Harvest is Great for Time Tracking and Project Management

2019-02-01

I prefer this tool over Toggl because it allows for hourly budgets and sends me a notificatoin when I get to a certain limit.

Pros

I really love that Harvest allows you to set hourly budget allowances per project. This allows me to see the bigger picture and make sure that I don't go over hourly budgets.

Cons

It was a little confusing importing information from Toggl via CSV but that could've been user error on my behalf.

Harvest is good but there are cheaper options

2019-04-15

Pros

This program is good for tracking time and expenses.

Cons

I do think there are other cheaper programs such as Toggl that probably do the same thing with a little less functionality.

Harvest is awesome!

2019-03-13

For time-tracking specifically, we found it better than other platforms such as Toggl. The user experience is super simple and it's got great reporting.

Pros

Harvest takes minutes to set it up and is so user-friendly, user adoption happened incredibly quickly. It was the fastest program our team adopted compared with other solutions. Firstly, the platform is accessible through multiple devices ranging from web to desktop to browser extension to mobile app to integrations with Jira. Everyone is different and the platform adapts to almost everyone's needs. Secondly, as an admin, I can go in, add users, add projects, add tasks, classify tasks as billable or non-billable, and add a bill rate if applicable. Thirdly, the platform can set reminders and people self-manage. Each week, I get everyone's timesheets on the dot, I review them, send them back if they need more information, and focus on analyzing data instead of trying to get everyone to give me updates. I love the project view because I can see where we are spending money, where we aren't, and where we need to shift resources accordingly. It's even great for reimbursements - you just snap a photo and add can add the item via the mobile app.

Cons

As a digital agency, we don't always bill by hourly rate or fixed firm price. Some of our clients are on monthly retainers which sadly Harvest doesn't include. It's not a deal breaker for us, but it's something that would be nice to have.

Easy to use, Intuitive

2016-10-15

Harvest is not the only time tracking tool we've used (also used Toggl), however, it's one that is intuitive and easy to get started using quick with very little effort.

Saved me so much time and effort

2019-04-18

I used Harvest for a couple years when doing contract work. It connected straight to my Stripe account and helped me get my money in my bank account painlessly.

Pros

I love that it integrates directly with Stripe and Toggl and all kinds of other services.

Cons

I can't think of a single complaint! I was never a heavy user though. I was only ever sending an invoice each month on average.

Easy to use, but could stand more features

2019-03-06

We ended up switching to Harvest, but I would have preferred Toggl if we didn't need more features.

Pros

The visual reports are really helpful and the system is easy to get started in fast.

Cons

There is no way to track contractor payments or to send invoices from the system.

Falls short for an Agency Usecase

2017-07-20

I wish I kept with Harvest, it was way better.

Pros

+ It hooks up to zapier so you can automate some time tracking which is nice. + its available on all the platforms & has a dedicated desktop app that can track idle time.

Cons

Its expensive in comparison to other time tracking tools that also do other functions The reports & analytics are not intuitive or fast. The biggest problem is that you can start a timer on your desktop & then start a different one on your mobile device... then when you want to stop the timer, it is device specific. That is VERY annoying. If you switch the device that you are using to track the time, then you're definitely going to need to edit the times manually. The iOS app is also one of the worst UXs I've ever seen from an app. Biggest reason is because the auto-complete for the tasks requires the description added to the Tasks. Is rather confusing to explain over text... but there are way better ways to have achieved time tracking ... a list view of every project & task is not the best way to go.

Easy to use time tracking

2018-07-05

Pros

Toggl has a free version for a limited number of users, so a great option for a small business that's trying out time tracking software

Cons

The functionality is not as great as other paid alternatives (Harvest). I'd like the ability to switch between users on the main screen so I can see real time what my employees are running their timers for.

Easy to use, easy to understand, friendly looking

2018-06-18

Friendly surface, easy to use.

Pros

I had to use this software last year and I liked very much, especially diagrams, which are easy understandable. Summary report is also very simple and transparent.

Cons

Nowadays I have to use Harvest, which surface is a bit better and reporting is a bit easier.
