Pros

It has amazing control and flexibility in may areas. It's a powerhouse, integrates with your QB etc

Cons

THERE IS NO PHONE SUPPORT. Yes I read there rational for this and its true that it allowes them to have better support overall. But if you are a new customer or you are making a change and you don't understand something that is essential to your roll out...TOO BAD! You can chat with them and they get back to you within the day but that is no way to have a conversation. We have been stuck trying to get it working for multiple people having multiple cards each with its own policy. We have chatted and over 3 months we have made steady progress....This could all have been avoided with a 1 hr help session...that we would have been happy to pay for. Most people that told me that they use expinsify don't end up staying as at some point its frustrating to wait days or weeks to figure it out over chat

Pros

LOVE how it is to use Expensify! You can categorize every entry and also upload pictures or screen shots of receipts. This feature has been extra handy for all the rideshares covered by my work. It's clear once a report has been submitted to employer, and you can use Expensify for both reimbursing or billing.

Cons

Would love an integrated button in apps (like Uber) to send receipts directly to my Expensify account. This would save me time from doing manual entries, uploading receipts/screenshots, etc., although it's still easy to do. There's also scan receipt option, although I don't always trust the info to be correct, so that's another reason why I stick with manual entries.

Pros

The user interface is intuitive and easy to use, making data entry fast and efficient. In addition, Expensify has an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature that automatically converts receipt images into editable text, saving even more time on manual data entry.

Cons

Sometimes OCR is not completely accurate and requires manual review, which can be a bit tedious. Also, integration with other accounting applications can be somewhat limited.

Overall a Good Tool

The expense reporting feature works great for setting up rules and workflows to get things processed, and keep reports organized. Customer services response time is great, and everyone seems very helpful and friendly! Only disappointment was the function for categorizing credit card transactions is a bit of a pain (especially if you make a variety of different purchases from a company like Amazon and are constantly re-classifying them). We actually stopped using this feature of the tool because it took longer to do our monthly credit card reporting in Expensify than it did on an excel spreadsheet that we would upload to QuickBooks. Overall it's a good tool that I would recommend for employee expense reporting!

This isn't something that we hear a lot of complaints about so I am wondering if there is something we could do to help you streamline this process. Without knowing more about your specific use case I want to bring your attention to our Help page has a few options for troubleshooting: http://help.expensify.com/rules/. In short, you can: edit categories directly from the Expenses page. Select a category right when capturing receipt images on our mobile app. Use Expense Rules to pre-assign categories to different merchants. This wouldn't address the Amazon use case, but for merchants that are always categorized the same, (such as restaurants) this will automatically apply categories for you. Great for tracking your expenses for work

Pros

Overall I think this product is great for tracking expenses for my work. Its easy to track with pictures of receipts and easy to add any additional information. The app is easy to use (mostly) for tracking things when you are on the go.

Cons

I find it hard when submitting a monthly expense report to the office manager, that its difficult to submit one via the app. Most of the time I will have to get on the website and create a report and submit it that way. Not a huge inconvenience for me but it could be for others who are on the go and traveling a lot.

Makes expense management a (somewhat) pleasant experience

Snappy performance and modern features for expense management.

Pros

For any software that requires tedious entry and categorization of items, the key is performance. Expensify meets the bill, both with the website and mobile application. Creating reports, adding expenses, navigation is all very fast. Expensify autosaves all report activity which is a lifesaver if you accidentally close the site or mobile app. Smartscan allows you to take a photo of the receipt and Expensify will scan the photo and auto-populate categories. This saves SO much time compared to having to scan receipts and upload them.

Cons

It would be nice to have more integrations with other travel systems, i.e. travel booking systems, ride share applications, hotel chains. The smartscan feature is hit or miss, sometimes it picks up all the information and other times nothing gets auto-filled. You also can't combine receipts in the same smartscan, i.e. two taxi receipts don't get totaled together. Smartscan also isn't great at understanding foreign currencies, this sometimes makes for amusing reports.

Easy to use expense software that you can only appreciate it if you've used anything else.

Really the only way to appreciate Expensify is to use any other expense software. You'll quickly realize just how much time is saved with this little app. I can expense on the fly, before I even walk out of the store, with just a matter of clicks.

