Pros

Overall, the best time and billing software out there. I have demo'd several and Clio was the clear winner.
Great support and excellent cloud-based option at a very reasonable price. Glad to see regular improvements and updates, taking user feedback into account.
Great experience, great customer service, easy navigation and the best thing is that Clio keeps working to improve the platform and make it more helpful for us.

Pros

When I have a question, I just type it into the help section and I receive either a phone call or email very promptly. As a solo, this product is amazing and does so much.
Integration with email is awesome and our staff gets a sense that your team is continually improving and adding options which makes it even more exciting.
Having the accounting "internal" for both trust & non trust accounts is a great help in not needing to use Quickbooks, then re-enter/log the checks, costs, details.

Cons

I hate when I am asked for instructions on setting up their client portal because I have no instructions to give them.
This is especially clear in light of its competition, Abacus or AbacusNext or AbacusLaw or whatever other evil derivative product they put out there which is all horrible in my experience.
My client started having trouble uploading her documents to me. Assignments went missing, and so deadlines were missed.

Cons

Until recently, we could live with those glitches. However, the software now refuses to delete emails from my Inbox and the company cannot correct this problem.
It has been one of the worst conversions we have ever experienced.
There isn't much to say in terms of negative content that I personally have experienced.

Clio will never be perfect, but continuously improving is all we can hope for in software anyway

Over five years ago, while still in my first year of solo practice (6 years after first bar admission), I tried another product advertised to work for Mac users and it was a nightmare, so I resolved to try Rocketmatter and Clio; for whatever reason, I found I preferred the look and feel of Clio, and have been with it since. It's the first program I open every day and the last program I shut down when I go home. I am a true solo with no staff support still, and am just now tip-toeing into hiring some staff support - Clio makes it easy for me to use remote support, work-from-home assistants, etc., which is great for keeping the overhead low and the ROI on it high.

Pros

1) There are some known glitches that result from the cloud exchange of data that don't seem to be getting corrected. 2) The UI should be more customizable within the total Clio palette of functions and features. I'm very oriented towards being able to do everything with keystrokes as efficiently as possible, and Clio isn't there yet in its usability. 3) I'm growing increasingly concerned about my...

It's a great product, and essential for out firm. The fact that it integrates with other programs like Zapier makes ti possible to do so much more than you can with other practice management software.

The Clio Suite seamlessly allows your firm to handle all stages of the client-matter life cycle. Whether it's client intake or case management, Clio enables you to work in one location, and comes with more integrations (from email to payments) than those offered by competing platforms.

Pros

Easy to use, and does everything we need to keep our cases moving forward. Integrates well with Google and G-suite products.

Cons

Ease of use and tremendous time savings at a reasonable price.

Pros

For a solo to small law practice, Clio is a wonderful law practice management suite, offering many different features and integrations with third-party products such as FundBox.

Cons

Clio occasionally crashes (about once every ten times) and also does not offer exporting of invoices to Word. This is not a big deal, as I can convert a PDF file to a Word file, edit it, and then reconvert it back to PDF, but it would be nice if I did not have to undertake these steps.

Pros

Good layout, easy to use, manages data well, logical navigation.

Cons

Reporting function is severely limited and only focused on financials. No customer focused reporting on performance, targets or service. Standards suite of reports with no tailoring. Email integration and document storage is convoluted. Calendar is dated and cumbersome.

Narrow view of case management, with dominant practice focus on income rather than client focused priorities.

Pros

Easy to use, quick set up, responsive help. Some capacity to customise fields. Help and onboarding very good.

Cons

Reporting suite is limited to financials. No capacity for client centred success factors. If you just want to know how much money is coming in, then this is for you. If your clients want a broader set of data them limited.

Clio Firm Management Software is GREAT

My firm has a very positive overall experience with Clio. I have recommended other small firms use Clio as their firm management software.

Pros

Clio firm management software is by far the best option available. I use Clio to manage every aspect of my firm's practice. I appreciate Clio's integration abilities with other services, particularly Google G Suite and QuickBooks Online.

Cons

While this is not necessarily a bad thing, some of Clio’s more advanced features, such as document automation, do have a steeper learning curve.

Clio is AMAZING (Abacus is Horrible!)

Clio is absolutely GREAT case management software! This is especially clear in light of its competition, Abacus or AbacusNext or AbacusLaw or whatever other evil derivative product they put out there which is all horrible in my experience . Clio is friendly and helpful whereas Abacus in my experiene was literally hostile and purposefully destructive.

Pros

The software works as it should and is great value for the money.

Cons

Uploading files to store on Clio isn't as useful as uploading to a share drive. Its online cloud isn't recognized easily by MS Office suite and for viewing photos, you can't view large icons all at once on Clio as you can on a share drive.

Great practice management software

I've been very satisfied overall.

Pros

I really appreciate how Clio's design anticipates most of the needs that I have managing my solo practice. I've never experienced issues with it being down or unavailable. The interface is very responsive which is important for making quick notes, checking on individual client questions within a few seconds, and keeping track of hundreds of separate cases. I'm hopeful that the team will continue developing and adding more features in the future.

Cons

I would love for the software to integrate payment reminders and more billing tools in the future. It does have a full suite of billing tools which are great. I think the task management interface could be improved such as updating multiple due dates at once. Otherwise the task features are good.

Our overall experience with Clio has been great. All users are able to access case files and stay up-to-date on what is happening in the firm from new matter creation to tracking work loads and upcoming deadlines. It truly is the one-stop-shop.

Pros

I love the ability to access tasks, calendars, case files and billing in one place. It has been a fantastic tool used by our firm to keep everyone up-to-date on each matter and the current work load. We use Clio with Faster Suite which makes updating files instantaneous.

Cons

One of the drawbacks is the inability to bill expenses only. We work on some matters that are contingency fee arrangements, but the client pays the expenses monthly. In order to process a bill, we have to include billable time. We have found a work around, but it would be easier if we could just bill out expenses.

Review of Clio use and functionality

I have been able to delegate more to my support staff by using the different scheduling and tasking features without giving up on my oversight, since I can verify overdue tasks and completed tasks. Also, my staff has been able to manage my calendar through the case and firm calendar features which allows me to draft more and be able to schedule more hearings. I am in and out of the office most days...

Pros

I like the fact that there are different levels of cost for the need of your business. I started with one user on the lower tier, then moved up to include more options and added a user. I like the fact that not only does it provide billing and payment integration, but, at the time I upgraded, it included the monthly cost to use Law Pay (which I have also found helpful).

Cons

I feel there are some personal preferences I would like to use in my reports viewing and accounting. But there was a recent revamp rolled out a few months ago that did address some of my needs. Admittedly, although I have used the product for almost 4 years now, I have not watched all the tutorial videos or called with all of my specific questions, even though with the boutique package there is a dedicated help line.
