It does what I need it to do, but it's expensive for the functionality that I need to do
The functionality of keeping family information and the history of payments, classes, and emails all in one.
After reading an email from the listed email titles, it goes back to the first page instead of the page where you left off, so you need to find that page again.

Since day one we install this software and it was life-saving, the transition was easy. The entire system is very easy to use and there are many capabilities to manage the school. The customer service is just outstanding, this is what really has them apart from any other customer service I have worked with, they really take time to walk you through and fix your issue. The material available for training on your own is also easy and very complete.
Our school is primarily for private students and the software has been designed for group lessons, so there are times we have to make some tweaks in order to work for the way the school is structured.

We are ensuring that we are getting paid for the classes provided, and that we are paying our teachers appropriately.
Jackrabbit is very robust. It ensures that our classes are scheduled, tuition is paid, and teachers get paid properly. It was a game changer from our old method of using a Google calendar for class scheduling, a billing software for tuition, and a spreadsheet to pay the teachers. Before, Billings and teacher payments were falling through the cracks. Now, with Jackrabbit, we are confident that we are tracking everything and getting paid. The parent portal is also a game-changer, empowering our parents to easily notify us of changes and see their account, freeing up our staff for other tasks.
There are a couple of demographics fields that we must track in the US, for nonprofit government grants. I hope these can be added as a feature. Race/Ethnicity/Income level are examples. Also, we need a way to do substitutions on our private lessons, and track more than one teacher for group lessons (and do substitutions there too).

So far, Jackrabbit Music has helped us achieve our goals in building our music program, however some times I feel like I spend more time trying to figure out how to finish a task than the task itself. I am grateful for the top notch customer service however, as they are always there to help me find my way through the program.
I like that there are multiple options for setting up classes, events, etc. and that I am able to access contact info for all of my clients.
The private lesson module is not ideal. I should be able to reschedule a one off lesson or cancel a lesson easily so that it reflects better on my calendar. I am unable to mark attendance for my instructors without having to be added to their class and accessing the portal. I also wish there was a way I could reschedule a one off lesson without having to create a whole new "class". The interface is outdated and some times hard to find your way around.

I really enjoy that I can pull a large variety of reports and have many different items easily tracked (attendance, billing, store items etc). We run both private and group lessons and this is one of the few softwares that we can actually manage both on. It's not perfect as JackRabbit seems to be focused on group lessons but for any hiccups we run into for our group programs I can almost always find a work around. The support staff is also amazing! Always friendly, responds quickly, and has been able to resolve almost every issue I've run into. I also enjoy that Jackrabbit tracks who's made the last change/edit to anything in the program so we can quickly resolve issues that arise.
The bane of my existence at this time of year is make up lessons. We have several term ends around this time along with classes that run into the new year and different policies for different classes. So I need to pull the absences/make-ups allowance report and go through each and every absence manually to ensure the correct end date and availability. For this flu season we had about 400 absences in November alone. That takes a lot of my time away and can cause a fair amount of confusion for parents. The only other item I don't understand is why the events seems like almost a separate program from the rest of the platform. It seems like a very interesting feature and I would love to use it more but with it being in a different calendar, that alone makes it almost unusable for us.

We really like this software overall. It's made a lot of things easier for us as a business, and there is still so many unexplored features that we still have to try.We will definitely continue using this product for the foreseeable future. I think the only thing that would make us switch away from this product, would be if our music studio hit and enrollment level that just got to cumbersome for the software. At that point we might switch to something more heavy duty like MindBody, which has definitively better and more user-friendly scheduling and billing capabilities; But that's something to reassess farther down the line.
I love that this software was such an upgrade from what we were using before (Course storm), and that the price point is perfect for where we are as a program. I love that the price only increases as our business increases, so you know what to anticipate. One thing I really want to point out is the website integration! You can set up your website so that class is automatically pop up when you have them...
My biggest qualms with jackrabbit software:Customer billing requires a lot of work. There's some automation available, but it doesn't work correctly if you haven't gone through your system and double checked everyone's categories. I also don't think there's an option to automate e-payments. That means that whatever your billing cycle is, you have to go in every month to do it. I would just really love to check a box that says Susie gets charged $100 a month, and then never have to think about it again until Susie quits.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this software and the staff that keep it going. The groups on Facebook are ever so helpful and speaking with tech support ALWAYS yields a solution. Always.
I love that the software is mostly intuitive. There are a few pains, but overall I can find the information I need rather quickly.
I don't like the limited views that we require as a music school with mostly private lessons.

