Patriot Payroll vs RUN Powered by ADP Comparison

I have decided to give Patriot software a go after using ADP Run. Patriot is easy to use and cost-efficient. ADP is a rip-off, compared to ADP - Patriot is charging less than 1/3rd a month.

An app will be great. But it's not a deal breaker for my company

Because the software is online, you don't have to waste any of your phone's precious memory or worry about updates!

Having transitioned from ADP, I have found Patriot software to be easy to run payroll, submit taxes to state and federal authorities, and track activities.

Direct deposits require running the payroll several days before the end of the pay period, so I have to watch the calendar carefully.

Cheaper than ADP.

They charge per check per payroll to print and mail it.

With our online payroll software, customers can run as many payrolls for their employees as they want in a given month without and additional charge. You can easily print the checks directly from our software or use our free direct deposit. We don't now (or have we ever) printed and mailed paychecks on behalf of our customers.

This software is amazing and easy to use . I have a small company and its so easy to input employee information .

Even with the upgrade price is lower than ADP.

Direct deposit has not functioned for me so far I have to write a manual check.

Our primary reason for choosing Patriot was the MUCH lower cost as compared to ADP. The initial company setup was very intuitive and any questions/issues were quickly addressed/solves through the Chat feature. Patriot's various reports are extremely valuable when it comes time to file the various tax forms. The Direct Deposit feature for both W-2 employees and 1099 Contractors saves us the cost and aggravation of generating/mailing paper checks.

We pay our staff twice a month. The 4-business day lead time to process Direct Deposits occasionally trips me up especially if the pay date is near a banking holiday.

To generate a payroll period, it is straight forward. I appreciate the fact of Patriot taking care of the tax filings. I also appreciated that they automatically added the FFCRA paid leave and paid FLMA leave . I greatly appreciate their customer service personnel. They appear to train them well and are actually helpful either knowing the answer/solution or will inquire with a supervisor to get an answer if at all possible. If not, they are great in following up with an answer or simply responding that they are still researching.

Navigating through reports could be improved by having a link on every report window to go back to the Report menu rather than having to use the side menu bar. When navigating EE time cards, it would be nice to have the dates appear at the top of the page as you scroll down to enter other hours to ensure you are entering on the correct day. I would prefer EE timecards would open to the pay period...

Very user friendly for running payroll and straight forward

If you don't put funds on deposit then payroll has to be run 4 "banking" days before direct deposit.

Value of the service is the best feature.

I really dislike how they are not integrated properly with QBO like it was with ADP

Ease of us and low learning curve, exceptional customer service, and no complicated processes like ADP

There was nothing about this service that I didn’t enjoy.

It has an intuitive, easy-to-use interface. And whenever there is an issue, customer service takes care of the problem quickly, professionally, and kindly.

I would've said that having too pay extra for 1099 contractors was an issue, but I believe they changed this. Now the only thing I wish is that I could run payroll on either Tuesday or Wednesday, the way I used to with ADP. Not that big of a deal though.

Costs are much less than ADP or QuickBooks payroll. The same compliance. Great customer service. More options for small business needs.

Payroll must be run on Monday for Friday's payroll. Other companies can be processed by Wednesday or even Thursday, but not Patriot. If a holiday is on a Monday, the payroll has to be run on previous week.

I USED ADP FOR AWHILE AND I DO LIKE THIS SOFTWARE MUCH BETTER. VERY EASY TO USE AND QUICK.

It's free! After a variety of headaches using ADP, the Patriot platform is easier to use and less cumbersome.

Nothing comes to mind. The platform is easy to use and intuitive.

Super easy to use, and had all the functions that I needed. The price is great, about half of ADP.

The required funds to be deposited time period is a little too long, for Friday's payday, if you process the payroll on Monday, then you need to deposit money on Monday. In comparison my ADP account I can deposit money by Thursday to make Friday's payday.

I have not had to call support to help facilitate payroll. With my previous service, I had to call every pay period to ask for assistance as their software was NOT user friendly.

The only issue I had was that I had to manually onboard because they do not onboard from ADP.

It's extremely easy to use and I can get my payroll done in record time. Their tech support is fabulous. It's NOT expensive at all!

Nothing! There's nothing that I don't like about this software.

