Excellent
Easy to use Drag and drop on IWB boards
Needs more "programming" than iSpring but its functionality on IWB boards make up for it.

I've used Adobe Captivate, iSpring, and Articulate Storyline. We used to use only iSpring and Captivate, but I convinced our department to begin using Storyline because if it's ability to control variables and triggers. It opened up a lot more options for the types of courses we were building (test prep courses). By far, Articulate Storyline was the most powerful and gave us the most flexibility. Not long after I began using Storyline, I discovered their awesome user forums and community. I found so much support there that I never wanted to turn back.

Articulate 360 is Articulate's new subscription based e-learning suite that contains all Articulate products in one simple, elegant package. Using 360 will speed up your workflow significantly as you'll be able to pick any of the award winning Articulate tools we already know: Studio, Replay and Storyline, as well as the new kids of the block Rise, the brand new fully responsive authoring tool, Peek...
The combination of tools, the HTML5 output and the integration with products like Review and Content library
Payment plans are on annual basis, not monthly and it would be nice to be able to select which tools you would want in the suite.

The best e-learning development platform on the market, and I've used Captivate and Lectora.
Articulate 360's suite of learning authoring tools are best-in-class and allow for the creation of truly impactful learning programs. Storyline 360, included in the suite, is the industry-standard for creating e-learning and the program is created in such a way that one is only limited by their imagination.
I am not a fan of the subscription model for software. Sometimes, I may go months without a paid gig as a freelancer, but in order to stay up to date, I need to opt for this rather expensive software.

Will continue to use Articulate as a yearly product for helping design/implement training guides
Articulate suite includes multiple incredible tools for creating training/guidance guides and programs. Beyond easy to use and extensive with many features.
Cost was a bit pricey at first glance, however after utilizing products quickly realized overall cost matched overall use/need

We get asked a lot by our clients about different tools to use to create content for their courses (we sell an LMS platform), and the ones we reccommend the most are iSpring and Storyline. Storyline is very powerful, maybe a bit harder to use, but it integrates well with our LMS and has very deep customization options allowing our clients to create really engaging and complex learning experiences.
Its a very powerful tool that allows users to create complex and engaging learning material. Quizzes, graded assignments, self evaluations, and more. It's great that it can create non linear paths so interactions get more complex. It also has great export options that allow good integration with out LMS.
Even if the UI is similar to most Office products, which would make it familiar to users, it's a bit harder to get started with because it has so many options to customize it that some users get overwhelmed. However, for our english speaking clients, there is a big community of storyline users who always helps. For non english speakers...its a bit harder to get help.

Has made creating eLearning easy. As a department of one I am able to turn out content to help our team grow.
Great suite of software for eLearning Development - makes it easy for anyone. I like to content library, the characters that come with the package, and the templates.
I know SAAS is the standard now, but sometimes it feels like an annual gouge. But the package is overall worth the spend.

Of all the Elearning tools on the market, Articulate has the best usability and support The tools and templates offered in the suite allow you build some amazing Elearning.
The one weakness is a few of the offerings is the tradeoff of usability for flexibility. The highly templated nature of a tool like Rise limits the options for layout, functions and interactions. Some tools have a lot of flexibility (Storyline) but others may feel limited due to the target user it is designed for.

Expands on the offering, creating an overall suite of features and potential. For example, the content library lets you grab media where you needn't worry about royalties and searching endlessly. Allows for constant upgrades and improves to each component of the software. This is a growing suite and updates are released regularly. Unlocks potential for greater and more in-depth solutions, rather than standalone content. For example, object collision allows for game creation. Addresses QA issues, with the fantastic review feature. You can see exactly what and when the reviewer is experiencing issues.
Price point may be prohibitive for freelancers, but this has been addressed with normal licence availability. Studio and Replay seem a bit unnecessary now and could perhaps take efforts away from the more useful components of the suite.

A seamless, powerful learning experience for my end-user.
I love all the functionality of the 360 suite; it has authoring software, course delivery software, review software, screen capture software, and a HUGE library of graphics, characters, and templates available at your fingertips.
The output of Storyline can be heavy for older/less efficient computers. I look forward to it becoming a lighter load!

