I have used Square in both retail and restaurant settings and implemented the e-commerce website with both sectors. Square was able to accomplish 95% of our goals and they are constantly improving. The new sales terminals are amazing too
Square is an awesome piece of software to use. The retail side has great capabilities for sales, inventory, gift cards, rewards, and much much more. It even does appointments. On the food side it does a very nice job with menus.
The companion e-commerce website features are not as nice as Shopify. I think with some improvement on e-commerce, they would be unbeatable.

I love square! Essential for businesses on the go. I especially love how quickly it processes and how it can speak with Shopify, our e-commerce platform.
The wireless connectivity to an iPad can sometimes be tricky, leading to the readers not working efficiently.

It has been great, have used both mobile payments and web integration through woo commerce and both have been fantastic.
It is fast, easy and secure. The reporting is great.
The integration with woo commerce could be better. I wish the report listed the item purchased instead of simply custom amount.

We use Square to integrate with our e-commerce site. It allows us to sell our products in person, while also keeping our inventory up to date with our e-commerce website. We are able to take payment via the card reader in person.
Somewhat costly equipment (only a one time cost) Inventory management is a little cumbersome to set up

Square has allowed me to take sales no matter where I am at as long as I have my phone and adapter. I can also type in the card number if needed.
Square is simple to set up, simple to use. You can use it as just a way to take payments or you can do so much more with it like create a website for your goods! You can customize what type of payments you take, whether or not to automatically add sales tax or discounts, and so much more!
Building an e-commerce website through square is a little bit difficult. It isn't super user friendly. Hopefully this will improve soon!

This is a great option if you don’t have a lot of processing volume and if you don’t want to be locked into a contract.
2.75% is higher than PayPal or other similar processors.

Good service and better than paypal.
I use and still use paypal but they have way to many fees. Square doesn't have fees for the service I use outside the transaction charge. It integrates into your website for free! Paypal charges like $30 a month for that service or more.
I wish there was an option to pay for the service per month rather than a transaction charge. Let me explain...instead of paying 2.75% per transaction there could be an option to pay a monthly charge which would be less in the aggregate.

Easy to use for accepting payments. Plugs in for swiping cards and accepts manual entries.
Works the same as PayPal reader and app. Nothing new here.

Overall, I prefer square any day over stripe and PayPal payments.
Love live square. Love that it can be used for both in store and online payments. It sync with my quickbooks which saves me a whole lot of time. It gives detail daily reports which includes best seller of the day, number of sales, number of products sold and what type of product sold, taxes paid, types of payment the customers used, plus it syncs with my online store inventory. Square gives you all the detail info you never realized you need till you need it all in one place. So easy to use and tailored for retailers. Love the Apple Pay feature too.
My big con with square integration is it doesn’t sync well with bigcommerce. By that I mean, my online sales gets imported as a custom order so there is no itemized list of what the customers bought. Also with bigcommerce, there is no way for me to take Apple Pay or other digital wallet payments. Square does have digital wallet payment options with their square space shopping cart. Fingers crossed they will fix this custom import stuff soon.

Fair and decent. No complaints and a good alternative to PayPal.
Fees were low, set up was quick and customer service is fair. Overall a good merchant to use if not wanting to go through all the paperwork with regular merchants.
Price of the unit is a bit high but still fair. Security is a bit strict but I suppose that is good for protecting the community.

I have both a Square and a Paypal reader. I find myself always reaching for Paypal. Square is great, don't get me wrong, but I am more familiar with Paypal so I go with what I know. Square comes with a cute little reader for point of sale transactions. The app works. I've never experienced a glitch. There are many opportunities for customization of inventory as well.
I just find that the checkout process is a bit...cumbersome. It's just the layout. It's not awful, but I don't prefer it.

I've really enjoyed using this product and if my sales keep increasing (like they have) I'll be upgrading to their terminal so I can accept chip cards and won't have to connect to my phone for every sale.
I own a small organic candle and home products business. I was using PayPal before I found square, and having the ability to run a credit/debit card boosted my sales tremendously! The platform is easy to use and they help keep all your products organized and reports easy to navigate. Also, the deposits hit my account very quickly. Highly recommend this product!
No lightning connector for my iPhone, had to purchase a toggle to connect them.

offsite and no internet except cell phones this is a CLEAR winner.
super easy to use for my clients. If they cant afford a super POS this is what they use. Can use offsite with a cell phone and boom. Take credit cards. I mean. Jetsons it is. I love
very expensive fees associate with it. Its part of paypal I think so its very big brother...

I would have loved it if I could use my cards or PayPal account
I like that it can and will transfer right to your bank account and that you can take payment right through your phone.
There is no other way to use it without a bank account. You can not even link it to your PayPal. I understand the security of it.

Square POS has changed the way we run our business. It almost makes operating a brick and mortar store...an archaic form of commerce. The software itself can be mobilized anywhere, set up in a matter of minutes, and offers far more than we realized.
The simplicity. Square POS can be used by anyone, from a business owner to part-time employee, with or without POS hardware. This is important because nobody wants to be muddled with complicated software when making sales in a fast paced environment.
The inventory system could use some work, most especially integrations with various e-commerce platforms. While we can add inventory, its almost easy (if not more time consuming) to add products one by one, as the CV system is not very customizable.
