ArchiCAD: for BIM demands

2019-11-16

If you are doing any construction-related drawing, try ArchiCAD for a once for the perfect 3D outcome. It's priceworthy and highly recommended.

Pros

Can easily handle this software If we are familiar with AutoCAD because it's pretty similar UI like AutoCAD.

Cons

Need some RAM management improvement for this software.

Not quite for beginners to BIM

2018-06-01

As any beginner to any new program, once you take the time to learn and adapt to the program, this will be a very nice program to use for architects and interior designers, or anybody interested in learning and using a BIM program

Pros

-It has a very clear user interface -You do not need a plugin rendering machine, as this one is built into the program -Fantastic rendering tools -You can work on your project from start to finish ( 2D plans to 3D) -Lighting effects achieved are great -Great for both Mac and Windows -Good customer service -Easy to use once you have taken the time to learn it

Cons

-Not for a beginner to BIM - much dedication needed to learn the program -A little on the pricey side -Layer management is not so good -Not much of a selection of blocks -Settings are not that straight forward - you can spend hours trying to figure it out

One of the most common used, but not the best on my opinion.

2018-02-26

The most beneficial thing could be the ability to manage layers.

Pros

You would also, learn how to be organized with layer management.

Cons

The compatibility with 3D model formats (the most known like 3DS, FBX, and OBJ don't really work great, as some of the textures may be missing during the export-import process.

Powerful, easily customizable CAD software for your design + construction projects

2018-03-14

Popular in Europe, ArchiCAD is the only BIM software I use in my design practice.

Pros

Design in 2 and 3 dimensions simultaneously. Import and export projects with AutoCad, etc.

Cons

Not as popular as AutoCAD, fewer free and for fee objects available. Deep knowledge is required to unlock all of ArchiCAD’s powerful features.

Ease my daily works

2019-02-09

We shall upgrade so users can do all their jobs in the same software.

Pros

You have access to all the architectutal tools to design a beautiful residential or commercial building.

Cons

The software is limited to Architetural tools only. It will be nice if on one software, Architects and Engineers could work together.

Great Design Software Easy to use!!!

2018-03-27

This software is so delightful! Actually, this software is my first option on BIM world. The render engine quality is amazing and very likely and customizable

Pros

Design in 2 and 3 dimensions simultaneously. Import and export projects with AutoCad, etc.

Cons

Not intuitive enough for quick design experimentation (a la Sketchup).

A solid CADD software program that is great for SMB

2018-06-07

Overall, we're very happy with ArchiCAD and would recommend this to any SMB focusing on small to medium sized commercial or residential projects.

Pros

We starting using ArchiCAD to compare the feature set to other CADD software packages on the market.

Cons

Exporting to other drafting programs has some interesting quirks, though this could just as easily be blamed on the other programs.

I have solved 3D modelling problems that I had with another software, faster and better

2018-04-21

It allows me to do changes, revisions and modify many things with few clicks.

Pros

One of the best things on it, it's the fluency on the model management and the views, the control on every level of the model, the customizability on the menus.

Cons

Actually i have minimum dislikes, the only thing I'd recommend to the developers of ArchiCAD would be that the document generator could be more friendly, like other drawing CAD applications, that would make more easier the process of finishing the tasks.

The biggest draw back in compatibility with other drafting programs

2018-04-12

This can be a challenge for other firms when importing files into their preferred CAD programs.

Pros

ArchiCAD is a good alternative to pricier CAD programs, and it has a user friendly interface that any draftsperson would quickly adapt to.

Cons

It's not as feature filled as other CAD programs which, while that can be a blessing, does provide some challenges when working between programs and/or exporting files for other firms to use.

One of the best tools for BIM implementation

2019-04-16

As an Architect, I have been able to use ArchiCAD for conceptual designs, detailed drafting, interior layouts as well as generating high-quality elevations, sections and 3D views for all my projects, including presentation drawings.

Pros

As an Architect, I feel that it is a great tool that can be used to estimate the energy requirements of a building.

Cons

It does tend to slow down the system a bit especially when you are opening a data-rich file.

with little time of use I opt for a pleasant experience to enter the BIM world

2018-06-15

I use it as a substitute for revit architecture to perform some jobs that require BIM

Pros

is a software that allows you to carry out projects with the BIM method in an agile way with an acceptable interface

Cons

I have been using it for a short time and the experience, although positive, has its cons, being a bit rigid software and not very flexible in some commands, I had problems adapting quickly to its use

Ideal for buildings

2018-08-30

It is used to add construction data, through the software you can see the development of the work.

Pros

ArchiCAD is a good tool for those companies that are developing architecture projects. The reason is because it allows specific designs and the development of the work, from the beginning to the end.

Cons

You have to add personalized data, so only reliable users should enter.

Archicad a good way to create architecture

2021-07-21

In general this is a very good software, that i have used it for about 1 year, it took me about 2 months to learn it and i currently use it every day, however as it is not a widely used software, i had to learn revit to some jobs.

Pros

Archicad is a software in which you can solve an entire project, from views to render, it has a intuitive and friendly interface that is easier to learn than similar softwares like Revit.

Cons

It is a BIM software so it is difficult to learn compared to programs like sketch up, autocad or Rhinoceros, but you can take courses that help you to learn, in addition some tools like photo rendering is a bit sketchy and you can't get high-quality images.

Not my favorite for every day use, but it does its job pretty well

2018-10-10

Not my top choice for a CAD software, but it is a fine option and is cheaper than my top choice.

Pros

IFC support is good as you can export and import to many other CAD softwares.

Cons

The learning curve is steep, and some of the program seems a little outdated. The fact that you cannot have multiple viewports was very frustrating to me.

Blows other drafting programs out of the water

2018-04-16

I was skeptical about ArchiCAD at first, however for the minimal amount of drafting I do, this is great!

Pros

And due to recent changes in the AutoCAD pricing structure, ArchiCAD looks like it may be the go-to drafting program for designers.

Cons

It's not as feature filled as other drafting programs, however given the change in perpetual licensing for competitive software, the value for money of ArchiCAD can't be beat.

2018-06-05

Pros

ArchiCAD has many great qualities, like their great customer service and mobile access capabilities.

Cons

At first, we were worried about the length and administration of software training. However, the program scales up incredibly well for all company sizes , making training a breeze.
