Pros

Good pricing and customer support available. Great hardware options - Android and IOS Capability Able to run in offline mode.

Cons

Also, occasional account freezing due to suspected fraudulent activity.

Great simple POS for small shops

Square POS enabled us to add a POS to replace our old cash register for the minimum expense. Much more affordable than competing products but also has far fewer features and poor support for tip handling.

Pros

Very easy to setup Affordable processing Good invoicing system Very easy to customize Simple Pretty design makes it easy to use all day

Cons

If you don't have employee management on and you have multiple shift workers sharing a register and pooled tips it turns into a Custom Report nightmare.

Square>PayPal (for the most part)

Pros

For our purposes, we have a Cash.me (Square Cash) account and our own Square account as well for more formal things like invoicing advertising clients and the like.

Cons

Square integration into a website requires a third party backend to do so, something that PayPal does not require, making them easier to integrate into one's website without giving up info to a third party backend, which in itself can costs hundreds, if not thousand of dollars.

I like the turn around on getting payments into my bank account.

Pros

I have used Square for approximately 3 years now.

Cons

My only complaint is the extra fee for invoicing rather than swiping a card as most of my transactions are invoiced.

Some minor issues with features lacking on mobile, but I know this is likely temporary as Square has the money and size to get new software features out regularly.

Pros

I am very pleased with the abilities to track activities with clients, record notes about the service, capture payment, financial and activity reports, and easily tie in the financial info to my bank account and QuickBooks.

Cons

Clients each have their own client card for info and interaction tracking, these cards can then be grouped with custom-named groups, but I find inconsistencies with groups between desktop and mobile, with mobile lacking in some regards.

The ability to accept payments in person without a long and intimidating application process is revolutionary and has helped us accept payments in person and also remotely when needed.

Pros

At the time there was no API so it wasn't a complete solution but now they've caught up.

Cons

Square was a bit slow to get their API and start to integrate with 3rd parties so a lot of our online traffic shifted elsewhere.
