Pros

I love the app and gives me accounting on the go. Helps me track invoices and profits with ease.
The ease of use and reputation are by far the greatest part of this product. In addition to this, the range of potential integrations is fantastic.
Really easy to submit expenses, categorise them and check the progress of you submitted expense - super easy to do all from the app.

Pros

We are keeping track of all corporate spend, and submitting them all on time now. The visibility of where all expenses are in their approval process has been great for our users.
The navigation is very user intuitive and there are apps to help simplify expense entry and receipt capture. It has very robust reporting capabilities and support documentation on their community.
Overall the experience has been great and we are happy with it.

Cons

There are no delivery notes/packing slips. They tout a "workaround" but be warned, it's exactly 10 extra clicks so it's really not an option if you need this feature.
Our main complaint is that Xero stopped doing payroll in 2018, so now you have to pay an additional fee to a payroll processor such as Gusto.
Changing accounting software from Xero is a horrible experience. They make it very difficult to pivot to other software.

Cons

The errors that get thrown when a business condition is not met sometimes seem a little unpolished. For example, if it warns you to include a note, and you include a note, the warning doesn't go away.
Chrome River has a poor user interface, so is hard for new users to navigate and generally is clunky.
When we first went live with Chrome River then, we went live with the Mercury version and a lot of things were still on the Platinum version so a little inconvenient at the time.

I like that the application is easy to learn. It is a good application for small and medium enterprises.

Pros

We use it for our company purchase and expense procedure. It is very easy to create bills, purchase orders, and expense claims. Employees can view the status of the expense claims.

Cons

There is no email notification or any alert when purchase orders and bills are approved. Also, small department-specific purchases are decentralized in our work but Xero does not allow non-admin accounts to export the .pdf of approved purchase orders for sending to suppliers.

Pros

Xero offers unlimited accounting tools at affordable rates unlike alternatives. I like that Xero matches POs, accounts and invoices to detect disparities when paying vendors.

Cons

Our organization has used Quickbooks for a very long time and we made the decision to switch to Xero. It was worth it. The customer service is amazing and the product is pretty easy to learn. It has its own way of doing things that are different from Quickbooks but is much better. The expense report feature that allows employees to directly input their expenses into the system is a massive time saver. Definitely, recommend giving it a shot!

Pros

Great robust features like expense reports for employees and integrated payroll.

Cons

Terminology is slightly different from other software and the way of doing things is a little different but overall very easy to learn.

Pros

Xero does a good job of keeping invoices, bills and expense claims separate. I use Xero mainly for expense claims, and it's very easy to add multiple line items, and calculate tax rates, etc.

Cons

It seems to take an extra step to see a visual of an old receipt submitted. Sometimes the software runs a little slowly.

I switched from quickbooks and am never looking back. It is easy, beautiful, functional, and I get paid fast without having to swallow big payment processing fees.

Pros

Easy billing, easy expense tracking, clear and easy to customize reports. Easy AND functional

Cons

real time customer support would be better than waiting 24 hrs or so for a reply, which could then add up to a week of back and forth that could be resolved in minutes.

We moved to Xero to replace Quicken and our expense tracking software. It's easy to use and provides great functionality for SMBs who don't necessarily have in-house accounting.

Pros

*Very few *Wish we could setup email triggers so that when invoices were marked paid by someone on the team, others could automatically be notified

I've found Xero relatively easy to use and very useful in my business to do my invoicing.

Pros

Like the bank reconciliation section, creation and matching. I also like the expense tracking and reimbursement.

Cons

Didn't like that I had to be an adviser to access certain functions (like easy moving of transactions in bulk after processing). I would like improvements on future cash flow management tools.

Super easy use for invoicing and paying bills

Paying bills is way faster with this software than when done by hand (the options available for printing company personalized cheques are very useful).

