Pros

The VPN feature is amazing i use it with usb redirector and it works great i can control the computer and the usb eith the vpn and usb director yogether i love that feature.
It helps on easy to use interface with a powerful remote features. Its fast and easy to navigate through the interface with a quick support to desktop, which is amazing.
The easy to use application is so simple to learn and navigate. The ability to tackle projects even when your not physically at the office is fantastic.

Pros

Connectwise automate is by far the best RMM tool on the market, It allows you to create a ton of custom monitoring alerts and the wizard makes it super easy to accomplish.
It was really good when I first started using the product and it's even better now. The native integration of ScreenConnect makes life for our engineers so much better.
I really like the features that Connectwise Automate offers. The ability to remotely patch servers and endpoint devices is excellent.

Cons

Occasionally there are errors, we get bumped from a server, or we have to restart a machine locally to re-connect -- but those issues are few & fear between. This is an issue maybe ~2% of the time.
I tried to cancel last year just be told it was done incorrectly (wasn’t processed by them) not that they admitted this. I was forced to pay a credit agency with the threat of penalties.
Sometimes it gets a little unstable, but I think the problem is more on the internet than on the program itself.

Cons

Stay away from this product. You will always need technical support, but the support is very very poor.
In order to get the full power you really need to dedicate the time and resources to add what you want to it. Reporting is abhorant and got even worse with the new reporting engine.
I then send a formal letter to cancel service and they say we won't except this. I have now asked twice to move to 25 agents and again the same thing is happening.

TeamViewer Remote

Great screen sharing software, but not the best.

Reviewed 6 years ago

We eventually moved to ConnectWise Control as we didn't like the price of TeamViewer.

Pros

For the price of free, Teamviewer for personal use is pretty great. It is very compatible with a lot of different OSes and works great on them. The UI is modern and looks great.

Cons

Account security could be better. My account was compromised in 2016 and TeamViewer made it sound like my password was weak and was cracked (it was a complex, long password). Additionally I do not feel comfortable leaving it running all the time on any machines.

They won't let you cancel

Reviewed 5 months ago

We use ConnectWise for most cluents and Dualmon for those looking for easy and very affordable. We don't have problems with these platforms. I don't know how hard it is to cancel yet but I'm sure you will hear able it if and when it do.

Pros

Not much. It exists? It works sometimes.

Cons

I have used way better, cheaper options that were easy to cancel. They charge us $600 a year for 20 computers and it's hard to cancel, then when you do, it's, I'm sorry, we can't cancel you, but here's a discount on something you don't use because it's inferior. It feels like a hostage negotiation.

Great remote control system

Reviewed 6 years ago

Other systems like Automate will allow much more back end features, but teamviewer is still great for remote control and one time sessions

Pros

Great system for quick remote sessions to be able to see another computer. Good features to be able to bring over files and very responsive. Great that it will reconnect automatically after reboots as well

Cons

There are more advanced management systems out there but as far as straight up remote control, this is still one of the best.

Good if you have an experienced person managing it

Reviewed 5 years ago

I would recommend this software to somebody who is very literate with computers. It is great for automating tasks but hard to learn.

Pros

The software allows you to take control over a computer remotely and it lets you manage all kinds of tasks and even send self-executing files to automate certain tasks.

Cons

The software has a very high learning curve. It is not user-friendly and takes a long time to learn.

TeamViewer Review

Reviewed 2 years ago

We strive in our business to automate software and require TeamViewer for our support company developers to connect and do various upgrades. Having software that is widely used it is often the software of choice for remote connections.

Pros

Developers have access to take control and support software. They can easily transfer fairly large files with ease

Cons

Can be blocked by Antivirus software. There have been times when there was "version clashes" where developers could not connect as their version was not compatible with ours, resulting in delays where they had to upgrade or downgrade.

The perfect tool for our customer support

Reviewed 3 years ago

Teamviewer has helped us automate support tasks. Before, if a customer had a problem, we had to call them on the phone and give them directions, which was extremely complicated, but with teamviewer it's simple and easy. I highly recommend this software.

Pros

This tool is fundamental for our company, we love that we can improve and personalize our agency's customer support, if a client has any problem with our services we connect remotely with teamviewer and help them live. It is very easy to use, the interface is intuitive. Excellent software.

Cons

It's hard to find something I don't like about this software, but the only drawback we've had is that the mobile version of teamviewer only allows us to view the screen of our client's device, it doesn't allow us to perform actions on the cell phone. For support issues in the mobile version it is complicated. But the desktop version works perfectly.

Great Product, difficult/unfair license model

Reviewed 4 years ago

I didn't want to renew as one client says that I'm not allowed to run it in their org. So I found an alternative ConnectWise Control. Has more features built-in w/out extra per month costs. Teamviewer on the other hand automatically renewed the yearly subscription... Even though I didn't want it. Granted I was less than 28 days to renewal and they wouldn't cancel. I then had my credit card decline the charges and within a few weeks I rec'd a letter from a credit agency w/ a fee tacked on. At that point it was easier to simply pay for it and cancel next year. Ridiculous.

