Full disclosure - my studio does not use MindBody. That being said, I have been on the customer-end of this software (I've been a client of studios that use MindBody). It seems like most respectable studios in NYC use MindBody. We seriously considered using it, but found some serious limitations. For one, the interface is rather clunky - it really takes some getting used to for customers. It's also quite expensive if you are a small studio. Chances are, you probably end up having to schedule an assistant anyway, who can easily take requests for classes the same that MindBody can. For larger studios, though, I feel like at some point MindBody becomes a necessity so no other software out there quite has its features.

The only software I need to run my business professionally, which takes care of my clients.

Pros
The easy of use and the customer support. I use online chat all the time, and it's great knowing that instead of fumbling around and trying to figure out what to do, I have someone who can walk and talk me through every concern, so that my clients get professional service each time.

Cons
As a start up small family business, we struggle with the cost of this. And the accelerated software is a huge cost which we cannot afford, but I wish there was some sort of packaging that makes it a bit cheaper.

Individuals can pick and choose based on availability, and has social media integration capabilities. pricing options are very affordable. 24/7 support.

Cons
Hardware bundles can be expensive (not required, but almost essential.) Only the ultimate package offers the custom mobile app.

Never had any issues; wish I still had it.

Pros
I have many clients who buy different class options - from single drop in classes to monthly, even yearly packages. Mindbody keeps track of all of it and lets you know how much a client has left with each sign in/usage; it even sends notices - based on your choice of a week, two weeks before, etc. - to the client to let them know when their package will expire.

Cons
I could no longer afford the price increase.

Overall we have been satisfied with this software, otherwise we wouldn't have stuck with it for this long. There are other, cheaper scheduling software programs out there that do the same bang for your buck, but we advise people to compare when shopping first. This can be a bit pricy especially if you don't use all of the bells and whistles.

Pros
My company has been using this software for over 5 years and I don't think that we have even scratched the surface of all of the features that it can do. We have been satisfied with it's easy use.

Cons
Because it is such an extensive software, the price can be rather high. Especially for small businesses. To top it off, they keep raising the prices every couple of months, but we don't see any new features or improvements to justify the price hike.

We used mindbody for years before switching to a less expensive and equally Efficient system.

Pros
Easy to use and recognizable. Built in adds sometime draw people to your business when they are searching for services and locations.

Cons
Cost- way overpriced and necessary features cost extra. We strive to keep overhead low so we can offer the best services at the lowest cost and companies like mind body make that difficult to achieve.

I have looked at a few different system in the past and decided to give this one a go due to it's integration with a Direct Debit provider in the UK. The two systems didn't integrate very well and whenever there was a problem both companies used to blame each other. The direct debits was supposed to come on on one of two specific days (like they did with my previous DD provider) but they often took the money out up to two weeks late. Many times MindBody support said they would get back to me with solutions to problems and never did.The system is very large and over complicate but yet does not do everything you need for use in a martial arts centre. They were unresponsive over suggestions for improvement and i generally felt like i may as well not bother. In the end i decided to go to a different solution that has worked out so much better (and cheaper). Like i said before, this solution may work for a large chain of fitness centres but i was a poor choice for martial arts centres.

Pros
- Comprehensive set of features - Reasonably price for the main programme - Only a rolling monthly contract

Cons
- Poor customer service - Didn't do the job i was led to believe it would - One choice of DD provider in the UK and they were very poor (though they were cheaper than my previous provider) - Over complicated processes to do simple things - Put the price up just after i signed up - Don't have the basic features needed for martial arts centres

Stay away from this company. They will offer you a lucrative offer pricing and then they will change the features, taking away the basic features and then force you to go to higher price and if you don’t agree the system will no longer work for you.

Software is decent but the management team is terrible. Business Philosophy is to get customers at low price and then keep charging them more.

Extremely disappointed about having to change software after being with MINDBODY for nearly 10 years but just couldn’t afford the whopping 71% price increase in my monthly subscription fee. Even more disappointed with the hard line attitude of ‘if you don’t like it then you’re free to leave’. Don’t know what’s happened to the company ethos but it’s a shame there is no longer any interest in taking care of the ‘little people’ who were part of the rise to success journey for so long. Highly recommend this product IF you can afford it.

Fantastic product which just works. Really well designed and highly intuitive. Good technical support.

Cons
Now ridiculously expensive so no longer affordable for small businesses (even after nearly 10 years of loyalty).

We primarily use it for client bookings, management and payment processing. Customer service is good when you can get through! The waits have gotten MUCH longer over the years!

Pros
I find that now that I have used Mindbody for 8 years, it has become quite user-friendly for daily use. Clients love it, and they love the free app! It really makes it easy for clients to book clients and appointments. I do love all of the detailed reporting features too.

Cons
Ugh...the price. I’m Canadian, and it works out to $330 a month. When I first started, it was $90! But....my credit card processing rates are cheaper than with other companies so really it works out overall...I guess!

I've been using Mindbody since 2007 as my main point of sale and scheduling software at our Pilates studios. Over the years they were slow to listen to their communities desires but did a good job at managing the massive growth they had. The price increases were steady yet tolerable over the years until recently... They ignored the communities desires for retention tools and launched an entirely new product to do something similar but it came with a hefty price tag. Mindbody then purchased the 3rd party app creators and blocked others from competing. Now they are raising the prices considerably AGAIN. No matter how good a product might be, you can't push your customer's wallets continuously without offering more value in return.

The software works well and the customer services are always top quality.

Can not get anyone on the phone ever, raise prices without warning, awful clunky software. What started out as a hippie dip pie cool little company has turned into a nasty big corporation with zero heart

What happened to this company??

Pros
I know the product fairly well. While a little less intuitive than they pretend to be, the software is pretty decent when you get the hang of it. DO NOT expect lightning speed, cheap payment processing or an abundance of features though.

Cons
They increased their rates by over 100% while totally stripping functionality. To make matters worse, they refuse to offer trial period of premium services so we know what we are getting before we bite the bullet. We are talking a huge difference in price - nearly 300% to get same features I had just 2 months ago.

Having been a loyal customers for 3 years, and having accepted without complaining the numerous price increases, I feel cheated.

Pros
It was a robust software until they decided to cancel all the great features in my package.

Cons
Consistent price increase without additional features or software upgrades. This time, with a two months notice, they announced that if you wanted to keep the same features as before, you had to pay more- which I refused. So I stayed with a monthly package and lost most features which made me choose Mindbody from the first place. The functionalities now are those of a very basic online booking software, and for the price I'm paying, I'd rather look for cheaper alternatives. It took me 3 months to set up the software, what a waist of time.

Perhaps for another industry, other than the salon/spa environment I am in, it would be perfect. I liked the ease of use, I no longer had to worry about double booking or a lost manual schedule. My clients were able to book online which was a fantastic feature. I just can't get over the price! Outrageous, considering there are other equivalent options out there for my area.

Plus, I think the merchant fees are too expensive, as well. I feel I could make so much more money without MBO
