TPS Axis is a Great Addition to Our Firm Management

We used the TPS Desktop/On Premise software on a file server for 3-4 years and converted to TPS Axis in January 2021. Our staff members think Axis is much easier to use than the Desktop version of TPS was. It has been a wonderful change and I recommend TPS all the time.

Pros

We are primarily using TPS Axis for tracking employee time for payroll and to track client billable hours for invoicing. Our employees love that Axis is cloud-based, so staff can enter their time remotely. We also really like that the client work time sorts by different types of work and that each employee can have multiple billing rates for different types for their work. The reports that I use are easy to read. The conversion from the old version of TPS toTPS Axis was seamless and all of our old data was migrated into Axis in about 2 weeks. It's a great value for the price. I would love it if TPS becomes full-bodied practice management software.

Cons

The report names are confusing because they are all so similar. I have a hard time getting the reports I want, so just use a few that I understand. Giving each of the reports a more unique name would add a huge amount of value for me because I could use the software at a much greater level.

All of the features we are using are very helpful.

Cons

Mouse usage. It would be faster if there were more hot keys when updating workflow. The save button and next the OK button, if hot keys were made for them it would speed up the process.

A very useful tool for the modern accounting practice. Can help keep employees on track.

Pros

A very functional (and detailed) time tracking, billing and general practice management tool. Have significantly upgrade the UI so much better to use than even a few years ago.

Cons

Can still be difficult to pull relevant reports quickly. Editing and moving certain entries is not as intuitive as you would like.

TPS is a Helpful Tool

Pros

This program is a great tool that allows for analysis for time spent, costs to clients and time management. If you are unsure of anything, there are several videos and the support staff is truly exceptional.

Cons

The system has so many different features. If you are scared to push buttons, it can be a little overwhelming but ultimately the support staff and helpful videos are always a great source of information. Being able to import fees that our firms receives from outside sources via an excel spreadsheet that are passed along to our clients would be a great upgrade.

Pros

We are very basic users. Time input by employees. Invoices input by me and payments input by me. The transition to TPS Cloud was very user friendly.

Cons

There are so many features that do not pertain to us. It would be helpful if I could just put as many e-mails and contacts within the Address tab of the client and not use contacts. I do not contact clients through TPS so this is not really a feature that is convenient for me.

Wonderful! The program is very easy to use, has all the reports we could ever need and more and the support we have always received from [sensitive content hidden] and others is quick, extremely detailed and gets me back on track with answers to all my questions in no time.

Pros

I like that the interface is extremely user friendly with instructional videos available with each tab. There are also many ways to get the information that you would like to have displayed rather than just a report with a bunch of irrelevant data. We certainly have a strong handle on the business thanks to the reports available with TPS. In addition to this, [sensitive content hidden] has always been quick to offer thorough solutions to any grey areas we have or questions that arise.

Cons

I disliked making the change from the desktop version as I was worried I would need to relearn everything but the transition was quite seamless and I couldn't be happier we made the change now!

Pros

As an employee, I use the Workflow portion of TPS the most, and it is such a useful tool! I love that we can update the status of a file as well as indicate notes in the same area. It keeps everything in one place and lets me quickly review where my current workload sits. I also really enjoy being able to reassign the task to another team member as needed for reviewing or delegating.

Cons

Not really a con, but it took me a few months to really familiarize myself with the platform and use it at its full potential. There are so many different features that it takes a while to get used to using all of them. However I did like that there were videos available under most functions to get a better understanding of how to use each section.

overall - good and gets the job done

Pros

easy to enter time and easy to invoice and track billing and payments

Cons

I wish it had a built in payment system with QuickBooks and Drake or it's own payment function. The reporting can be tricky sometimes. I don't like that you must open/close period just to delete some payments.

You can enter payments manually into TPS Axis but we don't do online payments. For these we sync with Clover Connect,Paypal, Stripe, CPA Charge, Payclix & QBO for QuickBooks pay. We will reach out to you explain in detail. Periods are made to secure information, avoiding anyone to delete, reverse payments, or invoices, as they will need permission to reverse the period back. When you closed your period we suggest a few reports to be run, to make sure all Wip, A/R are correct,

In the 10 years we've been using, I have only had to call maybe two times for customer service help. This week was the second time. [sensitive content hidden] was fantastic to work with. I am not a techy person by any means & she was very polite, helpful, and explained to me what our situation was; which we will be updating in the near future.

