Notion Rocks

I feel every business should have a Notion account. It is versatile, easy to use, a customizers heaven. Plus I have fell in love with the Icon stile, it is different from almost all other tools and bring a breath of fresh air.

Pros
The first thing that stands out is the price, It's insanely cheap given the value that you are getting. When you first open the application it seems bland and boring but as soon as you realize the potential your first thought is to hop back to the pricing page to see if you didn't misread the price (that's what I did). Easy to get started and super easy to use, I also feel that it's over capacitated (there's nothing I personally has looked for and didn't find and then some).

Cons
I'm trying hard to come up with just one thing that I feel the platform needs to improve and seriously I'm stuck. I'm not saying there isn't one but for me personally I haven't found one.

Some members on our team desperately wanted to use it. They seem fully content with it, but to me it's overly complicated: I just wanted to take notes and share with my team, not pick header images, emojis and page layouts from seemingly infinite options! If you're a product person, you'll probably love it. If not, you might want to take a look at some simpler (and cheaper) alternatives.

Pros
I'm a big fan of the design and overall look and feel of the app, however...

Cons
The app is slow. Getting to know the intricacies of Notion is almost a full-time job. The price is pretty steep.

Notion has way too many features but this doesn't get in the way of having a very usable product

Very positive experience overall and beats the competition in terms of value for price.

Pros
Notion offers a ton of value for the price. I started using Notion for my personal note-taking, which is a great way to get familiar with it without having to pay anything. Then, when our team was growing and we needed a more robust internal wiki product, Notion was the first thing everyone on the team shouted when we realized we were outgrowing our previous wiki product.

Cons
Notion, perhaps, has too many features. The team has done a really good job of keeping all the bells and whistles from getting in the way, but all the plugins and item types do mean that a user can easily get distracted or set up an overly complicated page. Also, the search feature seems to take a little too long and produce duplicate results (i.e. if a search matches a term in multiple parts of a single page). I find myself struggling to understand what the search results are showing me sometimes.

I am making a swtich to notion from onenote to capture meeting notes, thoughts on a project and make database on projects. It has not turned me down. It does have a steep learning curve which might be a turnoff if you are not open to change.

Pros
Notion stands out as a very strong alternative to notes organizer (i was previously using onenote) for following reasons: 1) database: notion allows to make table with all sort of features: tags, date, reminder, sorting (1st,2nd,3rd order sorting) 2) cross-platform and web-based 3) limitless: has a to-do list, can be used as a personal wiki

Cons
1) needs wifi: no offline support 2) not free but price is affordable 3) may be limited by your company's vpn: since it has data storage capacity, prior to switch pl ensure your hospital allows the app 4) steep learning curve

Perfect product, priced exactly as it should be.

Pros
Notions acts as a backbone of your team in a term of article storage and discussion place. You see, it is very easy to say "a lot of systems offer article and document storage" but in reality most of them lack clean representation, simple but working hierarchy, sound way to discuss the document, comment it, and notify about the changes. More, notions allows you to attach arbitrary files and images to the document. You may even expose some pages of notion as a part of your website and they do look organic! Tables, icons, images, backrounds, labels - it is all there. Right you may name a lot of similar systems, but there is an distinctive thing about notions: it is concentrated on articles and information and it does that great! Notion offers very easy to learn, fast way to create document, similar to one you may find on Medium. We've tried a number of different approaches, including basecamp, confluence, slack, dropbox paper - notions is a clear winner. Notions does have native application for the both desktops and mobile systems. Notion may be integrated with a number of other products including Slack. You may even build your website using nothing else but notion itself. Notion requires just a bit of time to understand how much actually can be expressed with text, tables, checkboxes, labels, comments, images and files. This is revolution made using the set of a very simple things.

Cons
Here I am looking at 100min counter and having no idea what to write. The only thing what I am really scared of is that notion may attempt to change the focus and instead of master of articles become jack of all trades. Right now it is one of the rare products I use every day without any regrets.

Notion can be your organization's brain; how smart a brain it is depends how much work you put into it.

Pros
For better or worse, Notion truly has it all--author documents, create hierarchies of user stores and tasks, store files, you name it. If you are a new organization not already invested in other tools, Notion could be a silver bullet and a bargain for everything it provides. Teams already tangled up with other products will have to do some testing and gap analysis to see if it's a good fit.

Cons
With many features can come great confusion. Inevitably, you will have a graveyard of pages and items in Notion that no longer add value and yet occupy your visual space everyday. Plan to designate a project manager or team member who is responsible for 'cleaning things up.' This can be a tough job when you are having to decide what to do with documents written by others that are now months or years old.

My overall experience with notion has been amazing. Setup was not too confusing at all and being able to use the product anywhere (even mobile) has been phenomenal.

Pros
I love notion because of its intuitive interface and cross platform capabilities. I can use it on my mac or on my phone and be able to easily work on various items that my team is working on and track their activity. It also allows me to store different types of files from PDF's to forms for data collection.

