For many years that I did use act I really enjoyed it was a great tool getting used to working with it was very easy for me. we did a lot of customization to the dashboard added some imagery additional fields it was really awesome.

Pros

I really liked the contact management history management email integration and tracking grouping of contacts opportunity groups add opportunity ratings.

Cons

Act is a really great entry level CRM it has some functionality's third party capabilities other products you can purchase from the store but it just doesn't have what it takes to get you over the hill when you get a little bit larger

We are happy to upgrade to ACT CRM for their cloud based services, for Act's collection as well as consolidation of our sales data for marketing use and for new business acquisition .

Pros

We loved Act's flexibility and ease of use as each of our team members were able to use Act with their mobile devices and phones.

Cons

We have found Act to be a solid and multi faceted CRM. However , we would love more tutorials on importing contacts for business use and referral.

- great investment for the features you DO get - ability to assign roles to users - customizable to company

Cons

- not able to assign a lead (to a sales person in a given territory) - problems tracking pipeline figures - not "pretty" reporting, needs a facelift - can't track phone calls/emails from mobile device (where a lot of outside sales occur)

Simple, streamlined CRM to help you keep on track of your leads

Happy users, efficient and easy access to customer/lead data

Pros

This is very easy to use, simple yet powerful CRM. End users are very happy with the functionality and has been much easier for management to get staff engaged vs similar products we've tried in the past.

Cons

From an IT administration standpoint, can be a little clunky deploying on multiple machines. Having said that, once installed it's pretty much maintenance free and requires very little hand holding.

There is ample customization options for adding custom fields and the interface layout.

Cons

Updates or upgrades require a lot of "work around" effort uninstalling, reinstalling, removing, re-configuring, etc. There are too many steps involved each time something changes from a software update mode.

We have been frustrated over the years by the number of crashes and freezes.Occasionally an import will not import correctly and the data in put into the wrong fields.

Pros

We have added many custom fields that allows us to track a lot of data really dig into for trends and statistics. We love how history is captured a for all the activity we do for and with a client.

Cons

When sending out an eblast, it pulls from the email field. If there is more than one email address followed by a semicolon, it won't send to both.

Used it as the Sales Team in a MIcrosoft Consulting company to keep in touch with our prospects / leads.

Pros

It was highly customizable, and the import/export processes were intuitive and worked flawlessly.

Cons

However, we last used the software 2 years ago so it might not have been the most current version. Interface was cometically so so but worked well.

I have used ACT for about 18 years, and have upgraded many times. 1st with a luxury Log Home manufacturing and sales company, and the past 10 years with a multi brand NEW car dealership's sales department.

Pros

Best of all, it is easy to order information by any field to customize and narrow down reports to identify age and products purchased, location ect.

Cons

The software versions come out too often and require updates of other Office Suite products to maintain compatibility.

not my first option when it comes to CRMs, it may fall short when the business requires integration of Lead campaigns with traditional sales blitz and also optimize/automate internal sales process and flow.

Pros

Integration with MS Office, flexibility and scalability based on the size of the business and need of the organization, desktop version in addition to the web-based version (thus allowing flexibility for the organization), API availability.

Cons

price is in the premium range, mostly driven for sales and contact management but falls short when it comes to process automation and customer service options.

Recommendations to others considering Act!

The reason you need a CRM is for building a loyal tribe of customers. Collecting contact information is only valuable if it can be used to connect with your potential and actual customers. Find a CRM system that truly allows you to utilize marketing software to build a relationship with the customers of your various market niches. Also, to do successful marketing campaigns, you need to track your contacts responses with metrics. ACT! has very little capability to do this effectively. Choose another CRM system; one with stability; flexibility; compatibility with email and marketing programs; and local, responsive customer service.

Quickbooks integration could still be better though, but cooridnating with third party vendors will always be a challenge.

Pros

Even in a small business, hosting the database on a consumer grade PC and operating system still provides a functional and fast connection.

Cons

The time it takes to create a large offline database seems way to slow.

My database currently numbers over 60,000 contacts.

Cons

It works well as a contact manager and can help track email conversions through an Outlook plugin.