I find the entire suite of Articulate products to be user friendly, easy to navigate for users that just enter the eLearning development space up to advanced users. You can pretty much design and develop any project that you can think of.
The product is simple to navigate and all features are just a mouse click away. The general Microsoft "PowerPoint" feel makes it easy to adapt storyboards and convert it to eLearning. The publishing features are quite extensive, allowing publishing to most types of devices and platforms.
The costs of upgrading and version updates are excessive.

Best in e-learning - for easy development of elearning courses
Articulate 360 is the last iteration of a popular e-learning suite from Artulcate. It works perfectly in HTML 5. Some useful features were added - I especally like the tool tht helps to review the output with clients.
Nothing reallly. The library they have have limited styles - but again that's according to my taste. 98% of elearning developers will find everything they need to be productive.

I have been using Storyline for over 6 years.
The best product in this learning suite is Storyline. You can do essentially anything you want with this Storyline in terms of eLearning. From animations to simulations to videos, this product is an excellent partner when developing online courses.
Rise, which is also a product in this suite has a ton of potential, but there are some major flaws. For example, you cannot copy or move individual screens to a new lesson. It is also not very great if you want to add audio to screens. You can import individual Storyline screens into a Rise project, but at that point, you may as well just build in Storyline. I see its usefulness for novice developers as its very easy to use, as opposed to Storyline which is very technical to use and really made for professional developers.

I started by using Captivate and was not happy with the results. I found that the training I created and articulate looks more professional and was much easier to author.
Articulate has a suite of products that will serve any training needs. For a quick training with interactive elements, RISE is what you will need. For a more complex robust training, STORYLINE is best suited. Assets are robust and very numerous.
The price point is a little high for an individual license. That being said, if that is the only drawback, it is very well worth the price.

I've been using Articulate's products for many years. Articulate has done a great job with Articulate 360 by providing a suite of tools to meet all of my needs. I now have the ability to create fully responsive content, get my courses reviewed by my subject matter experts, and download templates. The list goes on and on.

I started out on Storyline so it holds a soft spot for me in a lot of ways, but I'm expecting some big updates for Rise in future.
I think Articulate have worked really hard to develop as full a suite of tools that most e-learning professionals will need on the job - including Storyline, Rise and Review. I do like the Content Library for the most part but when you work in a specialist industry, it becomes very limited very quickly.
Rise is missing a lot of features that would make it more desirable than using Storyline in these days of rapid development. Storyline development is just too slow to work with regularly in my day-to-day work so I rely on Rise more (though this is due to working with another piece of software in another job that was similar but far superior however for agnostic device development, it's useful) - they...

Articulate has taken my favorite authoring tool to a new level by building it into a suite of tools for an elearning developer. Being cloud based allows for frequent updates, in fact an update came out just today. My favorite new tools are Rise, a fully responsive development app, and Review, an online tool for collecting comments/feedback from SMEs/clients during the development phase.
There is much to like about the software but I'd say the support community that Articulate has put together is unmatched. Staff and community members are just phenomenal.
It's a suite of products, basically everything that Articulate makes, and it's all or nothing. While it is still possible to buy some of the original products as standalones and Articulate is promising support for these you can't get the cloud-based apps ala carte. I wish they offered a model like Adobe does with its Creative Cloud where you can purchase the whole package or just select the specific ones you're interested in.

I love how intuitive the UI is - very similar to the familiar Office suite. Tons of triggers, animations, and media types to make great elearning. Especially useful is the layers function, which makes it easier to create rich media and manage the source files. Lots of my clients really appreciate the review site and our communication there, and it makes it easier for me to manage feedback!
You definitely need to be an expert in order to make the most of this tool; while a novice may be able to create objects and basic animations, you've got to dive pretty deep to use all of the features. You'd be surprised that the elearning courses you've taken before which look like they are built by the most creative developers and designers are actually done in Storyline. It's also insanely expensive and make it cost prohibitive for most.