Pros

Simple. Easy to use. Automated receipt scanning. Automated categorization, with smart features that learns from your changes and preferences. Works on multiple platforms, although the mobile app is the most useful. Submit and edit expenses anytime, anywhere. I've yet to come across anything else that works as well. This will save you time and money, and most importantly help your employees maintain their sanity while filing accurate expenses.

Cons

The "smart scanning" of receipts was very buggy a year ago, but seems to work fairly well now. In the past I avoided it and entered everything manually, instead of trying to spot the mistakes. The only issues I seem to run into now is when a vendor doesn't list their name at the top of the receipt or in large/bold letters. It will often pick up something else like the address as the business name. It's pretty easy to spot though.

An Easy Way to Track Your Expenses

Overall, the experience is pretty good. I was using something else and that stopped being developed, so now I use this and I will likely not be switching because I didn't find anything better in the "freemium" realm of products that do this.

Pros

Expenses come in and need to be accounted for. You need a quick and easy way to get them out of your inbox, wallet, credit card statement, etc. and onto a cloud platform. So, in short, Expensify does what it's purports to do: it tracks expenses. There are also a lot of other features that I don't use, so it likely can be as robust as you want it to be. I use my account very simply. It's nice, too, to be able to track mileage.

Cons

I think there are too many clicks required to get to the entering. It's easy enough and quick enough, but it could be easier and quicker. I would like there to be a more simplified interface for people that don't need to use all the bells and whistles.

Can't compete with new kids on the block

It just doesn't compete with new expense reporting systems that have awesome new features, are free, and have great UX.

Pros

Not much now that I found an alternative expense reporting system for my company. Expensify was great when there was little other competition. The price was more reasonable than others. The receipt matching was decent, and it was awesome to have it integrated with Quickbooks to reduce financial admin.

Cons

It is very clunky and slow. It would take forever to pull reports, make changes, or create pdfs. It is also expensive in comparison to new kids on the block that are more feature rich with advanced technology that are free.

This is a Required App for Those who Travel or are Accountable for their Business Expenses

I was first introduced to this software while working for another company. We were expected to use it for all of our expenses and submit our reports with it each month. It made this process so simple and frankly, I would have lost track of my expenses if I hadn't had it. I loved it so much I continued to use it when I started my own business. It makes accounting for your expenses extremely easy.

Pros

It's super easy to track your receipts during travel or at anytime really. You just scan your receipt with your smartphone, enter the amount, choose the account or category and you're good to go.

Cons

There isn't anything bad to say about this software. It works great and saves so much time and frustration because you are tracking everything as you go, while you are thinking about it.

Overall Expensify has made expense tracking and financial reporting much more streamlined. The platform is very user friendly for all of our employees.

Pros

What I like most about Expensify is its seamless integration with Quickbooks Online and its excellent customer support. Whenever I have contacted their support via chat I have received a response in less than 5 minutes, and my issues is resolved quickly and easily.

Cons

It would be helpful if the email receipts function was improved to allow for easy receipt submission.

Easy to use, a little bit of effort to implement, average on support.

Pros

The mobile app version makes expensify the easiest way to manage and code company expenses. Our company card holders were able to be trained on expensify in one 15 minute training session, and never had to ask for help or support internally.

Cons

It took some time to set up and integrate with our ERP (Netsuite). We also had an issue with Bank of America that was hard to navigate, but we found out that it wasn't on Expensify's side.

Submit reports easily with Expensify

Pros

Great tool for submitting expenses. Pretty easy and intuitive to use, the interface is built the way and it gives hints and tips where/what to fill. I also love the view when you can see all submitted resorts and their status, moreover, email notifications make it easy to always stay up-to-day about any changes made to your report. Another great thing is that you can use it on desktop as well as on your mobile phone, make document photos/scans in a ​couple of seconds and attach them to the report.

Cons

It would be better if "Generate PDF" and "Add documents" would have the icons that clearly show​ the functions, faced a couple of times with the issue when I need to attach the file, but clicked "Generate PDF" button instead

Straightforward Expense System

Very positive. It's a very easy to use expense system. I access the system often to make sure my expenses are complete with correlated information and receipt attachment. I can quickly populate details on the move.

