Pros

Quick synching and the ability to organise folders and sub-folders is great. Overall, a decent program and certainly useful for small businesses such as myself.
What I like best about this software is its ease of use and integration with Microsoft products and services.
This allow my team members files to be in its own "space" and this was a good thing. This was what I liked about the OneDrive but.

Pros

Express Backup with free physical hardware shipment for initial backup was awesome and convenient. Ability to integrate with Synology DSM is important.
I am happy with the value. So long as you don't expect any wow factor in speed, customer service, and snag free customized setup, I would recommend to anyone looking for a value service.
With cloud storage pricing increasing, IDrive offers a great solution for those looking to switch over to their platform. They offer awesome deals for users that are first time users.

Cons

OneDrive has changed in 2021 and this change has brought about headache for all. No syncing because the OneDrive is locked and awaiting action by users who has no idea as to what is wrong.
Where do I begin, it constant instability, it is very hard to use use, sharing process and access permission are coming from hell and the version control is simply sadistic.
The most problem I have as a user is the sync problem, sometimes it gets stuck and you have to restart your computer.

Cons

Fails from time to time, not sure why. Have to leave the computer on all the time and takes a long time to back up a small amount of files.
Most of the time the backup works as it should. Other times it fails to back up to the cloud my files/folders.
The feature missing that I would want the most is continuous backup. The scheduler allows a daily, and weekly backup and hourly backup only.

OneDrive

Valuable Tool for Storage Online

Reviewed 6 years ago

So happy with the ability to save documents to OneDrive!

Pros

We got OneDrive as part of the Microsoft Office suite and didn't realize how much we would value it. Perfect back-up and online storage every time we use a Microsoft software program, automatically updates our documents and gives us confidence that we can go back and find them without risk of losing on locally saved or portable storage devices.

Cons

Whereas something like iDrive saves all of our document. formats, OneDrive is more limited to Microsoft compatible docs. Understandable given it's from the same company. But it limits our usage.

Pros

Product is easy to use and once set you can just let it be.

Cons

I wish it could backup the OneDrive folder although that may be a universal issue with all backup software.

Ottimo prezzo e tanto spazio. Assistenza OK. Problemi con Android.

Reviewed 2 years ago

IDrive

Easy to use and non-intrusive

Reviewed a year ago

I just needed a reliable off-site backup of my files.

Pros

Easy to set up and specify which folders to back. There is no need to move all your data to a special folder as there is with OneDrive or DropBox. This is a big issue as it lengthens some already long paths I have. Both OneDrive and DropBox actually corrupted and lost my data, whereas iDrive hasn't done that. I get emails and alerts to tell me if a backup has failed for any reason.

Cons

No real problems found.

Adding access and security for your computing life

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

What I like (and use) the most about IDrive is the Cloud Drive feature. I used to use OneDrive, but Cloud Drive is less obtusive. I also like scheduled backups...just in case.

Cons

There is a lot of functionality in iDrive, making some of the more esoteric features tricky to figure out. However, I have not found this to be an issue with the features most important to me.

Excellent backup program

Reviewed 3 years ago

Backups are crucial. Idrive does it well for a very competitive cost and good support. It takes a bit of time to set and learn its functions up but once working, it basically takes care of itself. It's a good program at a good price.

Pros

For years I've used Onedrive but also use Idrive for extra security. One aspect of Idrive I like is that you can do both local and cloud backups. I have external hard drives connected to my two computers and having a physical backup is an extra layer of security that is important. Also, a full restore of a crashed hard drive can take days to do online but probably less than an hour from a local...

Cons

The Idrive interface has a bit of an old fashioned look and setting it up for the first time is less intuitive than it should be. That's where excellent support comes in. But once you figure it out and select the folders to backup, it basically works in the background and can be left alone, for years if necessary without intervention. I did need to contact support to figure out how to backup Outlook files. That's been my only hiccup with the program.

Loads of options;

Reviewed a year ago

I'm still figuring out how I can best us it, but for my use case it seems to give me the functionality I want while remaining very competitively priced. I also feel like with all the options available there may be an opportunity to improve my work flows.

Pros

It's default seems to be as a whole device backup, however it also has fully featured and effective 'cloud drive' functionality. There are tonnes of options (way, way more than google drive, one drive etc) giving me the option of setting up the thing as I want it. It allows me to be very granular with what I backup, what I sync, and in which direction and when it does it (scheduled vs sync).

Cons

Streaming images/videos from it is noticeably slower than from, for example, google drive or onedrive. It's not quite as idiotproof as the main consumer cloud backups. It does not seem possible to move files from the 'cloud drive' into a device backup folder.

