Pros and cons

Overall it is a great tool for working with students (they just don't want to speak out loud - but who actually does, right?) Also the integration with almost any tool is awesome.
So easy to set up and so easy to use. Allowing my learners to engage in a different way through sessions is fantastic.
I love the feature that shows you how the polls and questions will look to the user. Plus, it's super easy to set up and execute.
I really cannot tell anything that I was missing.
Sometimes those questions are painful or difficult and participants would be hesitant to ask those questions would it not be for Slido.
Trying to send real-time lists to the tool didn't really work. There was no way to thread the entries.

Excellent tool to engage audience

Reviewed 2 years ago

Simple, intuitive, and exactly what I needed to engage my students

Pros

I just use the free version, but it gave me all the tools I needed to engage the audience in a set of briefings I give frequently. With the free version you are limited to only 3 polls, but that is enough for my use. I have looked at upgrading, and the price is reasonable if you wish to e corporate more polls and other paid features into your briefing

Cons

There is a beta for powerpoint integration, but I couldn't get it to work. But by simply copying the QR code they provided into my presentation, the audience didn't miss out on anything integrated into the presentation

Vendor response

Hi Mark. Thank you for your positive review. It's great to hear that Slido helps you with audience engagement and intraction. I'm sorry to hear that you had troubles with our PowerPoint integration. I'd be happy to investigate this further and see what might've happened. As the integration is only in Beta, we're constantly looking for ways how to improve it. If you have a spare moment, could you please reach out to me at experience@slido.com so we can have a look? Thank you. Adam

At last an easy tool to use live.

Reviewed 7 months ago

I have been using the free version most of the time which is totally adequate for my needs. I have used several of the features for polling or inducing direct audience participant with the Q&A tool. My participants are frequently technology resistant but using Sli.do has caused absolutely no problem ! Simply amazing! Very strong recommandation for this very powerful tool

Pros

Very easy to set up. Great features even for the free versions. Very easy to share Very user friendly interface on the phone or on the desktop browser

Cons

I have been using mostly the free version which is ideal for my needs. The limited featured are a bit frustrating but hey...it is a free version. I The limited time for each survey could be expanded to 2 weeks.

A great tool for educators & audience

Reviewed 5 months ago

Slido is a favorite tool for all of my meetings. It is easy to make meetings more fun and interactive with Slido. I prefer Slido because it's simple to use. Its integration with Powerpoint makes it a go-to choice for me.

Pros

Slido's best features are the polls and online Q&A. It is really easy to integrate with PPT. Slido's polls are so simple to use that I use them to hold polls in my team even when there isn't a meeting. The audience can vote for questions to appear on the list, reducing duplicate questions.

Cons

The pricing plan could be improved. Schedules are limited time only. The limited 3 quiz is frustrating.

Fun way to make trainings interactive

Reviewed 4 months ago

We use this mainly with our 2-day New Hire Orientation, scattered throughout the various trainings.

Pros

It's extremely useful integrating into PowerPoint. It makes trainings fun and interactive, while also testing people's retention of what you've presented.

Cons

On occasion, we'll run into issues where it just doesn't work. No idea what causes this, but we've had a few trainings where we've had to skip using Slido altogether.

A must-have PowerPoint add-on

Reviewed 2 years ago

My overall experience with Slido is good. It works perfectly fine in the PowerPoint itself and has great features I appreciate a lot, such as live pools and, of course, the quizzes. As of now I didn't have any problems while using this software as it works very reliably. I may also mention the Slido Academy, which is a platform that offers loads of video tutorials for getting started with Slido and exploring its many resources. This is such a great add-on!

Pros

What I like the most about Slido is how I can engage with my audience by easily creating live polls and quizzes directly on a PowerPoint presentation and getting instant feedback... all this on real-time! Slido is both fun, pedagogic, easy to use and has incredible features I appreciate a lot. I firstly found Slido while watching a presentation of a colleague and since then I've been using it for many quizzes and Q&As, as it is very easy to access by the participants.

