The software creates one simple place to organize many classroom tools—such as: syllabus, discussions, grades, virtual classroom/chat room, etc. The software is user friendly.
The software occasionally has glitches or lags during virtual classes. Students and instructors have trouble logging in and staying in.

It is a great tool that I previously used for snow days to keep learning going in my classroom but now I am using it for all my online classes and it has been a great tool that the students and I use to continue our classes.
It was easy to set up a virtual classroom within my Blackboard classroom. It is easy to upload your power point presentations to present lectures, it has a polling feature where you can ask live questions and get immediate feedback as the students answer the question. It has a whiteboard feature that you can write and draw on for equations or flow charts.
The product works only through google chrome so if a student does not open it in Chrome then they will not be able to get into the virtual classroom.

This is a great virtual classroom and we found students are a lot more engaged when and interested in working with others
Some technical glitches in the past and we were not able to get solutions as fast as we would have hoped

Great experience. It's a virtual classroom which helped me a lot with transitioning to online learning due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The video capability and interaction with multiple people at a time. I love the smart white board that comes with it.
It's a little hard to navigate through at first. But you get used to it eventually. It takes some learning.

Very user friendly software apt for students to do online courses. Also works well for classroom discussion, virtual sessions and taking tests. Classes can also be recorded.
The learning curve to get used to the software features is longer compared to google classroom and microsoft teams.

Since spending 5+ years with Blackboard and Collaborate, we have since switched to Canvas. I am not seeing any issues here, albeit it has only been a year and counting since the switch. I have not had any error messages, and I've conducted live chats and webinars with students without issues. Crossing my fingers that it is the program we've been waiting for and it will keep performing for many years!
Collaborate is easy to set up initially, and it allows online collaboration - hence the title - between students and both their peers in the virtual classroom and their professor.
For short-term use, the program excels. For long-term users, there are too many bugs in the program for it to be viable for higher education use. We expect our students to be tech savvy, and it is embarrassing when our software does not hold up to this same standard. I frequently got "unavailable" or "error: contact your program administrator" messages, costing me valuable time with my students. There were also times when the whiteboard would freeze, and I'd have to reboot my entire computer while my students waited.

This application solves well in my profession as a lecturer and as a student as well. It benefits both those who manage the sessions, as well as the students or participants in general.
I really like the virtual classroom and the various tools it has to manage the sessions and interact with the participants, and know the internet connection that each participant has.
It is not a very easy platform to use, you have to understand it first or practice to master it. There are some tools that can be improved, such as screen sharing, permissions to record and manage the session (which others can't easily do), and fast connection to sessions.

Overall, Blackboard Collaborate has served me well as a teaching platform. I have been able to use its many features to promote engagement, learning, and safety.
Features like private chat, breakout rooms, screen sharing, polling, and file transfer are critical to maximizing learning and engagement in a virtual classroom. The capacity to monitor student work and communication is also vital.
The inability to see all students at the same time is a distinct disadvantage for teachers and students. The degree of resources required for screen sharing makes this an inaccessible feature for many students.

BBC has some nice tools and features, but in order for this to have real value additional features and improvements are needed.
I like the BBC teaching tools and features (drawing tools, image captures, breakout rooms, etc.). This is a great tool for the classroom setting and virtual training events. I also like the teleconference bridge feature.
There are many frequent technical issues, often making it impossible to access. Audio can be tricky at times as well. It's not great for use as a marketing tool, especially due to the fact that it requires downloads to access. The other major issue is the lack of attendee data or ability to easily capture or store participant engagement data.

Overall, this software has made distance learning easy and interactive.
I really enjoyed how easy it was to use this software. I've used the software for one my online learning classes. I like how interactive you can get with others and the amount of ways you can interact with each other in the virtual classroom.
I was having trouble connecting at first to my class room and getting the room setup but once I was in there I had no trouble. There was occasional lag with the webcams but once it leveled out all was fine.

The software is easy to use once you become accustomed to it. It is great as a virtual classroom and for training purposes. It can be used by educators to deliver courses and provide certification where necessary. The features allow for engagement and full participation whether individually or in groups.
The software requires somewhat of a large bandwidth so that there is no connection issue especially during a web conference.

