I like the way xero integrates with lots of other programs, so you can easily connect your bank account, sales channels, inventory management and alaylitcs software. With all these integrates the work load is reduced considerably, making it feasible to do day to day book keeping as you go without hiring a specialist. The product is constantly growing with new integrations and reports added, you can also directly post VAT returns and other official filling to HMRC from inside the app.
I would like to see a full function smartphone app and native desktop app. At the moment the iPhone app allows limited functions but you have to go to the web app to get all the real functionality.

Xero is very basic as an accounting program. The market to which it markets it has no understanding of, is, therefore, unable to address any questions or requests coming from businesses in these markets. Customer Service is appalling. Many requests that are essential to business have been open in some cases more than 5 years and they seem to only reply to requests posted online once a year. If you...
Relatively good online/mobile app.
Takes forever to respond to customer requests. Have very generic type responses when they eventually respond which could be a year later. Has features that are meant to implement open for more than 5 years. Not made for small business that deals with small to large enterprises. No Partial invoicing. Can't deal with different departments having different functions ie quotes to buying department, invoices to the financial department. There is no way to allocate contacts to these functions you need to a separate spreadsheet. No track record between quote and invoices, you have to open invoice and quote to know exactly which job belongs to which quote and invoice.

I've been using Xero for over two years now. It's easy to find receipts and it integrates well with Plooto and Receipt Bank
Easy of use, search feature, mobile app.
I don't like bookkeeping, but Xero makes it much more tolerable.

Xero is an easy to use platform with all the features you need for easy day to day functioning. I really like the home dashboard which quickly covers everything you need to know
The app is useless - so if you are like me and use your phone a lot then having to navigate the desktop site on your phone can be fiddly.

Getting started with Xero is really easy and intuitive. It has a nice set of features to cover most accounting needs. I would recommend it especially because usability and thorough data management makes it a viable option for a range of individuals and businesses. There is even an option to open the system to your accountants

It's by far the easiest accounting app I have used and my accountant recommended this after I was having issues with Capium.
It's simplicity via the mobile app. The concept of reconciling transactions with rules automatically is brilliant and you can do it in one touch of a button on the mobile app.
It takes a short while to grasp the most efficient way to actually write and implement rules for account transactions.

I switched from Quickbooks to Xero because Xero integrates with so many more online apps EASILY. Sure you can make Quickbooks Online work with some apps, but integrating them isn't nearly as easy or smooth as it is with Xero. And in the world of cloud computing, having quality tools that all work well together is huge.
The mobile app is currently very limited in what you can do. It would be nice if I could create and view invoices on the mobile app.

Xero makes checking in with my business numbers easy. It has a huge amount of functionality and is very clear in how it is laid out.
It is straightforward and the Xero keep are always thinking ahead and updating features for the better.
The app for the phone is not that great.

We opted for Xero after using another accounting software product for 18 months. We have not regretted that decision since!
We went with Xero because it integrated with our other financial apps Quickbooks was our original accounting software, but we switched when we found Xero; it seemed to be more user friendly than Quickbooks
Our previous account software offered a much better native app product. Xero is convenient for the cloud-based service, but I (sometimes) miss the native app functionality of Quickbooks.

Xero is an incredibly intuitive bookkeeping and accounts package. I love the way your accountants are linked directly into the software making it very easy to ask questions and have issues resolved. The service is updated continuously (for example payroll and quotes are recent additions to the service), and I love the fact that everything can be done paper-free with scans and documents stored in the service. The mobile apps are a bonus and let you manage the finances of the business on the move. The support and engagement with customers is also great. Finally, it also integrates with many of our other business systems (like Quote Roller and MailChimp), streamlining our business processes.
The only downside is that there is no Windows phone app.

Before I switched to Xero, I was going my business bookkeeping in Gnucash, and it was all a very manual process - downloading bank files, importing them into my software, categorizing all of the transactions, creating invoices and bills, marking payments. I hated every minute of it. Xero makes so much of that automatic, and the rest is easy and painless. I can stay on top of it, so I can always see exactly what's going on with my business.
The bank feed integrations make it so easy to keep my books up to date. It's also pretty great to be able to do quick updates in the mobile app - I mostly use it to reconcile transactions, and I love it that it auto-suggests matches for existing transactions and repeated transactions.
I wish the phone app had an option to create transfers between accounts. If it could do that, I'd almost never need to log into the desktop app except to view reports.

This web app is a great inventory management system that gets the job done. It also has some simple accounting features perfect for small companies and startups to boost productivity. This can be easily extended to 3rd party software such as Xero, etc.