Pros

I've been using for so long, daily tasks have become second nature.

Cons

Can't really think of anything at this time.

Time & Billing Issued Solved

We've used TPS since we originally hired team members. It's part of our "family" of software programs that make this firm work.

Pros

TSP was designed for accounting firms to track time, and expenses. It's excellent when used for billings. It takes the stress out of the crucial billing process. And it's a leader in tracking team hours and processes.

Cons

There are a lot of reports, so it may take a little time to find your favorites.

Stable, but getting a bit dated

Pros

We have been using TPS for over 10 years. It's been stable, and relatively simple to use. The ability to transfer WIP is good. Tracking time is easy, and if a user wants to use the timer it is easy to start and stop. Adding time manually takes only seconds. Invoices are easy to create.

Cons

Adding new clients - the process always feel awkward, and takes just a few more clicks than it should need to. Looking up history is clumsy at times. Too many reports to wade through, although some people no doubt will appreciate the many reports.

There are lots of reports in TPS - over 400 - but that is why we offer the ability to create user defined "favorite" reports so you don't have to look through the list in the future. It is a user friendly, online software that helps us with both record timing and to stay on track on work that needs to be done.

Cons

I hope it is easier to click on "Complete Task" when the timer for a particular work is going without closing or open the workflow tab.

Cons

Entering time when one begins a time entry in the morning and completes it in the PM...this should not be this difficult and oftentimes start time entry is lost.

Take control of your practice!!

I love TPS Cloud Axis because the information is there and updated in real time, I am able to track my work day and activities spent on each client.

Pros

I like the ability to see what my work flow is over the period of time and be able to move things around on a day to day basis and keep things that are important on the radar. I have the workflow tab as my default tab and I like it because it shows what needs to be done over the next few weeks and I can schedule my time accordingly.

Cons

TPS has a lot of different activities which are spread out around different areas on the site. I don't like it that there is no "dashboard" that shows an overall summary - profitability, Billable time vs non billable time, which files are not worked on, files in progress, tasks to do this week, tasks that need documents, tasks waiting for signature and payment. I need to go in to specifically look for each item which is somewhat time consuming if I need to do this every day. It would be nice to have a customizable dashboard.

TPS Software Review

I combine TPS with QuickBooks for my billing and invoicing functions and use TPS to monitor my employees time usage. It has been very helpful and the support has been very quick to respond and assist with any problems.

Pros

I am able to track the time of five or six employees across my customer base of about 900 clients and their different projects. This is very helpful in invoicing and making sure jobs are profitable and is also a good training tool for employees and time management.

Cons

The negatives about TPS are my own fault as I need to delegate more to employees and load more data to make this program more functional and helpful to me.

TPS - A Must for Small Accounting Firms!

Pros

Time entry for employees is easy, straightforward and requires very little time. The ability to live-track time has improved time tracking compliance. Billing functionality has transformed how and when we bill. Being able to simply and quickly bill directly from TPS has taken out a lot of manual time calculation and manual billing compilation. For the first time we're actually able to start interim billing our clients, which they actually greatly appreciate as bills are timely for work performed and doesn't end up with one large bill for the year after year end.

Cons

The workflow management could be easier to use, I'm not quite sure how but presently the need to manually click on each individual client in the calendar and select "Done" can be quite cumbersome. As a result we haven't used this functionality yet.

We're glad to know that this has reduced manual time calculation and billing compilation. We acknowledge that usability is a key factor in enhancing the efficiency of our workflow management system. Whish is why end of July we will be releasing a complete different approach to time entry. We will be letting you know once its available.

TPS Cloud Axis for Accounting Practice

We have been using TPS Cloud Axis for approximately 2 years, after using the non-cloud version for 3 years prior. It has been a tremendous asset to our practice and has helped immeasurably. The fact that is a cloud-based system allows us to you it anywhere, which is huge! We didn't realize how much we were underbilling our clients until we were introduced to TPS.

Pros

Time tracking for our accountants is of the utmost importance. TPS Cloud Axis has been a lifesaving tool and helps us bill our clients appropriately.

Cons

I can't really come up with any cons! We love it!