The benefits from this is that there is no longer an obstacle between students learning and professors teaching, it can be done from the comfort of home thanks to this software!!!
How it helps expand teaching beyond the classroom.
Connectivity issues due to software glitches can happen but they don't occur frequently.

My overall experience was great. As a virtual environment was not the most popular means for schools, Blackboard Collaborate made this transition smooth during the pandemic. It is a great tool for learning either as a student or a teacher.
It is a secure and safe video conferencing application, which makes learning in a virtual environment easy and accessible. I find the whiteboard option that gives all users the opportunity to write simultaneously particularly useful for groups to share and collaborate. I also like chat feature with the ability to speak publicly and privately. It has bridged the gap between the physical and virtual classroom allowing students to learn remotely and be able to review lesson which was not possible in a physical environment.
The problem I had with this software was sometimes i had an issue connecting my microphone and camera. It's user interface could be improved, making tasks such as playing videos and sharing images easier as it takes a long period to upload content on the platform

Great remote classroom experience. professional glitch free platform for class collaboration
I have used this blackboard learn and BB collaborate during my grad school at George Washington University. The Collaborate was great tool for distance students and remote sessions. We were able to easily view the professor, the lecture slides, annotations, chat with other attendees live and have the session recorded. With all these features, the software was smooth and glitch free.
Blackboard is not for free. The university has to pay per student license on yearly basis. Blackboard in return would provide professional software support, patches and upgrades.

I was using this software for a class and I understood how to use it. But then, they did an upgrade over the summer and suddenly I didn't know how to use it or to tell the students how. I figured it out and it is really easy and effective once you do that, but lost time in the class as a result. A better introduction to changes and advance notice would have helped.
Ease of use. Effective way to have an off-site classroom discussion
No preparation for planned upgrade or directions on how to use.

A good platform for a virtual experience educational
I enjoy to preparer the scenario previously and while the students login to the platform, I chat with them: "Hey, welcome" and I invite them to change their profile, after that, I share with them my PowerPoint files or I give them the guideline to share their files. To assign or change the session-role with the students has been a great experience: let them drive the class and expose their jobs from their device, sharing their desktop, letting them to use any software to show it. Its `no necessary a big bandwidth of Internet, it works fine with medium/low bandwidth, in this way the video and the sound communication are pretty good, considering this.
I must take time to teach/familiarize previously for the students in the use of the platform, it is not an intuitive software.

Blackboard is a virtual classroom as it can show you power point presentation at the same time your presenting it, through a camera! Distance learning is now made easier and more convenient by having your power point presentations play at the same time you are explaining it. It is also very helpful for the student who cannot follow through a manual side by side slideshow presentation of the power point and the speaker.
It might require quite a lot of data usage or a fast internet connection for it to work properly and for you to actually understand something in your lessons. Some features might also be confusing for the students who are first time users but overall, the concept and idea of having both your presentation and you at the same frame is a great idea!

It is very easy to use; the invitation process works through email and is a self explanatory process to follow.
The only trouble I ran into was having to install flash player in order to do the video part once inside the classroom.

Blackboard allows me to meet with my students in a virtual setting.
I like that the software was easy to use. I was able to learn the functions of the software on my own without any extensive training. I also like that when I invite students to meet me in the "blackboard room", that it is simply one click for them, type their name and they are in.
It may have been technical issues on my end, but sometimes Blackboard would timeout in the middle of a session with a student.

- Full control to moderators. - Classroom like features. - Ultra has amazing speeds and isn't difficult to set up (as a user)
- Old software, not up to date (original) - Ultra version doesn't provide same kind of control as original.

The ability to hold virtual meetings for business as well as academics is great. Our instructors love using Collaborate for virtual office hours and our HR department uses it for job interviews and board meetings. Great program.
Ease of use and integration into Blackboard courses with the additional capability of use outside of the LMS. The ability to hold virtual meetings for business as well as academics is great. Our instructors love using Collaborate for virtual office hours and our HR department uses it for job interviews and board meetings. Great program.
The compatibility with browsers other than Chrome has caused issues for faculty in the past. It is our understanding that Collaborate is made specifically for Chrome, which is not everyone's browser of choice.

Excellent method to reach all of our learners across the country Makes reaching contact time outcomes a breeze Learner engagement is effective and easy
The cost if the programme when moving to creating actual full-time classroom sessions for learners. It may not be cost-effective for a start-up training academy
