Pros

It's a user friendly service with great customer care, wonderful service if u have a small business.
Fields to fill and perfectly links the data from one end like ap and AR to the bank reconciliation. Great reports on transactions for the month or period if interest.
We love that it helps us streamline efforts, is easy to use, and is easy to train others on. QuickBooks Online has definitely been one of the best technology pieces of our administration.

Pros

I feel more confident that there will be less or no glitches in reprots. The customer service is excellent and the training has been very helpful.
In the best ways possible, I feel like I'm contributing to their success as they endeavor to ensure mine in support of the mission of my congregation.
I feel that the way the software helps with communication is great. I like that I am able to send emails as well as text messages to everyone in the database help with time management.

Cons

This is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable from the company that is supposed to have your books.
The problem is that doing your own taxes online becomes risky the more you have to account for.
Other than tracking my expenditures, the whole system is a pain. Error messages constantly received because "there's a message from your bank" bla bla bla.

Cons

The layout of the software is terrible, and everyone required multiple trainings on how to do the simplest tasks such as workflows, new entries, and more.
There has been an error with the Elexio Checkscanner utility and print-driver for the Canon CR-50 check scanner that I brought up 16 months ago, and it still has not been fixed.
Still a little trouble navigating the database and doing the things I need to do for my job but learning things all the time.

I have been using QBO for more than 1 year, and I haven't faced any problems with it. Simple software, great support, almost everything is under control, and lots of side apps to broaden the usage of it. For example, to import transactions into QuickBooks Online, I use Business Importer. And so on and so on! And I like the community around the app!

Pros

Simplicity and flexibility, customer services, community, a wide range of side apps to integrate

Cons

Several times I couldn't work, because of technical problems, but not for too long

I used Quickbooks for a few months for my small marketing agency. I can see why it's so popular - it does a lot of things well, and isn't particularly bad at anything. However, I found Xero to handle multi-currency a lot better, and Xero allows you to integrate with both Stripe and Paypal. With Quickbooks you're limited to their payment services. If their promos lasted more than 6 months, I think it'd be a pretty compelling offer. But at full price, I think Xero is worth the extra investment... or use Wave, which is free.

Pros

- Good interface - An active community - A lot of accountants familiar with it - Good feature set

Cons

- Only OK at handling multi-currency - Promo discounts only last 6 months - No native Paypal integration

Cons

Data Export in Excel is not formatted correctly. Invoice/Estimate template customization options are limited.

QuickBooks does seem like one of the leaders in the quadrant, and has a big community. But it lacks some convenient "customer facing" features such as online payments.

Pros

It does have a wide variety of useful features, and auditors love it! It's got a big community, and you'll never be left alone. Features are also highly customizable for your needs. If money is not an issue, it's really a great choice!

Cons

No online payments for QuickBooks, one of the leaders in the quadrant. This came to me as a surprise really. Also, the pricing on the website looked cheap with the cheapest plan. But you're out of luck if you wanna do recurring invoices. You need to pay the most expensive plan for that!

Frequently updated; easy to add invoices, sales receipts, or bills. Syncs with other software such as Bill.com. Easy to use and to search FAQ/QBO community forums for advice.

Cons

There's no good system in Quickbooks Online for tracking inventory. Also, the sign-in for Quickbooks Online requires authentication each time you sign in (which is frustrating when I have to enter a code every 15 minutes while I'm at work all day).

It has been ok until you have to talk to support with an issue. If you have an issue you need help with, good luck.

Pros

most people know how to use it and so its easier to onboard or find people with experience.

Cons

support is absolutely terrible. I have never gotten an issue resolved. The support team is not knowledgeable at all. Bugs and issues remain forever. Community posts presenting the same problem remain unresolved. I would not recommend going with quickbooks.

The quickbooks online version of accounting for small businesses is an essential tool for success.

When reading reviews or searching for answers in the intuit community - be sure to check the post dates. If they are older than 2015 - consider it an old issue and look for more current details.

Pros

My favorite part of quickbooks online is the download from bank accounts, credit card accounts and 3rd party payment processors. As a long time quickbooks user from its early desktop days, the integration of financial information shared with accountants makes any difficulty in moving to quickbooks online so worth it! No more accountant copies, no more waiting for someone else to finish so you can do what you need to.

