Pros

All of my experiences with Building Connected have been nothing but pleasant. Their staff is friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable.
Top notch product with excellent customer support that improves our ability to win work.
It is the best "software" on the market. With the integration into the whole Autodesk family, BuildingConnected is definitely the best "bang for your buck.

Pros

From the first invitation issued, we have received great bid response, which means winning more jobs, which is the goal. The cost is very competitive.
Since our free trial and now being in a contract, I feel this was a great decision to use this program. Sensitive content hidden] has been very quick and helpful with all of our concerns.
On those occasions when we needed help with an issue, Pipeline's customer support was very responsive in getting the issue resolved.

Cons

This should be for ALL cases where one needs to type information. There is too many BAD EMAIL ADDRESSES identified in the database that NEVER get corrected.
I dislike that you have to use the software to obtain quotes.
No mobile device support, and trying to get subcontractors to all submit on the platform has proved difficult.

Cons

They say they have had negative experiences with other such websites.
I can't think of any drawbacks other than the price, not that the price is bad but, whou wouldn't want to pay less.
Our divisions are labeled from the last format, and haven't been updated to the master format, and that isn't the software companies fault it is my companies fault.

Building Connected is the best bid management software out there.

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

I really like the way that it is designed, it is easy to see what project you are looking at, the description and easy to accept the bid and also very easy to see what you have submitted and what you have not. It shows a list of all GC's that you are bidding with and it is easy to keep everything organized.

Cons

Honestly I prefer Building Connected to other bid management software platforms, there are never any errors with downloading bid packages and everything downloads rather quickly.

Very Good Bid Invitation/Management System

Reviewed 4 years ago

Easy to manage the bid invitations and entire bid process.

Pros

Getting bid invitations out to the sub market is extremely easy through this software. Also, sending messages/communication out is great.

Cons

I don't really have any serious cons but after using this for over a couple years there are some items that could be improved to make it go from very good to great. (Make it easy to make changes to subcontractor contacts on the fly, providing more options for reports, better customer service platform, etc.)

Building Connected has increased our business

We started using BC in 2018 and more than doubled our revenue the following year. Add BC was a large contributor to that success.

Pros

Easiest and best way we have found to send and track bid invitations to a targeted recipient.

There are no enough key work options in the bid package to cover all of the bid I need.

Love this program!

Reviewed 6 years ago

If your looking for Construction Software call these guys and take it for a test drive, you wont be sorry and your subcontractors will love it.

Pros

Building Connected is the best software out there for me getting my bid invites and access to plans and specs. It so easy to use and everything you need a click away. Contractors that are using this software can send bid invites and access to the plans right to my account. I'm using their Opportunity Manager also, I just forward my bid invites from Contractors who are not using Building Connected to this program and it puts it in order by bid date automatically , much better than me trying to organize my outlook. Another thing about this software when you download plans its way faster than it competition.

Cons

Once in awhile I will have to go in and manually put in the bid date on certain bid invites that I have forwarded to the Opportunity Manager.

Streamlined & Simple

Reviewed 5 years ago

We've eliminated a substantial amount of the risk in our bid process by having current information available to all team members. It helps us get info out to subcontracts 3 or 4 days faster than we could with our previous process.

Pros

Great for when we have bid teams of 4 or 5 people and having an instant snapshot of where our bid process stands. We have committed to doing detailed bid forms that subs have gotten used to for submitting their proposal and using the breakdown provided. This helps us zero in on the right conversations we should be having with the right subs and makes us more effective during the bid.

Cons

Our people rely too much on communicating through BC and it reduces the amount of phone conversations where we believe we learn a substantial amount more that a line item on the bid form.

Keeps you Organized

Reviewed 8 years ago

I've been using BC for a little over a month. I am a Project Coordinator for a TI company, and my Project Manager uses it as well. It makes it easy to access subcontractor bids and keep everything organized in one place. Communication is great through their messenger tab-- I like that you can email everyone in the project, a certain trade, or people who have yet to submit a bid. One thing that I wish was a part of the basic version is syncing your job walks to your calendar. We are taking the extra step to send out job walk invites and then add them to our Outlook calendar.

Pros

-Ease of Use -Organization -Printable Reports -Messaging tool -Customer service/help team is very responsive

Cons

-Does not sync job walks/bid due dates onto Calendar

Bid Management

Reviewed 4 years ago

Time saving and reduction on number of emails to bid coordinator.

Pros

The bid management software is very easy to use across multiple users and makes it easy to assign jobs and have multiple viewers of documents and quotes while still assigning the project to one person. This has cut down on the emails cluttering my inbox and if very effective and time-saving.

Cons

I think some of the data capturing and statistics functions need to be improved, at least we have not found reports that are as useful to us in the construction business where we don't always hear results on our bids right away.

Team members can decide on what to bid without meeting at the same time.

Pros

The organization of the bid list by due date is great. It's important sometimes to search an archived project. Huge time saver having a dedicated email auto populating the bid list and auto populating some of the project information. The bid form notification of being read is great to have reassurance that the proposal was received. The comment section is great for notes to other team members.

Cons

The planhub invites not auto populating client information is frustrating. The split screen on the bid board is useful or needed, split screen with limited views of both screens. One screen with all the info would be more useful. When you need more info you open the project. The right hand screen is not used.

Possibly the best Bid Invitation Software available.

Reviewed 4 years ago

We wanted a bid invitation solution that our subcontractors liked, were familiar with, and we wanted a long term partner. So far the relationship with BC has been great. I wish the pricing was a little lower and more comparable to other softwares out there as that would allow me to not have to review other competitor products upon renewal.

Pros

The user-friendly interface allows us to issue bid invitations in a matter of minutes.

Cons

I dislike that you have to use the software to obtain quotes. I wish direct emails were possible without having to go through the web.

The most helpful part is this can help me to search for new bidders to bid specify trades that i am not familiar.

Building Connected Review

Reviewed 5 years ago

I've been using building connected for two years and its been great. It is very easy to use not only for the estimating team but also for our subcontractors. If the project if awarded to our company we then invite the project management team to the project. They download all the bid forms submitted to an excel document that is later used during scoping meetings.

Pros

Easy to use Communication with subcontractors is very easy Can add notes Very easy to upload bid forms and scope description Easy to see who has submitted bids and identify low bidder immediately Easy to download bid form for additional scoping

Cons

One of the things I like the least about the software is that when we have to send bid invites to only specific subcontractors we have to go through the entire list and uncheck the ones we don't want to invite. This can be a little time consuming when we have to delete 20 or more subcontractors from our work package. The only other thing that could be improved is better identification of union vs non-union subcontractors.

Overall i have a great experience with BuildingConnected. Definitely makes the bidding process a whole lot easier.

Pros

One thing i don't like is that i cant copy cells in the bid form and replicate them easily. You have to copy the verbiage and then create another line and then paste. Wish you could just copy multiple cells at once and be able to transfer them between scopes.

Cons

As of right now there isn't much bad things to say about this program.