This is an easy to use design software that is flexible enough to do a lot of really amazing things if you are creative. The various products within the 360 suite further expand the possibilities for learning design and delivery across multiple platforms. The communities associated are very responsive allowing me to engage with others using the product to expand my understanding of the capabilities and work through specific challenges that I encounter.
This is a great instructional design product that allows for seamless communication throughout the iterative process with all involved. The product makes designing online learning easy and opens up tons of possibilities for the creatively minded.
While there are many options and flexibility when it comes to adding in Java scripting, I have found that the support in this area is lacking. Also some simple and useful feature requests have been ignored across various versions despite long lists in the discussion forums requesting such logical feature upgrades. Other issues that I have with the product are really issues with SCORM which has its own limitations and issues.

Overall, I am happy with the product, but it's mainly because there doesn't seem to be a better option at the moment. If they could apply more resources to these products to fix bugs and add features, I think they'd have something no other tool could even touch. But it seems like updates to 360 tools is not something they take seriously.
Articulate Rise is currently my favorite tool for simple web based training development. Very easy to build beautiful and responsive courses that flow well and are easy to navigate. Great interactive elements that work well on any device, and overall a very nice tool for simple elearning courses.
Support and frequency of updates are just horrible. I've never worked with a product that was so poorly supported and so painfully slow to receive product updates and new features. Manny very basic feature requests that have been submitted on multiple tools within the 360 suite by hundreds of users have been "in development" for over 4 years. In the 3 years I've used the toolset, bug fixes and feature updates have been so infrequent, they're almost non-existent.

The award-winning tools from Articulate are top notch. Whether you are new to eLearning and need to quickly publish legacy PowerPoints to an online format, or want the ability to create some slick interactivity Articulate's suite of tools has you covered. Storyline 2 is the best tool on the market and has the community standing behind it to lend a helping hand. My favorite feature of the tool is its ease of use...it's intuitive enough for beginners to jump right in.

I have been a fan of the Articulate suite of products since I struggled with Captivate and discovered Storyline 1. The latest incarnation, articulate 360 combines all their products into one subscription model. Essentially this saves me the trouble of making piecemeal purchases from multiple vendors to get all the assets, templates, or specialty software I need. This has made the best rapid e-learning tool on the market even better. Still waiting for a custom avatar creator and a little better video editing. Other than that, the new Articulate 360 does it all!
Ease of use, integration of all products, expanding library of assets, seamless scaling across devices.
A bit memory intensive (slows my work computer down).

After years of using Flash and other Adobe suite creative products when you first switch to Articulate Storyline you are skeptical. You soon learn that the ease of creation and ability to publish for multiple users, either PC or Apple platform using HTML5 makes you wonder why you didn't move sooner. The answer to that is the product was not developed to the level it is at now. With a host of templates and developers within the community exchanging ideas and solutions the whole ball game has changed.

It is easy to get up and running, just difficult with branching, media, and sound control issues.
I like how easy it is to learn to use iSpring.
Branching not as easy as Articulate 360, Sound edit not as easy as Camtasia, and it is a pain to download assets and templates.

Because I cannot get any support from them unless I subscribe to their latest version for nearly the full price of the software, I have to give them one star. No support = no customer service. No customer service = bad policy.
The options offered for engagement and interest level.
If you do not repurchase this software yearly via their maintenance program, you get no support. No chat, no email, no online knowledgebase. I can't even begin to describe how disappointed I am. To me, that is unethical. A company that does not support all versions of its software does not deserve to be in business. I checked my copy of Articulate 360, and they provided support to Articulate 13 released in, you guessed it, 2013. My version of iSpring is less than 2 years old. I'll be converting all of my elearning lessons to Articulate360 BECAUSE of their amazing support.
Hi Eileen, Thank you so much for your detailed review of iSpring products and service. We appreciate your taking the time to submit it here on Capterra. As per your Cons, let me please note that for those who do not wish to continue with the Maintenance plan, we have a vast collection of helpful resources available online, such as video tutorials, help docs, articles, webinars, FAQs: https://www.ispringsolutions.com/support. We also have social media pages where anybody can ask our community any question about iSpring. Those who do have maintenance plan, however, get immediate support via chat, phone as well as 24/7 email assistance. Hope that helps!