Cons

The sales report for sales by product summary shows percentage of sales out to the thousandth decimal point - really distracting. There are some differences in how information is reported that when compared to the desktop means for many old school accountants the reports may not appear accurate. HOWEVER - for general businesses - this is a non-issue. The general rule is be consistent.

It has a wide range of features that are helpful for small businesses, thus it meets their needs. The manufacturer's assistance is supplemented by a large user community and base of installations. The system can be used effectively even by infrequent users.

Pros

Estimates, invoices, bank transactions, money received, payments made, and bills paid are all managed with QuickBooks Online. We can also provide financial reports to gauge our progress and provide insight into future job volume patterns.

Cons

There isn't anything I don't like about Quickbooks Online thus far. It's a basic program, but it does what it's supposed to. In my opinion, extra features are unnecessary.

Overall it has been pretty straightforward unless I make an error somewhere.

Pros

It is still the o to for most tax advisors and CPA so I use it for my business. It has many features, sometimes too many. It has a huge community online of people helping answer your questions and navigating through it.

Cons

Sometimes it get a bit too complicated to do one simple task, such as when you delete a transaction that you already processed (duplicate) and throws off your whole register and will not let you reconcile easily.

I have my books on Quickbooks and that's about the only thing they've solved. Anything the least bit sophisticated, forget about it. And I've likely wasted more time dealing with the problems and issues they created than if I would have done everything by hand.

Pros

This software is fairly inexpensive, ubiquitous throughout the business community, so you would think it would be great! The automated stuff is good when it works, and the system is complex but it's fairly easy to learn the basics and add on knowledge as you go forward.

Cons

There remain a lot of bugs in their system and processes they never seem to get right. They change the software all the time, so each time you go looking for something, it's been moved. The WORST part of this software and this company is their inability to actually provide proper support. I had a situation where a rep really messed up my account and it has become an enormous time suck and issue trying...

Skip the online version and get the desktop one instead!

Probably the best accounting software on the planet however if you had to choose between the online vs the desktop version--trust me and get the desktop one! Hope this helps :)

Pros

This is probably the best accounting software I have ever used. Even if you have ZERO accounting experience, you'll be able to navigate the basic features of this software. There's also a massive community that uses QuickBooks so if you have any questions, more likely than not, it has been answered by someone. Honestly, you can't go wrong...

Cons

That said.... if you ask me--SKIP the online version and get the desktop one instead!!! While you will pay a larger portion upfront, the software is yours, and you do not have to put up with annoying monthly billing. Unless what you're doing requires the software to be the latest version (which is usually not the case for the majority of small businesses out there), go right for the desktop one. This is what my CA accountant recommended to me at the time of purchase and a year later I am not regretting a thing.

starting to like it after rough transition from QB Desktop for Mac

Allow plenty of time to learn the new ways to do familiar tasks if you are importing a file from another QB platform. Everything appeared to transfer properly (Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet for all dates were unchanged), which was the scariest part. Still learning after five months.

Pros

Basic functions are pretty simple--once you get used to them. Bank and credit card feeds and matching feature are helpful and can save time, again once you understand how they work. Deducting daily Square fees from each deposit is easier and faster than with the Mac version. QuickBooks Community is helpful, as are the tutorials. Payroll works pretty similarly to the Mac version. Cost is about the same.

Cons

Miscommunication between Intuit and TechSoup (discounted software for nonprofits) dragged out the transition for several months, complicated by our already having an account with Intuit Payroll for Mac. Rather steep learning curve. The bookkeeper we work with told us QBO isn't good for managing inventory and cost of goods sold, which would be very helpful. May give it a try anyway because it may be better than the spreadsheet we use now. Wish it had a sales by item summary report like QB for Mac. The closest sales report is not at all well organized, mostly listing items alphabetically instead of grouping all sales locations together. Does not support wallet-style checks, which use 1/3 less paper than the voucher styles. QB for Mac did.

Good Balance of Ease and Flexibility for Non-advanced Users

Pros

- As a single-member S-Corp consulting business, QuickBooks Online was more than enough for me to manage my own finances and payroll. It's extremely friendly for non-accountants. - At the end of the year, you will easily find many certified QuickBook accountants who can do your business taxes by simply inviting them to your account - Large community with many Q&A available in their public forums....

