and edit together with others

Cons

Not enough features ...used to Excel and like ALL the features that allows. Sheets seems limited in the tasks it can do. Don't like the conversion & lack of ability to change page set up/margins much when printing

Easy to use, and we have a company subscription included in Gsuite, it's hardly can be beat with the integration with other products and services.

Pros

Google Sheets is an alternative to Microsoft Excel. It's a great way to create and edit spreadsheets. Using formulas works similar enough to Excel. Fill handle, importing data from different sources like CSV, are all available. The price is competitive with office 365.

Cons

Unfortunately the next generation will grow up using this, but my generation learned excel in school. It's not a real con, but the first product someone things of, does make a difference. It's like when someone mentions carnation, when they describe evaporated milk.

Definitely a powerful contender against other productivity spreadsheet options out there.

Pros

This is an excellent solution, even as freeware. Even though we utilize Microsoft 365 as an organization, when working with clients on G-Suite, it's easy to transition/convert files and projects over.Depending on usage, Sheets becomes a bit more powerful with App Scripts compared to Excel.

Cons

There's a learning curve if you're used to building and running macros coming from other platforms.

Much Better than Excel

Reviewed 5 years ago

In this day and age, you need to be able to work while moving around. Microsoft does not work well this way unless you have have an office 365 account. Google works a different way and if you have a g suite account you can maximize the integrations!

Pros

The best part is that I can access this software from any computer. I dont need to have the software. I can also make edits from my phone or tablet. You can do much more this way.

Cons

It takes a bit of getting used to when switching from excel.

Thrilled with Google Sheets as a replacement for Excel in the workspace

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Compared to Office 365, the free Google Sheets tool really can't be beat unless you really need to stay in the Microsoft ecosystem for some reason. Collaboration is a breeze, and you can use custom formulas and export them to Data Studio (I use it for digital analytics reporting).

Cons

When you import Excel files to Sheets, it doesn't perfectly represent the original spreadsheet, but it gets pretty close most of the time.

My overall experience with Google Sheets has been very positive.

Pros

I love Google Sheets! It is so easy to use, and I love how you can access it from wherever you are, as long as you sign into your Gmail account.

Cons

The only issue I have with Google Sheets is how it can't seem to connect to Excel. My home computer doesn't have Microsoft 365 and I wish Google Sheets and Excel would talk to each other, so I can open a document from work on my home computer.

Google Sheets is very effective for team projects

Reviewed 6 years ago

Overall a great experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a free and effective solution to sharing documents with their team. It also means you can work/edit/view the most up to date version of the document no matter where you are.

Pros

That it was free and made it easy for college groups to edit the same spreadsheet over a cloud-based system. This also means it could be easily reviewed and shared with others. I would recommend this to small start-ups that can't afford a Office 365 suite.

Cons

It lagged a little bit when compared to Office 365's suite

Pros

It can do the same things as Microsoft Excel, but it doesn't have the price tag of Office 365. You can make graphs, spreadsheets, and much more. Sure it may be lacking some of the features that Excel has, but considering it is free. It does an absolutely splendid job.

Cons

Pretty much nothing. The fact that it's free and that it is just like Excel makes it a very strong option for anybody who needs the function of Excel but doesn't want the price.