Cons

If I had to point any less good characteristic, I would say that what I like the least about this software is the not so user-friendly layout. I would like to see more of a modern design and I think there is room for improvement there. Other than that, I had not encounter any issues or concerns whatsoever. I'm also aware that the support team is very friendly and responsive, which is great!

We wanted to give a little fun boost to an online workshop and Slido helped us to do just that ;-).

It is so easy to built a questionnaire with Slido, in my case a team quiz. The way it works is quite straight forward.

Nothing really but some features can be enhanced? Maybe some more colors would be great ? Background music ?

Wonderful. Everyone from sales to customer service are friendly, very helpful, and respond super quickly.

Pros

Live onsite responses and use during general session was seamless and easy to use for me and my client who was the moderator.

Cons

I did have to ask customer service how to do things - couldn't find info on the help center very easily. HOWEVER, your customer service is responsive and sent me all the tutorials I needed.

Slido - it's inner mechanics do their thing, you do yours and it all works

Reviewed 6 months ago

My supervisor wanted me to try out Poll Everywhere since Slido has been used (in a more limited way) in some of our agency meetings before. I gave Poll Everywhere a shot but everything about it was a little harder to figure out and I wasn't sure where I was headed, whether the presentation would ultimately meet my basic requirements. As soon as switched over to Slido, it was smooth sailing.

Pros

I was most impressed with the fact that I didn't need to learn much about the mechanics of the Slido features. In most situations, I want to, but in a jam - having to throw together an interactive quiz show for 20 tables of 6 - it was a great relief that everything was at my fingertips and simply worked.

Cons

I expect that at some point I'll try to do just the thing that Slido can't handle, but so the Slido team is leaps and bounds ahead of me in thinking up new ways to engage groups in learning, competition and fun. The only stumbling block I hit was thinking that I would be limited to 3 quiz questions in the Free version because that version limits the number of polls per event to three. When I realized I had confused the two, angel choirs sang (we were down to 90 minutes before departure for the event venue).

Vendor response

Hi Rick, Thank you so much for taking out your time to leave us a review. They help us improve and learn how to even better serve our users, so they truly are much appreciated! Best, Filipa

No better way to get attendees to become participants

Reviewed 3 years ago

I've always had an excellent experience with Slido and I've been using is as a speaker, session participant and event organiser for 4-5 years. The system is solid and really flexible.

Pros

I like how simple Slido is to use (one URL + one hashtag, or scan a QR code > instantly usable on any browser). I also like how many options it has (quite a few but not overwhelming) and the way it can help instantly visualise data. It can be a simple tool to receive questions but can also facilitate instant data analysis.

Cons

I think Slido gets it just right when it comes to usability. I would like to see some updates on the look and feel, and I think one or two more visualisation options would be welcome.

Anonymous Meeting Interaction

Reviewed 2 years ago

We use Slido in large all group meetings with executives. Normally after a presentation based on the state of the company or a project, we will bring Slido up and allow participants to ask questions. Sometimes those questions are painful or difficult and participants would be hesitant to ask those questions would it not be for Slido. Slido allows us to have open communication without the fear of retribution for bringing up the tough topics.

Pros

I like the technology integration and the ability to keep meeting attendees involved honest by allowing them to remain anonymous.

Cons

I wish that common questions or themes could be grouped together instead of being displayed individually.

Vendor response

Thank you for your response, we're glad you're finding Slido helpful during your meetings. Have you tried using Labels feature to group questions that have a common theme? It might not fit your use-case entirely but could be useful to an extent. This article might be help you - https://community.sli.do/audience-q-a-42/label-audience-questions-517 Additionally, there is a new feature that informs participants if they're typing a question that is similar to any that already exists. It's useful to avoid duplicate questions and you can turn it on in settings 'Slido Labs' tab. I hope these two features can improve the challenges you've faced in the past. If you need any more help or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@slido.com

Smooth, easy, flexible.