Pros

It functions appropriately, primarily use it from one computer to connect to clients which is best.

Cons

The yearly commitment renewal with barely a weeks notice that you have to either cancel or renew. God forbid you're within the 28 day period before the end of your contract -- you'll be stuck paying for it for another year. The email has a link to create a Helpdesk ticket to cancel -- no way to change credit card info online, or simply go month to month.

Good tool to control remote servers

Reviewed 5 years ago

We use TeamViewer to work with remote server that's not situated in our office. You just need to turn it on and Teamviewer can do everything other for you to completely control Windows server and run apps we need.

Pros

- Very easy to use, it's very reliable even on slow internet connection - Supports Windows, Linux and Mac OS X - You can set up quick acssess to your remote computers, so after reboot you don't need to start up TeamViewer manually and it's ready to go completely automatic - Supports transferring files to your remote machine - Supports creating custom scenarios to automate processes on remote PCs

Cons

- You can't stream 3D apps - It's not cheap. But it's available for free for non-commercial use - It's not very convenient to send files to your remote PC, I would prefer to have virtual disk

ConnectWise Automate

Amazing automation with quick access to needed tools.

Reviewed 6 years ago

Great automation and multi-session remote control. Asset management and grouping is also very good.

Pros

The back-end automation of Connectwise Automate (previously Labtech) is the real power. Screen Connect allows you to view remote workstations and servers while still allowing the user to see the screen. Even better is that other Automate users can join the same session without kicking the first user out. (Great for training/escalations/etc). Asset discovery and grouping create powerful combinations that you can use to dial-in your clients' environments with ease.

Cons

Like any good automation tool, it does take a lot of time to get the solution dialed in for your needs. Don't expect it to work for you right out of the box. You will need to spend time with it honing it to your particular needs.

Beware of working with Conectwise Automate

Reviewed 4 years ago

Terrible. Your RMM tool is really important and you want a company that is trying to help your business grow by having great additions for the platform and services that you can then offer your clients and perspective clients. Connectwise has wanted to exact as many dollars out of my pocket and have no intention of having a business relationship what so ever. In my 24 years in the industry I have never had a company treat me this way but they did and continue to. I have heard from 30+ other companies ceo's saying similar things that there is not partnership just a money grab.

Pros

The remote program is really good. Very simple and quick when a caller has called in.

Cons

First year was good. At the beginning of the second year they doubled the cost saying "its in the contract" I said I want to cancel or fix the price and for a year we went around in circles. "ok we will do at the same price you just need to double your agents" I don't need more agents. Then I had a new person over and over. I then send a formal letter to cancel service and they say we won't except this. I have now asked twice to move to 25 agents and again the same thing is happening.

When it works, I think it's fine

Reviewed 4 years ago

It's like being a cook, but you're only allowed to use tin foil to hastily create all your cooking equipment, such as pans, spatulas, etc...

Pros

I like that when it works, some of its features like remote connectivity, accessing cmd without controlling the user's screen, and scripts make my job easier.

Cons

Once every other week I have to uninstall and reinstall the control center app to get it to load on my screen. I can log in, it will hang on "Building Searches" and disappear. The only fix I've been able to find is uninstall and reinstall, and I have to do that at least twice a month. The rest happen often despite multiple uninstall and reinstalls: Locks up in the middle of a job. Crashes in the middle of a job. Sometimes hitting control does nothing and I have to reboot to get it to work. Scripts also will work when they feel like working. 75% of my time, I have to use the online version because the desktop version is just way too buggy.

Unreliable

Reviewed a year ago

It was given as a remote tool and to show how many systems the outsourced IT group could charge us for, but totally unreliable as a tool.

Pros

It was included in the costs of outsourced IT

Cons

It hardly would connect and allow me to work with systems when it was most ciritical

ConnectWise Automate

Best remote manage tool

Reviewed 6 years ago

We reduce the amount of connections to the users devices interrupting their job. With this tool we can work in background and automate common fixes.

Pros

It's a great tool for remote management. You can get so so many information from their connected devices. Also the reports you can get from the dataviews are Excelent

Cons

The new interface version is slower than the previous one. Seems simpler but you spend more time trying to find the features and commands

Patch management, Machine access and ease of use

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Pushing out the remote agent is very simple and you have an executable for machines that are not connecting under group policy. Monitor your clients whole network from one location.

Cons

Every now and then you may come across an issue, calling into support you need to get past the level 1 tech and go right to the level 2 tech.

ConnectWise Automate

Packed with Features and Information

Reviewed 5 years ago

We use Connectwise Automate to get on top of client issues before reaching out so that we can have a better, more knowledgeable interaction with them. It's a very necessary tool in our organization.

