Our company is not able to more accurately and completely track time to be charged to a project.

Pros

BigTime allows users from a variety of backgrounds to connect to the software from various platforms (desktop, laptop, smart phone) to track time per project, to track expenses on a daily basis with electronic submission of receipts, to run reports on time spent, to connect with external accounting software seamlessly.

Cons

(For example: In BigTime, billable means charged to the project, may invoiced or may not invoice.

Fairly easy to learn, and the customer support is great.

Ease of keeping track of all of the engagements for each client in one place; the ability to run reports that are extremely helpful and able to be customized so that I can see the exact information I want.

Pros

The software has LOTS of functionality - we were very pleased with everything it can do. The only times I have had to contact Customer Support are when I am trying to learn a new function; the system is very stable and never crashes, unlike some of the programs we use!

Cons

I would like it if there was an interface back from QuickBooks to Big Time to update the status of invoices as they go through the billing process.

Time tracking, expense reports and invoicing all comes out of the same information that is entered in one place: BigTime We use QuickBooks for accounting and the BigTime information flows easily into QuickBooks at a nightly synchronization.

Pros

The ease of use and setup, management and flawless connection to QuickBooks to post information and allow us to invoice clients, print and pay expense reports and collect project information in an easy to use project database.

Cons

That the BigTime monitor is not a service but it requires an account to be always signed in in order to run.

Dove into BT at first without support. Once I ran into roadblocks, support was there~

Great control; one stop shop for all project and client data; ease of interface with QB online!

Pros

-depth of functionality - flexibility in managing different projects which have different metrics for performance and / or different reporting requirements!

Cons

Some simple functions are not easy to find without support; ie: linking tax codes to invoices. Also, being able to see a preview of a pdf invoice before having to generate it and then look at it, would be MUCH more helpful and save a lot of time mucking around with pdf's trying to get formatting correct.

Implementing BigTime provided us structure for our consultants to begin tracking time and capturing expense receipts electronically, while on the road.

Pros

Support is available online, live chat or by phone. Integration with QuickBooks has saved time and steps in our daily workflow.

Cons

Stopping in the middle of a key process- such as monthly invoicing- to watch a YouTube video is not conducive to workflow.

Clear dashboard . East for employees - able to have employees only see and enter client, time and work code.

Cons

Regarding invoicing, would like to be able to have a single fixed amount charged to all invoices in addition to regular time and billing. no separate Ipad app.

It also doesn't try to incorporate every piece of functionality into one place - focusing instead/first on having a great interface that's easy to use and building on features.

Cons

The only thing I wish it had was the ability to cross-tab report data by time period - all of the reporting is very customizable, but flat - if you pull data for a multi-month period, you can't organize the results by month.

Engaging in a demo and using the free trial was very helpful. Do the best you can to define your requirements, both current and near-term up front... we picked the "right thing for right now" knowing that it may not have everything we would need for the long-term future because getting up to speed quickly and easily was important to us. The customer support at Big Time in my opinion is superb. Live Chat offers quick easy access.

The reporting feature is extremely helpful in pulling quick data, such as hours worked in a specific range or remaining hours for a project/PTO.

Cons

One example involves invoicing. It is confusing to us why hours entered by an employee are available to invoice even if the hours have not been approved.

Ease of use with Quickbooks integrations and lots of customizations for staff

Pros

I love that it links to Quickbooks; I have so much less leg work than my previous software when it comes to data entry. So far a fairly smooth transition from the previous software.

Cons

However, when I have tried to tailor existing reports or make my own I always get an error that my report can't be created. Third, our billing cycle falls mid month and it would be preferable if timesheets and billing could be broken up by custom billing cycle rather than monthly.

I do have a couple of users that have had problems with Clients/Tasks disappearing from their timesheets. But I also believe they often leave their BigTime up and running all the time. When I have them close down and re-open it's like the program has a chance to re-set and that helps.
