This is a great option if you don’t have a lot of processing volume and if you don’t want to be locked into a contract.
2.75% is higher than PayPal or other similar processors.

Good service and better than paypal.
I use and still use paypal but they have way to many fees. Square doesn't have fees for the service I use outside the transaction charge. It integrates into your website for free! Paypal charges like $30 a month for that service or more.
I wish there was an option to pay for the service per month rather than a transaction charge. Let me explain...instead of paying 2.75% per transaction there could be an option to pay a monthly charge which would be less in the aggregate.

Easy to use for accepting payments. Plugs in for swiping cards and accepts manual entries.
Works the same as PayPal reader and app. Nothing new here.

Fair and decent. No complaints and a good alternative to PayPal.
Fees were low, set up was quick and customer service is fair. Overall a good merchant to use if not wanting to go through all the paperwork with regular merchants.
Price of the unit is a bit high but still fair. Security is a bit strict but I suppose that is good for protecting the community.

Overall, I prefer square any day over stripe and PayPal payments.
Love live square. Love that it can be used for both in store and online payments. It sync with my quickbooks which saves me a whole lot of time. It gives detail daily reports which includes best seller of the day, number of sales, number of products sold and what type of product sold, taxes paid, types of payment the customers used, plus it syncs with my online store inventory. Square gives you all the detail info you never realized you need till you need it all in one place. So easy to use and tailored for retailers. Love the Apple Pay feature too.
My big con with square integration is it doesn’t sync well with bigcommerce. By that I mean, my online sales gets imported as a custom order so there is no itemized list of what the customers bought. Also with bigcommerce, there is no way for me to take Apple Pay or other digital wallet payments. Square does have digital wallet payment options with their square space shopping cart. Fingers crossed they will fix this custom import stuff soon.

I have both a Square and a Paypal reader. I find myself always reaching for Paypal. Square is great, don't get me wrong, but I am more familiar with Paypal so I go with what I know. Square comes with a cute little reader for point of sale transactions. The app works. I've never experienced a glitch. There are many opportunities for customization of inventory as well.
I just find that the checkout process is a bit...cumbersome. It's just the layout. It's not awful, but I don't prefer it.

offsite and no internet except cell phones this is a CLEAR winner.
super easy to use for my clients. If they cant afford a super POS this is what they use. Can use offsite with a cell phone and boom. Take credit cards. I mean. Jetsons it is. I love
very expensive fees associate with it. Its part of paypal I think so its very big brother...

Overall I’m happy with square I use it and Venmo/PayPal because it’s free also PayPal has the tools for shipping built into their system so I can easily use that. Another plus for PayPa is that it has email functions.
I love that the square POS it’s simple to process purchases and sales. Very user friendly easy to input items sku number and names and addresses and create invoices and receipts to be emailed or texted to customers.
Not competitively priced the fees are not as low as other point of sales. They have built a great name and can charge higher prices.

I would have loved it if I could use my cards or PayPal account
I like that it can and will transfer right to your bank account and that you can take payment right through your phone.
There is no other way to use it without a bank account. You can not even link it to your PayPal. I understand the security of it.

Square point of sale has been a great asset allowing us to take card payments not only in person when we run an estate sale but also over the phone for clients who wish to pay their invoices with a card versus a check. The option of a text or email receipt is also very helpful for those who want proof of purchase/payment when we don't have a printer onsite.
It allows us to take card payments for any amount using the app when a customer doesn't have cash instead of the risk of taking a check.
The processing fees are competitive with other services such as PayPal but still high and cut into our profits.

Fast and easy setup. Accurate customer contact information stored in the "cloud".
The best part of Square POS is the ability to retain customer records and export them to our database. Square is also less expensive than many of the other POS systems. It's easy to use, very intuitive and is worth the setup and integration. We use Square at Trade Shows and Conferences for in person point of sales. This is also the best due to the chip card and apple pay capabilities.
It can be expensive to refund money, as the fees are not returned, like they are with PayPal. So, it is important to know that you won't get a return ahead of time for the service or product you are selling. Otherwise, we will use PayPal

Square makes it easy it’s swipe your customers card then and there. Very easy to use.
The best thing about Square is that you can swipe your payments right there on the spot. No waiting for payment to come through later or for client to forget and need to be reminded. It happens at that moment.
It’s very similar to PayPal in transaction use. There’s nothing I don’t like. It’s just nice to have another payment method.

Since using Square for my small business, I have felt more professional and organized. I was using PayPal before this, and I just felt like my customers deserved better. Square gave me options that I did not have with PayPal and made my transaction process smooth and seamless.
I love that Square is so easy to use and set up. I run a small company where I sell customized products. Square is perfect because for my company because of the low fees, quick set-up and free initial square reader. In addition, the inventory control option is just so amazing and simple. I can add and control inventory (even add photos) from the app with ease. I can also create and edit prices while creating customer inventories. Square helps my small business feel professional.
There is nothing I do not like about Square. It is the most professional off all inexpensive point of sales and is perfect for a small business.
