Pros

I love living in one database. It is wonderful that it links with Outlook and can track all data related to a Matter or Contract, including related contacts.
Overall, the best time and billing software out there. I have demo'd several and Clio was the clear winner.
Great support and excellent cloud-based option at a very reasonable price. Glad to see regular improvements and updates, taking user feedback into account.

Pros

Our dedicated Law Ruler resource, Hillel Charm, is great at helping our team work through business cases and how to use Law Ruler to effectively solve for these.
I can't not say enough wonderful things about Hillel Charm and our positive interactions. Hillel has helped our team get the most out of Law Ruler for our business.
What appeals to me the most about the software itself is its ability to help track our different marketing campaigns. I also love the automatic text and email replies to our clients.

Cons

I hate when I am asked for instructions on setting up their client portal because I have no instructions to give them.
This is especially clear in light of its competition, Abacus or AbacusNext or AbacusLaw or whatever other evil derivative product they put out there which is all horrible in my experience.
My client started having trouble uploading her documents to me. Assignments went missing, and so deadlines were missed.

Cons

The other companies who I won't mention were trying to force my firm to fit into how their software worked which failed miserably.
I've been through a massive transition from a CRM to an ERP. It was a miserable experience.
Prior to Law Ruler, leads were always a complete mess.

Very user-friendly, easy to navigate and utilize search feature. Easy to open and save documents.

Cons

It would be nice if you could click on the category column and it pair the different categories together, that would make for a great search option.

Clio was an easy-to-use application for law students to become familiar with time-keeping and case management software. I felt very prepared to enter a law practice after using Clio while in law school.

Pros

I used Clio in a Small Business Clinic experiential learning class in law school. I liked the modern look and intuitive user-friendly nature of the app. It also was very easy to keep track of time spent on matters.

Cons

There was nothing that I did not like about this software since my experience with case management software at the time was limited to LMS+.

Quite frankly, as currently offered, we believe the Clio software is the best value for dollar. In January 2020, we transitioned from a different online practice management software because we felt that it was lacking in features. We used the prior software for more than ten years. The transition was smooth and we have not looked back since. Over the two and a half years we have used Clio, all of our questions have been quickly answered by tech support. The product is first rate!

Pros

Clio offers a full suite of tools to effectively manage our busy family law firm. The developers are regularly adding new features and integrations.

Cons

The current set of features are comparable with all of the major law firm practice management software.

Very friendly and helpful.

Pros

The software is a great and easy way to electronically have all client information accessible. I enjoy the features of saving all emails to client files as well as the phone app.

Cons

The software doesn’t have many features to customize it for the specific business. I don’t find this to be critical in our small law firm; however, I can see how larger law firms would want this feature.

Huge upgrade from my former law firm, which used no case management software whatsoever.

Pros

User interface is very friendly. Easy to learn.

Cons

You can’t modify a draft document you’re working on and save it and have that saved draft automatically upload to Clio.

Clio has been a game-changer for our law firm. Before my team attended the Clio Cloud Conference, we were probably only using about 10% of the features that Clio offers. Now we're probably using 60% of the features they offer (in time we'll make systems and policies to use more of its features), and it has greatly increased productivity. For example, we use to prepare legal documents the "old way"...

Pros

Clio is great because it is very user-friendly, has many great third-party plugins/integrations, and has a satisfactory smart-phone app.

Cons

Clio lacks some features that would accommodate/improve certain functions of my law firm. However, this is probably to be somewhat expected since every law firm is different, and it's hard for a system to accommodate every possible law firm business model.

Great bang for your buck -- even as a Canadian user. For reference, at the law firms I previously worked at, PC Law and ProLaw were the accounting and practice management software. ProLaw seemed plagued by compatibility issues, and I found the interface for PC Law reminiscent of an old version of Windows.

Pros

No updates due to cloud format, it is really "subscribe and play", and no compatibility issues; Works very well with Xero for accounting; Easy to get up and running (and customize); Small monthly payments are easier on the budget when starting out; Very responsive tech support; Great interface that is easy to navigate

I love how easy it is to keep track of my cases and keep files. The best feature in my opinion is being able to e-mail correspondences and have a document from the e-mail automatically go to the document tab.

good program, needs a lower-priced, potentially pared-down version for small offices.

Pros

Clio has amazing features, but where it really shines is its ability to integrate with multiple other services, like quickbooks dropbox, etc. Amazing!

Cons

It is overpriced, per user, based on what the company thinks a law firm can afford, making it slightly unreachable for single person, and smaller law offices.

Cons

CLIO does not help with managing legal cases. As a legal case management tool, I give them 1 star, but only because they mischaracterize themselves as a legal case management tool. If CLIO categorized itself as a first person shooter game, I'd also give them 1 star.

Overall 100% pleased, and customer service is great and response time is excellent. I also like the the team members for Clio are REAL PEOPLE who know their stuff.

Pros

This product changed the way we do business. What I like most is how this software changes with the changing needs of law.

Cons

I think there are too many variations in the plans. I would appreciate one pricepoint and features for all to experience the same product. I also think the option should exist for one to not have to apply to all. (if one changes plans, each member has to upgrade as well.)

Easy to use and search for contacts, notes, and documents. Billing is also easy to use.

Cons

certain features from last law practice management software are not available. Unable to resolve a problem between Fastersuite and Clio when imputing daily time tickets.

Ease of use and tremendous time savings at a reasonable price.

Pros

For a solo to small law practice, Clio is a wonderful law practice management suite, offering many different features and integrations with third-party products such as FundBox.

Cons

Clio occasionally crashes (about once every ten times) and also does not offer exporting of invoices to Word. This is not a big deal, as I can convert a PDF file to a Word file, edit it, and then reconvert it back to PDF, but it would be nice if I did not have to undertake these steps.

My overall experience with Clio is very good. Again, primarily with the integration aspects of the software. Keeping my law firm trust account in order, as required by the State Bar, is very important to me, Clio helps with that a lot.

Pros

Clio integrates with my law firm bank accounts, credit card and my law firm trust account. As a sole practitioner, I do not need to worry about or hire someone for bookkeeping.

Cons

Clio is probably a little more than I need as a sole practitioner. I came from a larger law firm with numerous attorneys and employees. I know the program and the fact that it integrates with my law firm accounts keeps me as a user.

I wish the workflow task templates could be targeted around a fixed deadline, as for lawyers the due date is usually the first thing we note in out calendars and the work flow gets organized around it

Pros

Clio is the best firm management software. Easy to use. Modern. Integrates easily. I cannot imagine practicing law without Clio; in fact, I don't want to.

Cons

There are no cons to this software. There is no comparison.

Cons

A little expensive and have to upgrade to get all the needed functionality

Pros

I have used different kinds of software in the law practice over the last ten years and Clio is by far the most user friendly.

Cons

Billing is somewhat difficult at times because when you change a setting, it may reset your time entry. This has unfortunately resulted in time that was entered that did not result in payment.

5-Stars! I've been through a massive transition from a CRM to an ERP. It was a miserable experience. With Law Ruler, my experience has been the complete opposite! Having a direct support contact (ours is [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]) makes the transition from Clio to Law Ruler a successful one. Plus he is a great teacher and communicator!

Pros

We love how Law Ruler is BOTH an intake and case management software. Everything under one roof! Plus, the interface is very easy to use! Software is one thing, but the support team is another. The Law Ruler Support Team is incredible!

Cons

Automations and the dialer can take some getting use to.
