CANVAS vs iSpring Suite Comparison

My college had started using canvas. I love the weekly reports I get and the alerts when something is graded. We have the ability to communicate and collaborate through the app. There is also homework material and online lectures that can be posted on the app.

My professors usually have to straddle using canvas with the college's proprietary app (learning suite). I guess they have struggled with personalizing the class the way they want which causes them to use learning suite and canvas together, which cash be very frustrating for a student.

This suite had a number of features which I know professors enjoyed. It seemed to be preferable to them compared to Blackboard.

My school adopted Canvas as a replacement for Blackboard Learn. I felt this suite was much more difficult to use and confusingly laid out on the client side.

What I like most about Canvas was the many different features and integrations it supported. The software could be used by beginner or novice users.

The software was very difficult for a portion of my instructors to configure and the robust features caused configuration fatigue.

-Can be navigated on PC or mobile - Video or audio files can be uploaded as an instructor or student - Works well with Google Suite and Facebook.

- Some of the best features are hard to find. -Not very intuitive beyond the basics

Almost everyone knows about Canvas and how could we not it's got enough options to suite any teachers needs. It gets molded by you into what you need.

The software could have a more friendly learning how to use system.

Canvas is a significant upgrade to the social management software suite options. I appreciate the user-friendly environment, flexibility in "add-ons" and external connections, and mobile/tablet functionality.

Canvas loses connections with Active Directory occasionally (1 time per month, on average).

It easy to use and has handy tools to make teaching an entirely online class easier.

Sometimes, I'm not entirely certain how to complete a task. However, I found that there are many online resources to resolve questions I might have.

It is super-easy to use, user-friendly and simple design. I also like the fact that the instructors can manipulate and add/drop features for students to be used for the course such as discussion. It supports almost all forms of educational tools such as Microsoft Office, Google G suite, PDF and many other formats.

The website is not that reliable from time to time as it goes down unexpectedly, at least for me, but it usually is fixed quickly.

1. hands-down, the easy integration with G-suite. Can imbed files and modify the docs. That way you don't have to re-create or edit assignments, instructions, etc. in Canvas every time. 2. Gradebook is easy to use and has useful functions with assignment weight, categories, etc. 3. Calendar function and checklist is helpful for students. You need to "train" them where to look, but it ends up being fairly intuitive for them.

Often glitchy. Particularly in the gradebook. If you import something over from previous years, sometimes shows up as "missing" for students. And the time-stamping of assignments is a pain for different classes. Wish there was some way to standardize so I didn't have to do it every time.

easy to use and lower cost vs Canvas (our previous LMS)

more built-in content authoring would be nice instead of always having to use iSpring Suite

The video recording/editing directly in the suite, the quizzes are great and that they interface with the Canvas grade book make it awesome. We also like the interactive types of lessons you can include in your course with iSpring.

Since it is working on PowerPoint it is restricted to canvas size of your powerpoint slide. So there is no auto resize on your device. This is quite dissapointing when you design your content on powerpoint and expect to work on mobile device portrait mode or vice versa.

I use the software for recording presentations, converting them to a SCORM format and uploading them to Canvas. At this point I don't use it for quizzes, tests, or other aspects. It works very well for what I do use it for and reduces file sizes when I use video to a manageable size. It is also nice because the lectures are easy for students to navigate if they want to listen to certain portions multiple times.

I don't have anything I dislike about this software.
