Pros

We were amazed that the use of OnBoard during the meeting went so well. I appreciate the ease with which you can change the agenda and and update/revise materials.
OnBoard has been great for our organization and all users enjoy it. Customer service has always been helpful and efficient.
Also, the agenda is super easy to build. And it will be terrific to have all the board documents from our meetings saved on the portal and accessible at any time.

Pros

This has dramatically improved the effectiveness of our meetings and provided a good record of what we addressed and decided.
I really like that I can find all my agenda topics, attached documents and minutes in one place. The integration with Teams is perfect and save us a lot of time from sharing the agenda to the minutes.
Decisions is an amazing product, extremely well thought out and brings clarity to meetings.

Cons

Notifications that uploads have been unsuccessful are a little too subtle - meaning that you can miss it if you are working quickly (as we so often are during board pack creation).
So far i have no come across anything that i dislike about the software.
I am unable to see edit's when change the names to agenda items, however I was able to contact my account rep and he helped me with a workaround as they are working that problem out.

Cons

Some trouble loosing my notes a couple of times.
Would prefer more obvious ways for including guests in meeting agendas. Not integrated into Teams search (this is a Microsoft limitation and would apply to any similar product).
We ran into some issues with Conditional Access Policies within Ofice 365 blocking agenda items being displayed.

Exceptional software and professional employees

Simply the best decision I've made since working with the company for 29 years!

Pros

OnBoard integrated with our existing business processes and board requirements, it is extremely user friendly, administration has been easy thanks to the amazing support staff!

Cons

There is nothing I disliked about OnBoard.

Board Packets

Generally satisfactory after getting used to the software.

Pros

This reduces the amount of paper needed on a monthly basis to prepare our board meetings. It allows directors to review when there schedule allows, and is a secure method of getting info to decision makers.

Cons

If you have a last minute insert to the board packet it can shuffle a directors hand written notes in pages after the insertion.

Hidden Gem

The training and support staff are top-notch. I work with a very experienced board and several have commented that it is one of the better portals they have encountered. I always get a REAL PERSON within a few seconds of calling their support line and they have ALWAYS been able to answer my questions. They take feature requests seriously. I highly recommend them for any board looking to have a better environment for communication and collaboration.

Pros

I researched more than 15 portals before deciding to go with OnBoard. The price and ease of use made the decision very easy for us. It is a clean and intuitive interface with lots of power behind the scenes.

Cons

There are some features like alphabetizing by Last Name or First Name that change depending on which page you are on in the portal which adds some confusion. I'd like the Dashboard design to allow for more more customization.

I am being more productive

No more paper and no more binders for the upcoming Board meetings. Everything is paperless and we absolutely love it. Having a better connection with our Board members this way. We love the feature of minutes, attendance and all other past meetings are all in one place.

Pros

The fact that other of my colleagues at other Ronald McDonald House Charities were already using OnBoard it made it easier for me to make the decision. But once I had the demo sown to me, I definitely wanted to use this program for our Board Members to use.

Cons

So far there is nothing I do not like about the software. I am going to try the program on something new with our Board members to see how it goes. The fact that this has different usages makes it more convenient.

Good starter product for board administration, navigation experience is average, feature limitations

This is the first board management tool we've used, so moving from what we were doing previously to this tool was a positive step for our company. My understanding is that customer support has been fairly responsive but we've gotten a lot of "oh our product doesn't do that...its on the list" or "we limited that feature on purpose because of XYZ."

Pros

OnBoard was a good starter product for our company as our structure has become more complex with multiple supporting organization boards that we are administering. The multi-tenant capabilities of OnBoard and the ease of toggling between different boards was a major driver in our decision to purchase OnBoard.

Cons

The social feed is not great and we had significant issues learning how to post and correctly push communication updates to email and notifications. The opportunities for board interaction are limited. The messaging feature is primitive. The survey and approvals feature is not easy to navigate and tracking responses requires an unnecessary amount of hops.

OnBoard Experience

There are ample Board portals and I have had to do my due diligence on each one and their capabilities, and OnBoard was able to meet all my needs, very pleased with the decision.