Pros

There are tons of features in this software. It provides a console interface with verbose information that allows a tech to do quite a bit of troubleshooting before having to remote onto the computer. You're able to run commands from CMD, view mapped drives, view/add local user accounts, and more. What I also like is, after establishing a connection to the computer remotely, you can also close the console window without having to close the remote session window.

Cons

Some info in the console can be hard to find because there is just so much information. There are two features I feel are missing from the console though: 1. The ability to view and edit the registry from the console. 2. The ability to view the file system from the console.

The best in the market

Reviewed 5 years ago

Automates dashboard lists all of your PCs which have agents installed on them and you can do just about anything with it. You can tell everything from usernames that are logged in to what update just ran on the PC.

Pros

The best part you have the ability to get so much information without remoting into a users PC. You can even use a remote PCs command prompt and registry without remoting into them.

Cons

I wish their patch management could get a little more TYC. They have some issues there.

ConnectWise Automate

The most advanced MSP RMM to grow your business off of.

Reviewed 6 years ago

Exceptional insight into thousands of machines in an aggregate fashion. It would be impossible to offer some of the services that we do, without this product.

Pros

This product has a uniquely limitless capacity for growing the operational process of managing computer systems. Great out of the box monitors and functionality. Unparalleled remote control. Large user community and expansive plugin ecosystem.

Cons

QA is is lacking on new releases. Support takes a long time, with the exception of down situations. Slow release cycles. Lots of legacy functionality that is deprecated litters the product. Exceptionally slow at times.

Automate review

Reviewed 3 years ago

I've hung on, hoping things would improve. They've not so in effect gone backwards. I never feel like support are able to help over the basic break fix model.

Pros

The remote control product is quick and works. The desktop version still provides the best daily interface over the not finished web version. The extra data fields do provide us with easy to access information.

Cons

The product is slow and complicated. The new web version is just another overlay of the main product and database. This web version is not nearly complete, which has been worked on now for years. Most parts of the product are complicated to setup, when you go to the University of connectwise to find the information, often it is lacking.

ConnectWise Automate

Must have for MSP

Reviewed 4 years ago

Have been using it for years, love it.. Price is a bit steep for someone just starting out, but otherwise it offers alot of function, and ease of use once everything is setup and you know how to use it.

Pros

For a small to midsized MSP, connectwise makes a few must-have's. Connectwise Automate makes it easy to monitor, and perform tasks on remote systems, as well as offers a decent out of the box ticketing system, with end user ease.

Cons

Many Many options, Which is good, but a pain to setup and have working how you want it. Should have more out of box preset configs to get up and running quicker.

ConnectWise Automate

All-in-one suite of tools to support your fleet of machines

Reviewed 10 months ago

Out of the various Remote Monitoring and Management tools I have used this product seems to get most aspects of RMM tools right. And implementing it to your systems and to your clients can be mainly an easy experience.

Pros

ConnectWise Automate offers a lot of remote support and maintenance options for workstations without needing to interrupt the end-user experience but kicking them off for support. You can administer many tasks like Vulnerability Patching, silently deploying new software, checking the hardware details

Cons

The Desktop tool can be slow at times to load. Needing to clear the local cache to even load past the first splash screen.Navigating the ConnectWise portal to find the latest release to update Automate hasn't been the most seamless experience either.

ConnectWise Automate

Great For Ticketing and Monitoring

Reviewed a year ago

We have a great overall experience using ConnectWise Automate. It has helped us stay a leader in our industry and has made our MSP a better organization. We would highly recommend to any company looking to support remote clients effectively.

Pros

The ticketing with ConnectWise automate and reporting is accurate and helps make business decisions. We are able to keep track of all our issues and then address them with the same software. We like how easy it was to setup and has been a great tool for all of our technicians.

Cons

We did not like how the agents will fail to install certain applications even though they are working on other agents. It's hard to decipher the logs to trouble shoot issues and administrators take some time to learn the program. There is a need for more third party patching options.

ConnectWise Automate

Really powerful tool

Reviewed 6 years ago

We chose Automate over everything else for a reason; Price and functionality simply could not be beat.

Pros

- Mostly intuitive GUI - Packed with tons of functionality; Been using the product a little over 2 years now and still learning neat tricks/tools to use - Great asset management - Great at pushing remote commands - ConnectWise University offers tons of training on their products

Cons

- Because it is so powerful, there is a lot of training that needs reviewed to become proficient in working and navigating - Been experiencing an issue where I need to re-launch the control center because otherwise the agent tree will refresh forever -

ConnectWise Automate

A great tool for conencting to PCs.

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

Its easy to use and integrates with ConnectWise easily. No action needed form the end user to connect. It is easy to connect to remote computers and perform maintenance. Multiple technicians can connect to the same PC at the same time. Auto reconnect after reboot

Cons

No cons that I can see so far. It does now the Icon in the taskbar. A hidden mode would be great.