Reviewed 2 years ago

We are a church that utilizes the live Q&A feature regularly. It allows us to take questions in an orderly manner, and with COVID, being able to do this touchless was just another unexpected benefit. I can change settings on the fly on another device when in presenter mode. It's great.

Pros

It works, every time, just as it should. With inexpensive software, especially one that offers considerable function for free, I'm always impressed by the reliability. Support is also top notch, though you won't need it.

Cons

I honestly have no gripes with this software. It works perfectly for our needs, live Q&As.

Hello Chris. Thank you for sharing your experience with Slido and how it helps your church during the pandemic. We appreciate your support. Adam

Slido as a easy tool to make Learning and Internal events engaging

Reviewed 4 months ago

Slido has become an integral part of most of our internal events in company as well as learning and development activities. It makes them active, engaging, creates a open feedback culture and makes people remembering it.

Pros

Easy to use, integration in powerpoint slides, so it makes me much more comfortable during my speeches

Cons

creating a follow-up materials from powerpoint - I have to do all printscreens manually, I would prefer a option to generate ppt or pdf automatically after the event on one click.

Slido creates movement and motivation

Reviewed 2 years ago

Simply put: valuable and worthwhile using during sessions with (large or small) groups. p.s. I saw it used during a large (500 ppl) conference, and it was great.

Pros

Slido has been so easy to apply in group sessions. I apply a lot of software tools that are 'participant-facing' and Slido works best so far in my opinion. The present-button creates a lot of value. Various types of questions work well too. Slido just seem to understand what we need.

Cons

When I'm presenting, I'd love to see how many have logged in in real-time in the present-view. I might have missed that this is possible, but I didn't find it right away.

A fan

Reviewed 9 months ago

The use of Slido greatly improves my E-Learning engagements (mostly financial training in AsiaPacific).

Pros

* Powerpoint integration * Seemless access with phone * Slick functionality and presentation I use it for all my financial training engagements. And now my wife does the same as a Professor of Public Health.

Cons

Not much. A small thing perhaps. If I use the Powerpoint integration and I must exit presentation mode to refer to another slide, when I re-enter presentation mode, it brings me automatically to the top of the presentation, not the slide selected. I think I've found a workaround.

Vendor response

Hi Blaise, Thank you so much for the positive review. It's great to hear how Slido helped you with engagement during your trainings (and your wife too :).

Create an engaging event experience

A really great engagement tool for events to keep the attendees engaged using tools that they already have, their smart devices

Pros

The range of options available to create engagement opportunities with attendees, particularly, the quiz and the live poll functions allow you to judge the mood in the room without needing to pause the main presentation.

Cons

The clunkiness in moderating and managing user questions in the Question and answer area. Senior management also don't like the ability for users to submit anonymous questions

Keeping students on their toes

Reviewed 2 years ago

Online class is challenging not only for the teachers but also students. Interactions using Slido has increased engagement in class and students feel less lonely learning remotely from one another. Also good for shy students to participate in any discussions - using open text, rating or cloud text.

Pros

1. Seamlessly working on MS PowerPoint. 2. Easy and quick to set any interactions. 3. Going live is a matter of opening the slide - no activation from web version needed. 4. Participation through QR code is straightforward and hassle-free. 5. Students rare particularly more engaged in class (online) - especially with the Quiz interaction.

Cons

All interactions should have nickname option, not just Quiz. Not all participants embrace anonymity.

Slido for Teaching

Reviewed 2 months ago

Slido is a very good software to use for those who want their lectures to be interactive in an academic setting.

Pros

The software is very easy to use and integrates well with Google Slides and MS PowerPoint (for Windows users).

Cons

It lacks integration in MS PowerPoint for Mac users. I also hope it can have features that enable matching type, reordering, and drag and drop that can be used for interactive lectures.