Pros

The Governance add-on is very helpful and efficient. As we establish a new normal and meetings are virtual, it almost eliminates the unnecessary travel and inconvenience. From the Account Executive to the Implementation Team, it has been a very smooth transition.

Cons

The meeting minutes add-on will be a nice addition once it is released.

OnBoard Keeps me on-board!

Very positive. Able to get items requiring a vote easily.

Pros

This is a great platform to keep organized, keep your board members informed and perform many consent agenda items prior to in-person meetings, thus making meetings more productive. With the COVID-19 pandemic, this tool has become even more useful, allowing the BOD to function with a safe-guarded environment, executing key decisions.

Cons

More accessible face-to-face interaction - hoping adding ZOOM will accomplish this.

Great Board Software

We have been able to expand the use of the software to support management meetings in addition to the board meeting and the single point of an organized method of archiving docs and decisions is enormously helpful to our operation!

Pros

The ease of access by both the Admin and the board members is probably at the top of the list of great attributes of the OnBoard portal!

Cons

At the moment I really cannot think of anything. There was only one issue which frustrated me when I started using the software and I share it with the Passageway team and they created the change which supported my need!

OnBoard: Supporting Business in the Virtual Meeting Environment

OnBoard has reduced staff time to prepare and post agendas and materials for meetings as well as reducing the number of steps for volunteer leaders to access meeting materials. We can reduce our carbon footprint with an integrated agenda, board book that allows personal notations, and linked votes/approvals in lieu of having to download and print individual files.

Pros

OnBoard allowed us to transition our professional meetings into the virtual environment with controlled access to participate and vote in required decision making through integrated features in a single platform. The streamlined efficiency of notifications, calendars, agendas, meeting materials, and votes/approvals in one location make this a lifeline for a large group of ~75 voting members.

Cons

The current integration with Zoom does not provide an optimal user experience, especially for users who have a single monitor. There are methods to work around this to allow for an improved meeting experience.

Straightforward and Simple

We are a consultancy organisations providing governance and company secretarial solutions. OnBoard solves the problem of having to print, copy and collate packs and send by post and allows last minute changes to be made in one place for everyone with access to papers. I use OnBoard to support board and committee meetings for three different organisations, the users of all of which have been delighted with the product.

Pros

Key functions of OnBoard, such as creating meetings, agendas and meeting packs for Directors to support their decision making, are extremely straightforward and easy to use. This takes away the difficulty and time of having to introduce change to new users, who are instantly aware and easily persuaded of the benefit of having all their important information in one place. The resources section is an ideal place for housing Directors induction materials.

Cons

I dislike the permissions function which I have to consistently check is functioning according to requirement.

Best bang for your buck

Pros

We have not been using OnBoard for too long but we found the onboarding and introduction process to the platform super smooth and easy. Even before we made our decision to buy, the OnBoard team got me a log in so I could actually explore the platform - this was hugely helpful. Also, when comparing to some other platforms, OnBoard offers high quality basic features, and you can leave the bells and whistles, that are sometimes unnecessary, off of the bill.

Cons

We really wanted to sell this new software to our Board and we were hoping to be armed with some customer testimonials and a list of other nation wide nonprofits who also use the platform but the team was not able to deliver this. Otherwise, the team has been very helpful.

OnBoard Board Portal

We are extremely happy with our decision to use OnBoard! We've been very pleased with our CSMs. Recently we rolled out OnBoard to 2 boards and the rep conducted 3 training sessions for our board members with very short notice. It's been great working with her! When reaching out to her, she's been very quick to respond or forward my email on to tech support.

Pros

Easy to learn both from an Admin and end user! Security measures of OnBoard! Great support team truly makes this tool excel above others!

Cons

While building an agenda, sometimes it takes a long time to save edits. This can be frustrating and has resulted in having to re-type edits as they did not save properly. Currently email attachments aren't able to be uploaded to OnBoard without saving the document. Unable to program default admins to all new items vs. currently only individual/creator is default admin. As the owner of the OnBoard tool, I have to rely on others to assign permissions and ensuring human error doesn't happen. It's difficult to assist board admins or board users without access. It would be great to have a Super/Master Admin role which will automatically be assigned with Admin rights.
