I have used ACT for about 18 years, and have upgraded many times. 1st with a luxury Log Home manufacturing and sales company, and the past 10 years with a multi brand NEW car dealership's sales department.

Pros

It is customizable, integrates with Outlook, provides reminders, accepts notes, and the backup is secure.

Cons

The software versions come out too often and require updates of other Office Suite products to maintain compatibility.

We have been frustrated over the years by the number of crashes and freezes.Occasionally an import will not import correctly and the data in put into the wrong fields.

Pros

We have added many custom fields that allows us to track a lot of data really dig into for trends and statistics. We love how history is captured a for all the activity we do for and with a client.

Cons

When sending out an eblast, it pulls from the email field. If there is more than one email address followed by a semicolon, it won't send to both.

1st CRM Software I became familiar with, still pretty solid.

Used it as the Sales Team in a MIcrosoft Consulting company to keep in touch with our prospects / leads.

Pros

It was highly customizable, and the import/export processes were intuitive and worked flawlessly.

Cons

However, we last used the software 2 years ago so it might not have been the most current version. Interface was cometically so so but worked well.

This does contact info management very well (You can easily save any data you desire from your client and even create custom fields and control how they behave)

Cons

In a day in age that we need to be able to seamlessly integrate with our website and go from gaining data to placing new client on an evergreen sequence, this simply does not do it well.

Mainly quick connection with my clients and more importantly, instant recording of all activities.

Pros

The fact that it integrates with other calendar and email programs.

Cons

The only con would be a past SQL glitch that had to be repaired several time. I got to the place I could do it myself.

Act! is a flexible tool to track data the way you want to see it.

Act allows us to manage a vast database of over 85,000 contacts and 15,000 companies, as well as over 100,000 Table records between the two, with ease.

Pros

Everything in a Contact or Company record's layout can be customized, moved around, hidden on a per-user basis, and otherwise manipulated however your organization needs it to be.

Cons

For example, the software comes with the ability to create and Mail Merge templated emails that imports information like a contact's name, and the Smart Tasks feature allows you to automatically perform certain tasks including sending an email to a contact, yet for some reason you can't do both - that is, you can't set a Smart Task to perform a Mail Merge to a templated email and send the result, meaning that the automated emails cannot contain information personal to the contact such as their name.

Quickbooks integration could still be better though, but cooridnating with third party vendors will always be a challenge.

Pros

Even in a small business, hosting the database on a consumer grade PC and operating system still provides a functional and fast connection.

I love the programs ability to set reminders, the email interface and notes I can keep on each and every conversation.

not my first option when it comes to CRMs, it may fall short when the business requires integration of Lead campaigns with traditional sales blitz and also optimize/automate internal sales process and flow.

Pros

Integration with MS Office, flexibility and scalability based on the size of the business and need of the organization, desktop version in addition to the web-based version (thus allowing flexibility for the organization), API availability.

Cons

price is in the premium range, mostly driven for sales and contact management but falls short when it comes to process automation and customer service options.

Happy users, efficient and easy access to customer/lead data

Pros

End users are very happy with the functionality and has been much easier for management to get staff engaged vs similar products we've tried in the past. The UI is clean and simple, data entry is fast and the inbuilt reports are intuitive.

Cons

From an IT administration standpoint, can be a little clunky deploying on multiple machines. Having said that, once installed it's pretty much maintenance free and requires very little hand holding.

The software is not going to be effective by itself, it needs the people operating it to utilize it effectively.

The platform experienced a problem that does not allow emails, in Outlook, to be linked with contacts. Customer service has been saying that they are waiting for their development group to solve the problem.