Cons

- I was unhappy that they somewhat made it a hassle to reach support by making it available via phone only. With busy schedule, I appreciate writing my inquiries via email and forget about them to focus on my other tasks. QuickBooks Online forces you to call support by phone for inquiries - I believe their pricing needs to be updated with rise of competition, especially for payroll features.

Leaving After 15 Years Of Use

I have been using Quickbooks for 15 years and honestly it was all great up until about a year ago. And the only reason I kept using Quickbooks was because I didn't feel like transferring all my data to another platform and the mobile app. However, now the mobile app doesn't even work so I never use it, I am having to talk to a representative every other time I use Quickbooks because something else...

Pros

I love that I can manage my books, invoices, payments, etc. from any device. I loved that in theory everything was connected and easy to use (more on this in the cons), I love the wide support and the massive community that uses Quickbooks so it was possible to find help on issues I had (not easy, but possible). Plus, I had been using them for so long it was all familiar.

Cons

- The customer service is terrible (I've had 1 good rep out of the 10-20 I've had to talk to) - The app hardly works at all for me anymore, its always crashing, glitching, freezing, etc. - The connections barely work and need fixing all the time - The website is incredibly slow and also has a lot of bugs - By far the worst for me has been the Quickbooks Cash and merchant services. Fees have been going up, Quickbooks cash has been VERY slow and buggy, transfers have taken a week or more to process, customer service with that is TERRIBLE, just overall a very bad experience. - Now monthly fees are going up yet again - I've been getting charged more and more fees for moving money or even just trying to refund someone

I love that it keeps my companies express organized and easy for tax season to be able to go back and look at. I can also easily move stuff around if I need to and create new categories.

Pros

I like that it easy to install and asks you questions in order to set up your profile for your company. I like that you can go to live chat on the side and also questions when you need help and ask a live customer support person or look at questions already answered through a community. I like how it’s broken down in all forms to look at like profit and loss, expense reports, taxes, etc

Cons

What i think could use work is in the invoice creation and having more tutorial or step by step when first installing and logging in as new user

DON'T DO IT!!!! ITEMS AND FEATURES still broken after four years.

Horrible.The complaints are all over the community page. A strong product manager could easily see the threads of complaints over the last four years and prioritize customer needs appropriately. QB is not a current customer focused business. I have never been more frustrated with an app this much in my entire career. We have incorrect data being posted from timesheets to payroll. We have reports with inaccurate data. We have reported this multiple times. Again, another ticket open with likely no resolve.

Pros

If your business is simple and you don't plan to need to do anything in bulk, the UI is pretty simple to follow. That is about all I can say positive.

Cons

Here are some basic things customers complain about that are still not fixed in QB Online.1. Project Costing is INACCURATE, payroll data doesn't show correctly. Can print a transaction report because it will show the whole bill for a vendor not just the costs applied to that specific project. Same with showing a whole paycheck instead of just the cost to that project.2. Can't print a bill3. Product...

Quickbooks helps keep my small business finances in check with features both simple enough for me to use and robust enough for my CPA to help with during tax season. I cannot imagine going back to manual invoicing, expense, and profit/loss tracking.

Pros

Quickbooks integrates with most other small business software out there that has any sort of financial functionality. Categorizing and tracking expenses, invoices, and customer history is pretty easy. Reports are readily available and clear to interpret and automatically updated. Most all Tax professionals are familiar with the software so your CPA or tax preparer can tell you exactly what quickbooks documents they need when it’s tax time. There is also a robust online community that will help if you run into issues.

Cons

Categorizing expenses, splitting invoices, and marking transactions can sometimes be clunky and more difficult than it feels it should be. Doing anything more than basic tasks usually requires a google search to figure out, but there is extensive documentation and tutorials / guides exist for nearly everything you’d want to do.

Biggest bang for your buck!

I have completely loved using Elexio for our church database, and I have tried a bunch of them! Our experience with Elexio compared to other cloud-based services has been amazing! It can function as simply or with as much complexity as your church requires. As a church planter, the beginning stages are easy on our budget, and will grow as we do. It's also great the way the software expands to meet our continually changing needs. I highly reccomend!

Pros

Great, easy-to use, expandable interface.

Cons

The inability to use a different online giving merchant account. We had to switch to their proprietary system.

There is so much - my 10 hour coaching package was nowhere near enough. I am definitely not using it to it's full ability - there is just a lot. I am disappointed that I cannot link to the Elexio calendar through our website.