While there were some learning curves at first, I found that JackRabbit Music just works best. I've tried three other competing software platforms and while they each have unique features that are appealing, in the end they did not live up to my expectations or to the standard of JackRabbit.
The user interface isn't the most intuitive. This is my biggest negative. Sometimes just finding things takes some digging but it's always there. Biggest improvement I'd like to see is a more user friendly interface, visual in nature.

Very good customer service and overall steady, reliable platform
Integration with website. Customers are unaware of leaving the site to register. Although we no longer have the program where we used customer registration regularly
More robust than we need. We could get by with a simpler platform.

The best thing about Jackrabbit is its support team. They are always there to help and guide through problems.
We hoped it would be a complete music school management software, but it is not.
Signing up for the software we realized that a few critical features were not there, but were assured that it is under consideration. Two years later, after multiple "idea suggestions" with an overwhelming support from the fellow users these critical for any music school features are still missing. There is still No Store feature and No private lessons feature. Dance Recital Ticketing and the Uniform are not useful to a music school. Considering other options now. The only thing stopping me is the amount of time we spend learning and organizing, but unless the Private lessons and the store would be include, the switch will happen.

Jackrabbit has taken the place of multiple softwares that we were previously using. It has been excellent for us because we are able to track so many different metrics, everything from student progress to inventory to enrollment data. It is an investment in time to set up, but well worth it.
This is very a comprehensive program! The reporting, tracking, scheduling and billing features are excellent. Jackrabbit is constantly updating the interface, increasing functionality and improving the user experience.
Because it is so comprehensive, it is sometimes very cumbersome. Taking the basic training they offer is well worth the investment.

Excellent.
Ease of use, easy to train staff to use, great data storage, usually pretty fast
We put the total of annual tuition on accounts at one time so people can see the total they committed to paying. Some elect to pay in monthly installments. As it currently is, I have to manually charge all of those accounts each month by typing in their monthly installment amount and applying it to the tuition balance. It takes a lot of time. Wish we could have an option to enter that monthly amount once and automatically charge and apply it, along with any other fees incurred that month. Would save hours of admin time.

Overall it has helped us grow by maintaining basic family & student information and streamlining billing. I do not manage the billing so I can't speak to specifics, but I think it has helped streamline things for our team.
Jackrabbit is most useful to us for registration, billing, and maintaining a contact database that is sortable by location, instructor, and other parameters.
It can be a bit clunky and lacks robust customization. 1. We need the ability to customize student info such as gender options beyond male/female, instrument, etc. We use the user defined fields to gather this info but there is no way to make these fields appear on a student's "main" page. I end up manually copying & pasting or typing it all into a spreadsheet. If we could customize further, I could take care of all of this. I'd also like parents/mentors/caregivers/step parents be able to manually enter their relationship to students instead of selecting from a drop down menu. The options are just too limited. 2. We rely on Google calendar to actually manage and reschedule lessons.

Some people on our team really struggle with it. Setting up classes is very time-consuming. Once you know how to set up the classes so the billing and registration work well, it's easier.
I've had excellent experiences with customer support. The training modules are also very helpful. It's worth investing time into those modules and getting the certifications.
There are a lot of aspects of the admin interface/dashboard/calendar that I do not care for. I am still finding features that would have been helpful to know about before, but they were sort of hidden in the menus (which are awkwardly named). It would be very helpful to have a feature that lets you "test drive" the Parent Portal - to get a handle on what the viewer sees. Right now we have to set it up on the back end and then log in with a test account, which is not very convenient.

It does not register if a payment was stopped. It takes too many steps in order to process a payment. Everything is very time consuming.
Search families is quick. We can see a long transaction history
There are so many buttons to click and subcategories. If I want to edit the family I cannot do it from their main page I have to go into contacts - edit from there. If I change the cost of a class in "classes" it does not update in transactions. That is so frustrating. Reports area is junky and too cluttered. If a payment doesn't go through.. it isn't registered with Jackrabbit.

I love that all of my student and staff information is in one place. I can email, run payments, check schedules, clock hours in one spot. The interface with Quickbooks is easy, too. We are new to student portals and connecting resources for virtual learning, but so far that is going well.
There is not much space available for uploading resources for students into their class. However, I have not checked in to see if there is an option to upgrade. You are able to link to Dropbox or Youtube which is a good alternative.