Pros

It is easy to use for invoicing, paying bills and even expense claims. We can have many users and the access options we choose from for each are really well set-up. It is easy to link a bank account to the software and keeping track of the money that comes in and out through a reconciling process, which allows you to see every transaction, even those you haven't necessarily created a claim, invoice or receipt for (i.e. credit card transactions transfer from online registrations/sales). Receipting is also very quick and easy to do.

Cons

Certain functionalities are not necessarily logical (for example when submitting an expense claim with 2 pages worth of expenses, if you're not carefully selecting everything on the two pages, you will end up having to pay the expense in multiple transactions or cheques).

Make company accounting easier with Xero

Overall, Xero has been satisfactory. We are getting by with it but it does make me wonder what the other companies are using.

Pros

Xero is a good starter accounting platform for small businesses. We are able to use Xero for managing company expense claims. With minimal training, employees across the firm can self-file expenses for education, health, and company transportation.

Cons

You will need to train your employees on the different company cost centers, especially as you scale. We frequently have to send back the expense claims for revisions as they used a different cost center or did not fill in the right category for the expense claim.

Pros

Xero has been super helpful to our business as it has provided us with accounting templates for invoicing, purchases, and expense claims. It is easy to use, with our entire employee base engaging the software for their expense claims. Employees can track the status of their claims and see it move through the funnel.

Cons

Customer support is not that great. Response time from the Xero team can be slow at times. In a startup environment where we need decisions to be made ASAP, this can be a bit of a bummer.

Basic functionality missing & charging sneaky

NO EXPENSE feature - just been removed from standard package and now charged per user add on Basic payroll functionality missing - no P11D reports, no dividend functionality whatsoever. Bank feeds very limited and regularly fail. Support dreadful. Many many customers complained about expense functionality sold to them as standard now being removed but they say tough!

Pros

It’s simple to use (probably because there isn’t much to it) Repeating invoices nice to have. Community support helpful but not xero support

NO EXPENSE feature - just been removed from standard package and now charged per user add on Basic payroll functionality missing - no P11D reports, no dividend functionality whatsoever. Bank feeds very limited and regularly fail.

I haven't experienced anything difficult with Xero accounting as it meets all my needs.

Web based accounting software that covers many aspects including Core accounting, fund accounting, expense management, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, project accounting, billing and invoicing and payroll management.

Cons

Learning the system was a task but after learning all that it had to offer and how to use it this software is an asset to our firm!!!

Reduce time reviewing accounts with the accountant. Reduced mass of paperwork.

Pros

Easy to use accounts system that connects with many other systems we use. makes transferring sales from our website automated cutting man hours down greatly. Great range of added apps like receipt bank again cutting hours for entering invoices from suppliers etc

Cons

Lacks forecasting features and ability to help non-accountant types like myself visualise the business accounts using graphs and statistics without adding further expense from additional apps.

Pros

Xero integrates well with our credit card expense management and our invoice scanning app making it easier to do my daily job. The Xero support team is very helpful, too.

Cons

The preparation of BAS because it did not recognise the gst code "GNR" so I have to manually compute my final figure.

Financial Book keeping , invoicing, getting paid and submitting my taxes

Pros

Solid integrations available for things like expense reports, receipt management, and I can work with outside accountants. Makes tax returns super straight forward as long as I keep mh books reconciled.

Cons

I think the worst part is more the legacy banking systems that Xero needs to work with. They have flaky security mechanisms which cause accounts to become disconnected randomly. This is better or worse with various banks and financial institutions. So, not a fault of Xero's possibly

Pros

Great cloud based service for accounting, uptime has never been an issue. Easy to interact from in terms of expense reporting. Software always up to date, no compatibility issues like with quick books.

Cons

I don't have anything bad to say about the software. It is competitively priced and does a good job plus has useful integrations like Bill.com.

Streamlined accounting services and easy online payment setup.

Pros

I love that I can invite my accountant to the software for end of the year handoff for taxes. I also really appreciate the ability to attach paypal or stripe to easily accept online payments from my clients.

Cons

I believe the expense report filing could be made easier or have more support in understanding how to categorize expenses when you are still learning how to do business accounting.