Current Best Value in Cloud Storage Backup

Reviewed 2 years ago

iDrive is a great backup solution for individual personal use. I'm hopeful that more family-focused support will be added but it's hard to say when or if that will ever be done.

Pros

The amount of storage space included was the primary selling point. I wanted to be able to backup my entire OneDrive (1TB) and my personal NAS (2TB) and finding anything reasonably priced that could accomodate that wasn't easy. iDrive offers 5TB of cloud backup storage which is perfect for my current needs.

Cons

The ability to add additional user accounts and grant them permissions to backups would be nice. You have the ability to share links with other users but it's only valid for up to 30 days. If I want to share a link with friends/family to be able to access something I don't want to have to send them a new link every month for no reason. iDrive should support non-expiring links or if that's not something...

Clunky, but can’t beat the value

Reviewed a year ago
Pros

The value of dollars per terabyte is incredible

Cons

I only need it for cloud storage, not backup. I started a YouTube channel, and I’m now generating multiple gigabytes every other day. It my local drive and OneDrive simply can’t handle that much data. IDrive only has an interface application for my laptop for backup, not cloud upload. So I need to upload on the somewhat clunky website interface

Feature rich software for a solid price

Reviewed 2 years ago

Quick and Simple. The customer support was quick and to the point, which i much prefer and the software itself run smoothly in the background and is bearly noticable on the network even when doing terabytes of backup like i have been doing.

Pros

The user interface has a variety of different options, but all of which are simple to understand and easy to use without losing out on strong customizability, especially on scheduling jobs. The storage space that you get for the price, is unmatched on the market from what i can tell and is absolutely perfect for large storage backups.

Cons

Not a con per say, but this is clearly designed as a Backup and not a Cloud storage service. Though you can have a "Synced" folder which will act as cloud storage, having the option to choose what files you want to have on each device like on OneDrive would make it alot better, but this is not an issue for me, as i wanted a backup solution and not a cloud storage, for which iDrive is perfcet for.

IDrive great but still currently limited

Reviewed 2 years ago

Great product. In my opinion the best one out there, the best value for money, but with serious limitations still and support can be improved. I have used CrashPlan, OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox, and Google Drive either now or in the past and find that IDrive is now my main go-to source for file level recovery due to versioning. Unfortunately, I can not rely upon it for backups (due to not everything being backed up) and so CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) needs to fill this gap for me until IDrive round out their product.

Pros

Price: it is great value for what you receive. Ease: Easy to setup and use.

Cons

Backup: Backup is unable to do a full backup which includes empty folders. (Empty folders are often used within various business and personal practices as placeholders that themselves contain important information within their file names. Folders are used instead of files because they can be nested. There are many scenarios when empty folders are used and I have thousands of them that I need to backup and retain versioning for which is not currently possible with IDrive unfortunately). IDrive Express: I made a request for this service over 1 week ago. One week later my order is still saying "Your order has been received! We'll start working on it right away." and nobody has yet contacted me about this.

Awful for cloud storage for teams

Reviewed 8 months ago

A nightmare. We are trying to cancel now and I will literally have to download each of hundreds of files individually to get them off the cloud. Their tech support was clear that you cant download folders unless you install the app and sync your computer. Cloud storage should be available in the cloud, not require an app on a specific device and a sync to a device. Other issues too, but these were the major ones.

Pros

Nothing. This software was a nightmare to use and it will take a huge investment of time to undo the damage. We lost so much data and are having to jump through hoops to do even simple tasks.

Cons

They are a like a knockoff Dropbox or OneDrive. They offer cloud storage, but it is in the most limited sense possible. The software is complete garbage if you or any of your team use a PC and don't use the app. They literally won't allow you to download folders from the website (app only). They won't allow you to share links to cloud stored devices except for temp links that expire way too fast. God help you if you sync the app and your computer crashes or gets wiped, then syncs empty. We lost ALL content from one user when that happened. Just awful in every way.

Easy and affordable piece of mind

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

I got IDrive for personal use - I have an extensive family tree that I have been backing up locally but I wanted an off-site solution. I had used OneDrive but I hated it and switched it off. I really like the fact that I have total control over what gets backed up and when. I love that I can also back up my phone having recently had the horrible experience of losing photos on an sd card. It was very easy to install and to get up and running. Restoring files is straightforward and also gives me a lot of flexibility around how I share photos and videos from my phone. That was an unexpected bonus. The initial back-up took quite a long time, but it didn't seem excessive. The pricing seems very fair and there is a good range of choices.

Cons

The mobile app isn't fabulous (I'm on Android) - I read the help text but couldn't select an individual file for restore. Not really a problem since I have access on my desktop.