My small business has tried a variety of software payroll providers such as ADP or Paychex but somehow felt that they are not serving the needs of small business while patriot software has that right mix of cost and features which provides good value for a small business which does not want to deal with payroll laws but want to just run it quickly and get back to business.

I like the ease of use and user-friendly interface and dashboard.

I think that the timeline when processing payroll isn't as advantageous to small businesses as more expensive options like ADP can be. Although it's not as costly as ADP it required payroll to be funded about a week ahead of check dates which can be challenging for a new, small field service company.

Easy to use software for small businesses without needing a dedicated accountant, or having to go with expensive options like ADP who take a larger cut.

Prices are a little on the high side for a smaller business, but cheaper than higher end payroll software . Not as easy to use as quickbooks.

Patriot is really a good option to the big payroll companies. It is easy to use, easily customizable and you don't have to pay for things you aren't going to use!

It's a really simple software - I'm not an accountant, I'm more of a creative. Patriot really does everything for us so I don't have to think about it too much. My accountant can log in as a user and make sure things are going well and give me tips or make changes when needed. They also can import right to our P/L statement.

I have to hit "run payroll" to get to the dashboard right now. Not sure if that's a user problem unique to me, but I'd rather just go to the dashboard by default.

Ease of use. Easy setup. Great customer service. You can't beat the price. With ADP and Paychex costing 2-3 times more, this is truly the way to go.

I've been using Patriot Software since the beginning of the year. I have not found any cons as of yet.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the ADP payroll service. I've used many of the payroll services on the market (ADP, Paycheck, Heartland, Patriot). I think ADP is one of the better ones. The reporting interface is super easy to use, and their direct deposit is the best among competitors. By that, I mean the required deposit dates, in order to make payroll processing, you just need 1 day in advance to get the money ready in your account, everyone else need minimum 3 days.

One of the pricer options among competitors. I ran weekly payroll for 8 - 10 employees, with a big discount, it costs me about $75-$90 per payroll. in comparison, Patriot only costs around $65 per month (4-5 payrolls)! One other thing to consider is (this is true to all payroll service companies), that your salesperson probably won't be there for too long, other words, once they sign you up, they will pretty much disappear, good luck getting any support from them, every time you ask for help, they'll just refer to customer service 800 number. it makes you feel like, you're on your own.

We were able to do this and have payroll ready for direct deposit on time and also the reminder for payroll worked just great for us

What I like most is that ADP customer support treats me like the professional that I am. I have often called with what I thought was a horrible mistake or emergency and they are always able to help me immediately. They are very good at teaching me to help myself as well.

What I like least is that I have to actually take time to learn to use some of the report features. Once I learn how to use the tool it is a wonderful experience.

The setup of the payroll was time consuming but with perseverance made it through. The First payroll no direct deposits came through

Actual payroll processing and data entry of employees and payroll is easy.

I had payroll tax issues that were not resolved by customer service, and in fact were made worse, causing a fine and back taxes.

There are many pros but the biggest is it saves our company time. The system is very easy to use as well as on the go from my mobile device.

The only con about the service is running a special payroll. I was not aware of the fee associated with a special payroll.

It is very easy to find what you are looking for. It is rate that I need to call for support because I can usually figure out what I need to do.

The only con I came across so far is that here is a Limit on Payroll Deduction fields. If they increase that, it would be perfect.

This product was east to use and self explanatory.

We had to pay per payroll we ran. So if we had to run a pay run to get one person a bonus check, it cost us additional money. Our new payroll provider charges per month, with unlimited payroll runs.

We have clients on ADP payroll and logging into Run is easy and quick when trying to pull reports. The local ADP reps are also great.

If you need a full service payroll this is a great choice. There are less expensive options if you just need straight forward payroll.

Monthly and quarterly reports are thorough and helpful. Payroll has never been late.

sometimes editing payroll- a change isn't as easy.

Can use from anywhere, don't have to have my computer with me. It is easy to add overtime hours and also additional tax information

Menu is sometimes confusing when I am looking to run some reports. I can't always run pay stubs, I think it has to do with pop ups blocked but customer service has helped me.

IT IS EASY TO USE AND ECONOMICAL. IT AUTOMATICALLY CALCULATES AND LETS ME KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IN ORDER TO CONTROL MY PAYROLL.

Can't change it once you have submitted payroll. If I make a mistake in payroll, then it is really a bid deal on getting it corrected.