Cons
I least liked that notion's pricing model is confusing and it took me a while to actually understand the difference between the monthly and yearly pricing structure and how I was to be billed.

For me the best things of Notion are: Incredibly good for relating information, I can find anything fast. Everything is easy to see. The visualization es awsome. It sustitutes many other software, all in Notion is just great (not spreedshets)

Pros
Its versatility is awesome. I have use it for the last three years. At the begining I used it to store information. then I upgraded my workspace to start collaborating with others, then as an ERP, now I host courses on Notion and even use it to design and use simple webpages, easy and cheap!

Cons
The Api is now resolving a lot of weak points that Notion had, but one for which I haven't found a good solution is communication within the app. Many of us just use Whatsapp and a screenshot rather than communicate on the page.

Pros
We use Notion in combination with Trello for managing tasks -- certain lightweight todos are simply better done in Trello. Notion is amazing for (1) organizing thoughts and (2) quickly doing web pages in combination with Potion.so

Cons
feature requests 0. please make the API public soonest! 1. bulk edit of blocks, cells, rows — change background, set value, etc. 2. raw HTML & CSS blocks, even if restrict JS — for custom UI elements, e.g., <button> 3. content justify — better low-code websites 4. columns in columns — same 5. better column drag

Pros
Sometimes I work with external teams and I need to be able to share notes with them. Notion is easy to use as I can collaborate while on the move as it is available on iOS and makes it easier to update from there. I can even make separate workspaces so there is no overlap with others and work is partitioned. I can use it as a calendar and task manager and that makes my life easier as I don't have to use the stock app on my iPhone. It is a great way to organize my stuff. The pricing is affordable and that's what makes it a contender.

Notion: The Best FREE Note-taking software to date!

Used daily for 2+ years
Reviewed 2020-12-22
Review Source: Capterra

Ultimately, I would recommend Notion to anyone in an instant. It has a suite of features, user-friendly UI and organisation benefits. Furthermore, the personal subscription recently became free for everyone and the business prices are reasonable, giving people no reason not to use Notion. I believe that Nation can fit into many workflows very easily due to its plethora of features.

Pros
Notion is absolutely brimming with useful features and is the Swiss army knife of note-taking applications. The overall software is so minimalistic and intuitive to use that I personally learnt it within a few days. The whole software revolves around using "/ " to create blocks and edit text; for example, a /toggle would create a toggle block which acts as a dot point except that you can hide/show it. This makes the learning curve of notion virtually non-existent and creates unparalleled flexibility in the structure and style. I find that the simple and uncluttered UI helps clear my mind and focus on the current task. The data management is superb with extensive sorting, classification and customisation features for the spreadsheet and databases functions. The timeline features are also an extremely welcome addition in the recent updates and allow for the seamless moving of date-specific records. There are countless useful templates as well which certainly help give me ideas about what I wanted my Notion notes to look like.

Cons
Some features make little sense and unfortunately cannot be disabled. One of these issues occurs when clicking on a page in a table and it opens up as a tiny square and you need to press "Open as page," to make the page full screen. This is just a small annoyance and is honestly not that big of a deal. Another lacking feature is the scarce customisation options for text formatting however there are solutions to this through Google Text Fonts. There are also a few limitations of the free Personal Plan but if you needed the full collaborative features of Notion, your company would usually pay for that. The offline mode for Notion is frankly quite bad as you have to preload the pages when you have internet beforehand. Otherwise, your notes would be inaccessible. However, this isn't at all a deal-breaker as there is usually internet everywhere. Notion has also indicated that they are focusing on this problem for future updates. The mobile app is also sluggish at times but it is mostly alright.

Pros
It's simple and yet incredibly feature rich, allowing you to customize every page to the way that you process and organize information. The search tool is powerful and with so many formatting/layout options Notion gets rid of the need for Google Docs. The price is also insanely great and their free option let's you try it out first before you commit.

Cons
The only feature I would say is missing is a chat option. Team members can easily collaborate on documents, tagging each other and leaving comments but having a chat feature that functions like Slack would be awesome so it's truly an all in one platform.

Notion is a great tool for doing project documentation and management. The simple possibility to link to blocks of content accross the workspace is great and it offers most of building blocks one can desire. From paragraphs and to-dos to embeded boards from third-party software like Figma and Miro. In the trial you get 1000 buiding blocks for free, which you use up very quickly, since every paragraph is a block. But you can switch to the Private Plan and have unlimited blocks and some collaboration anyway.

Pros
At first I was not convinced about the user interface, but after using it fo r a while everything seems to have its right place on the screen and is really stripped down to its essentials. The content building blocks are a big help and make some constraints for users. Having the possibility to reorder blocks and paragraphs is great and should be integrated in every editor.

Cons
The steep pricing of the team plan and also sometimes it is hard to create a content block at a specific place (right after e divider line etc.) The inability to set default timezone settings for time related calendar items. (still have to switch from AM/PM to 24hrs format)