Before Jackrabbit, we used 4 different databases. Jackrabbit has made our lives SO much easier!
Jackrabbit has made it SO easy for our piano school to maintain our database, keep in touch, and bill our customers.
The only thing I would change is the way that registration fees are set up. We are forced to use another software for our classes that have different fees, which is inconvenient.

They have made a lot of upgrades and continue to meet the needs of their customers.
All their systems work together. It is a one-stop program and integrate everything within the studio. I got rid of my Quickbooks, merchant account, outside scheduler when I moved to Jackrabbit. I could get rid of our communications systems except it would be too hard to move everyone over at this point.
We do group classes and private lessons. Even thought they say they handle private instruction, they don't do it well. So if a student wants to take an every other week lesson, those are all separate class enrollments. So in that case, it is not friendly to a private studio. We had been with them before and for another program due to this. We came back because we needed an integrated system. I figured we'd come up with a work around.

My business has gotten easier and easier to manage as a result of using Jackrabbit Class. It is the lifeline of my business, and I couldn't do without my Jackrabbit!!
I've been a loyal Jackrabbit user for over 10 years now. We chose the program because of its powerful capabilities and proven track record. With an enrollment of nearly 700 families, I love having so much data about every student in our music school at just a click away. The reports, Staff Portal, online registration, and ease of billing/collection have saved me countless hours and therefore, so much money! Best of all, Jackrabbit Support is unparalleled - accessible, responsive, and always super helpful. I have also benefited tremendously from the regular software reviews that Jackrabbit offers. Jackrabbit really listens to their customers too, always making enhancements that make the software easier and better to use!
There is a bit of a learning curve, and Jackrabbit doesn't have some of the slick add-on's that other software offers, but it's other features and benefits outweigh this, in my mind.
Thanks for your help in spreading the good word about Jackrabbit! We love it when our clients get great value from using our software and we hope that you continue to thrive and benefit from your Jackrabbit experience.

this software simple and easy to use once you get use to it. It gives you a quick overview of weekly schedule per teacher and all students enrolled. You have the whole family profile and can do all the accounting like invoices and collecting fees. You can also can communicate with families and leads with a click of the button.
it can be overwhelming especially at the beginning, but they have a great support staff. I really can't say any other negative things. If there is something that need improvement they start working on it.

What I like most is the amount of time I save using Jackrabbit. I can post monthly tuition fees for 900 students, and collect the money on the first of the month(credit cards and bank drafts) in less than 30 minutes! I love that Jackrabbit can export financial data to Quickbooks, which saves me from re-entering data. I love the lesson scheduling, which can keep track of future drops and future enrolls. Because we have so many families with the same last name, I love that it keeps student_family_transactions all in one place to avoid errors. I love the extensive reporting capabilty. I could go on, but you get the idea. If you tried to take it away from me, you would have a fight on your hands.
It is a little bit pricey. On makeup lessons, it would be helpful to be able to record a "partial makeup", for example if the student is owed a 30 minute lesson, and the instructor is able to give a 15 minute makeup, it would be nice to be able to keep track of that.

I like the customer service and the continuous improvement of your software based on customer suggestions.
That there is no way to filter out toxic families when creating email reports for active or inactive families OR when archiving families to a lead file. There is no way to put toxic families into another category so they can't re-enroll again. This is easily one of your largest discrepancies and has caused turmoil for us as well as another businesses we know who has used this software. We have considered switching to Apple's new software because the other business we know crumbled due to this defect in your software. Other than that your software is fantastic!

Easy access. Fast interface.
Easily access accounts from the web. Fast interface and well laid out. JR is good about adding features and making them relevant. Customer service is good and fast to respond.
1) There is no way to export TAX to quickbooks!!!! This is a HUGE problem. Every month we need to make a separate manual entry that tracks the tax. 2) The Revenue Summary (and similar) reports are terrible. The groupings are very difficult to read. It should have a nice format according to CAT1, 2, 3 for easy sub-totaling. It also needs to break-out the taxes. 3) The export to excel for the reports...

The ability to show customers what is open by going to our website. Having autopay. Having good contact info for our students. I wish we could have the parent thing only be required if they are under 18. People get confused when they are adults that sign up. It's too oriented for kids.
Sometimes we feel like we have to trick the software to get it to do what we want. We have to post fees lots of times to bill for each class a month. I can't just bill for all the mondays or all the days of the coming month.