Pros

I access Expensify on a regular basis both on my work laptop and mobile phone (via app). Due to my company's expense policy, it's key to keep tabs on various monthly expenses and ensure they are submitted in a timely manner. Via the mobile app, I add expenses throughout work travel to ensure everything in captured along the way. This way, I avoid missing anything as well as avoid the last minute scramble to submit. To further optimize, I plan to directly link my business-dedicated credit card to have seamless integration.

Cons

The smartscan is quite slow to read receipt pictures and tends to hold up process. Therefore, I usually manually submit each of my expenses.

Company wide uniform Expense tracking. The benefit we realized is that with Expensify we can streamline generating and processing expense reports.

Pros

Expensify is a great tool for keeping track of business expenses, whether your dining out, traveling, or paying for a place to stay. Expensify has features that makes this process easy. Expensify streamlines data entry with smart capture capabilities. Customizable tags so users can categorize expenses in a way that makes sense to them. Also, can visually see the cost breakdown on your dashboard. Capture mileage with a GPS tracker takes out the hard word of calculating yourself. This also makes sure you get an accurate result. You can create invoices to anyone even if they do not have an Expensify account. Automate when you want reports generated (daily, weekly, etc). Connect your credit card/bank account and automatically pull in transactions. Overall, Expensify does a great job and is very affordable.

Cons

Usually, with a product with many features, the likely problem is usually that the UI is a little hard to use at first. There is a learning curve to the product. Sometimes I have issues with the smart scan but that could be caused by my cell phone camera.

The tool is good, but tech support and actual customer service is so lacking that we switched tools.

Pros

The product is good. It's flexible, easy for users to adopt, and it's available on multiple platforms.

Cons

We have had two issues over time that have required tech support from Expensify. Both times the issues were ultimately not resolved. The company has tried to automate tech support in a way that eliminates the ability to talk to an actual person. Ultimately, we decided to migrate away from Expensify to a platform that provides better support.

I love the ability to manage all of my expenses on the go. No more shoving receipts into my pockets with the hope that I will be able to find them later. Quickly snap images of all expenses and have the application automatically add the info into a personalized expense report.

Perfect Tool to track expenses

Expensify is the right tool if you want a simple yet effective tool to keep a trace of your expenses and receipts. It's very useful for professional and personal use.

Pros

I've been using Expensify for many years now to keep track of my monthly expenses and get a full and proper report for our accountant. Expensify offers few but essential options, even with the free version. You upload receipts from your cellphone, get them scanned and their information automatically filled within Expensify. The reports are clear and complete. Overall, it does exactly what you would expect from such a tool.

Cons

Some options are "hidden" and not easy to find in the first place, making the tool acting strangely. For example, last year, at some point, without doing anything on my part, my reports were automatically closed and sent to my manager before they were completed. I had to go and change the settings in a part of the options I've never used/seen before. After that, all was good though.

It helps me manage my clients spend from receipt scanning and expense management to paying bills and booking travelling

Pros

I love the fact that it tracks employees business expenses easily. It has a great UI for users like me and it's easy to manage. Am able to submit and approve expense reports especially when my clients are traveling. It offers a self-service setup with dedicated support making my job easier

Cons

Its customer service only favours large companies bt small businesses or self-employed like me we can only receive support through chat or mail. So it is challenging when something complex needs to change

Works well for the frequent traveler

The software is adequate but I really do not appreciate when company leaders involved their political opinions onto their customers. The [SENSITIVE CONTENT] letter ahead of the last election was at best inappropriate.

Pros

Expenses can be added on the fly and then accumulated in a report submittal. This greatly simplifies the submittal process for a frequent traveler. Expense capture via app is key to be sure I am reimbursed for all my expenses

Cons

Company rules dictate how expenses are flagged / approved. Even with approvals these out of rule expenses can get hung up. This has caused me to resubmit expenses several times with absolutely no transparency as to what the real issue is

Makes life so easy

I love Expensify I take care of a bunch of IT guys and to explain when they are new on how to do things right they catch on and makes life easy

that I can type in multiple receipts at the same time, that travel is easily documented
