Pros

The ease of use. How easy it is to upload a plan to doing a takeoff within a minute or less.

Cons

None that I can think of at the time.Everything so far has been great.

Vendor response

Thanks so much for your kind review Chad!

Great Invention

Reviewed 4 years ago

Yes very good and worthwhile. Love the ease of use,and then all is recorded so you can go back and check.

Pros

How quick and user friendly it is. The way the counts then load onto each drg. Great for saving time.

Cons

Just at start when you have to type in each variant. As I’m more sure guy,it’s very tedious.

Quick and easy!

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

Its very simple to understand with lots of pointers and tips to get you doing. It is also very easy to use and packed with keyboard short cuts to help you find you way around.

Cons

It requires the use of a dropbox which might not always be practical in companies which have limited internet browsing.

Vendor response

Thanks Joseph! In addition to Dropbox, Countfire actually supports OneDrive now too.

Excellent product !

Reviewed 4 years ago

A great product, Once you start using the keyboard shortcuts and understand how to put the price together to suit your own cost sheet it really makes life easy.

Pros

Very quick and easy to upload drawings, the scale feature for measuring lengths of runs is very accurate, no more scale rule and no more wasting paper printing drawings. Once a floor has been set up the way it automatically applies this to other drawings is brilliant.

Cons

Not being able to make notes on a page, symbols could be used as a basic key for Design and Build projects

Countfire

Reviewed a year ago

Very good experience so far with a lot of support. Quite expensive cost wise.

Pros

Easy to use for take offs and counts same symbols over multiple drawings in one go.

Cons

Symbol recognition doesn't work properly sometimes.

Vendor response

Thanks for the review Rytis. Great that you're finding Countfire easy to use. Sometimes when the drawings are created the symbols can look the same but have been drawn slightly differently – Countfire doesn't automatically include slightly different symbols when you make your selection to aid the accuracy of your takeoff. All you need to do is make an additional selection of the different symbol and Countfire will automatically search for matches across all of your drawings for that selection too.

Cons

First Impressions

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

Once the scale is set, the software allows measurement of the pipework to be methodically taken off and checked as a whole. Different areas can be selected which will be outputted as separate measures for breakdown input. Best of all, the system collates the take off read for input

Cons

At present, the only issue i have is when an addendum comes in the why of doing adds and omits appears to be lengthy. But more training may rectify this issue

Very Impressed

Reviewed 4 years ago

Really speeds up the estimating process and gives a very precise breakdown compared to other tools I have used

Pros

Ease of use is excellent. Most aspects of the tool can be picked up with no prior experience using this. The zoning of the drawings is invaluable in terms of quantifying devices per distribution board

Cons

One feature which would be good would be the exporting of the drawings including the zones created during the process

Great Software!

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

- easy to use - when counting all references on one drawing it will automatically pick them out in the other drawings you have under the same project

Cons

- although I don't mind you having access to my screen and its great that if I ask you for help you are able to show me a video tutorial using my projects. However we as a company like to ensure our projects are safe and that project information isn't being shared with other companies.

Extremely Happy with this software

Reviewed 6 years ago

We are extremely happy with our overall experience using Countfire. The customer service has been amazing and we receive lots of support when needed. The time saved using this software has made a great impact on our company.

Pros

This software is very user friendly and time saving! With efficient ways of checking the marked up drawing, we have been able to reduce the amount of mistakes, and therefore costs to the company. If any issues occur when using the software, you can use the help section on the software and request help from a member of the Countfire Team, who reply back extremely quickly!

Cons

Almost all of my experiences with this software is positive. However, after the initial training, it does take a couple of times to fully familiarize yourself with all parts of the software.

Game Changing Takeoff Software

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

Countfire has saved me so much time with takeoffs. It makes counting a breeze which allows me more time to bid more projects.

Cons

Counting isn't perfect. Sometimes there are technical issues where the software is working properly but it can't tell the difference between fixture types. Needs and I can't emphasize this enough, needs and undo button.

When it works it's a real time saver, but holy cow it's very expensive

Reviewed 3 years ago

I found the customer support was second to none, there is a little chat box in the corner when you are doing take offs and if you are having any issues then you can talk on here and in my experience you get help normally within half an hour. The first 2 drawings that were quite big the auto count feature didn't work and so I had to count manually and I had software already a lot cheaper that I could do that with. When i had a drawing that worked, it worked well and saved a lot of time. But honestly the cost of this software you'd have to do a heck of a lot of estimating with drawings that work to make up for the huge cost.

Pros

The auto count feature when it works does save a lot of time. The customer support and training is excellent.

Cons

The cost is way too much. not all drawings work with the auto count feature.

Great communication.

Pros

The customer support is really excellent and cuts time spent learning to use of the software dramatically. The guys behind Countfire respond to even the simplest query immediately and take the initiative to get in touch and show how to do things in better or faster ways.

Cons

Like any software Countfire takes some getting used to.

Lume Electrical Solutions Review

Time Saving

Pros

Features seem easy to use. We like the way it downloads onto a excel spreadsheet. I t is then easy to send to suppliers for pricing.

Cons

I think just picking up the correct process on how to take off drawings is the hardest thing. Once this is in place I believe the program is very user friendly.

When everything is peachy it works great and is fast.

Pros

When a pdf is is drawn properly it works great. Automatic counting etc. No I'm just trying to reach 100 characters

Cons

When a pdf is not drawn properly, i may as well count manually. Which is mostly the case. Simple things could be added to improve experience, such as a plan multiplier for drawings that cover multiple levels.

Novice to electronic take-offs

Reviewed 4 years ago

My overall experience with Dropbox has been very pleasant. The team is great at holding your hand and making sure that you understand the software. I love that they even do screen recording so that you can reference later.

Pros

The upload feature as well as the symbol capturing.

Cons

I would prefer if it did not have to be processed through Dropbox as not everyone has it.

Countfire is very easy to use. It saves a lot of time compared to manual counting. The output is presented in a very nice way with quick checks for correctness.
