Pros

I love the app and gives me accounting on the go. Helps me track invoices and profits with ease.
The ease of use and reputation are by far the greatest part of this product. In addition to this, the range of potential integrations is fantastic.
Really easy to submit expenses, categorise them and check the progress of you submitted expense - super easy to do all from the app.

Cons

There are no delivery notes/packing slips. They tout a "workaround" but be warned, it's exactly 10 extra clicks so it's really not an option if you need this feature.
Our main complaint is that Xero stopped doing payroll in 2018, so now you have to pay an additional fee to a payroll processor such as Gusto.
Changing accounting software from Xero is a horrible experience. They make it very difficult to pivot to other software.

Xero make accounting very easy even if you're a newbie.

Xero is for me the best alternative /competitor for QuickBooks. Love the smoothness and the features are flawless. I got to try out the trail version and I'm impressed at what the capabilities are. Good recommendation for accounting in the cloud.

Pros

- Best advantage above some other great cloud accounting systems is the multi currency feature - Great invoicing features: send automated invoice reminders, customize templates, bulk invoicing. - Inventory: Bulk import, best seller tracking, untracked and tracked items. - Connect Apps to increase effective accounting, inventory management or sales.

Cons

- Some like cloud based systems, others don't. Thing is you have to have an internet connection in order to work. - For enterprise purposes, you might look for a more advanced system. But this software covers almost every aspect of running a good business.

Pros

Xero gives me the peace of mind knowing that i can easily customize the quotes and invoices to suite my business needs. The fact that i can automatically export and import files is an added advantage.

Cons

I haven't experienced anything i would say i least like about this software. I believe its cost matches the features and functionalities.

This is a great product for businesses, for us, a business that has grown from 1-12 rather quickly it gives us accurate and quick data to enable our growth and vision strategy.

Pros

Having had the opportunity of seeing this product badly used we took time to set ours up early in the process. We really have a slick, easy to use system that provides as much detail as you could ever need - or in our case, a great and very simply dashboard!

Cons

I cannot find fault in this product, as a small enterprise it caters for our every needs

Great product for small business

We are a small company, but have a global audience. The ease of use and native multi-currency make me recomment this software highly.

Pros

Xero out of the box enables a small business to run its accounts in a professional manner and the many plugins allow for great automation. We are using multiple currencies and it works without a hitch. Linking directly to bank accounts to get and recon all the transactions is another winner.

Cons

It has quite a few limitations compared to the enterprise cousins, but at the price it is a no-brainer.

Xero is my accounting software of choice for all my clients

Xero, along with several add-ons have allowed me to realize my dream of having and growing my business while having the location freedom to travel and escape from the Canadian winters! It has also allowed me to grow my business to serving clients all across Canada and the USA which is something that would dnot have been possible using the software and business model I had previously.

Pros

I love that it is a fully functional accounting package that is cloud-based. It allows me and my clients to work from anywhere and still keep our numbers and business running smoothly. Since my business focuses mainly on Entrepreneurs running businesses online the amazing suite of integrations makes thins so much "easier" for my clients on a day to day basis.

Cons

The only "con" that I have is that it is a subscription-based service and that it can be pricey for new businesses starting out. Their base packages that I have access to as an accountant are good for other types of businesses but for an online based business no matter how small, the transaction limit for the smaller packages is waaaay to small.

Pros

Xero provides a great overall experience for general financial accounting, as well as solid support for international business. The extra file storage is a nice addition, though for most needs a bit overkill. The mobile apps are well-designed and provide a solid UI for financial management, though some of the features from the full desktop suite are unavailable in-app.

Cons

One of the best features available in other online accounting suites - employee time tracking - is missing in Xero, and this significantly reduces the viability of the product for many of the potential users. While it is possible to integrate third party add-ons to provide this functionality, it's not a seamless transition, so there are some hiccups to work around.

Better functionality elsewhere

Very poor. My expectations were high after all the good things I had heard about this software but my experience was so bad that we migrated (for the second time) to QBO. It also has issues but there is great support and maybe they will make some of the changes we have requested?

Pros

XERO was recommended by our accountant and I assumed , incorrectly, that the account worked closely with the software. They do at the enterprise level with P&L, BS and ATO annual returns but not at the day-to-day transaction level.

Cons

Certainly not best-of-class and we ditched it after 6 months and switched to QuickBooks Online. XERO is simply not designed with small business needs taken in to account. Delivery dockets, which the majority of small service businesses use every day, is clumsy and very inefficient. Customer service is non-existent. You can post issues on XERO Central to your hearts content but there is no interest and less action.

Xero is easy to use (with a little direction perhaps) and it's been great for invoicing, payroll, and tracking our finances.

Pros

Xero has been easy to use, it's streamlined our invoicing processes and ensured that the right members of the team all have suitable appropriate access and knows what's happening financially. Easy to share with accountants. A thoughtful social enterprise discount given too.

Cons

We needed some training from our accountant to show us how to manage projects effectively (without paying for extra features)

I freely recommend Xero to others in my e-com / growing small business space.

Pros

Eliminates the limitations of traditional software with our Mac environment. Clean, easy to look at, and the integrations with other softwares are increasing regularly.

Cons

I use a bookkeeper and an accountant to keep my business straight using Xero. I don't think it's quite easy enough to use Xero DIY exclusively for a business of my size.

We switched to Xero from a more "enterprise" style product and LOVE it! It is easy, simple and light-weight. It works well with our small (2 people) Finance team and allows them to work in a quick, lean way. Great integrations, very intuitive, easy to collaborate and the interface is great.

Cons

No cons for this... yet. We have been very happy with Xero so far, the only "negative" response that we could give is that their After Sales team was a bit weak and integration was primarily self-led.

Pros

I like that Xero is always up to-date - I no longer need to do installs or worry myself the the computers are going to crash. I like the freedom it gives me to work wherever I can access the internet. I love that it has changed the way I do business, eliminating data entry and automating repetitive business process, exponentially expanding my capacity to serve clients. I like that Xero has enabled me to move from a small local business, to a business that can deal in multi-currency and work globally - it has enabled me to massively expand my customer base. I find I am able to travel a lot more - now I am on Xero. I find the support always listen to my issue, and do their best to sort it out.

Cons

It has forced me to change the way I do business (for the better!!)

Too Many Whistles For Small Business

Xero was great for integration with other platforms and automation. However if you do not have a big team or a lot of transactions then I find Xero to be an overkill and big unnecessary learning curve. I prefer simplicity when it comes to using accounting systems.

Pros

Xero is great if you have a dedicated accountant/bookkeeper to setup and manage your data. For that reason it is a great option because it has heaps of functionality and flexibility if you have unusual business structure and need to track complex expenses or billing cycles etc.

Cons

For small business or entrepreneurs I find this software too complex and has a big learning curve. Accounting does not need to be this extensive for the everyday business owner. There are plenty of free alternatives.

I love it. The ease of setup, use this software has won my heart.

Pros

The simple and seamless implementation. As a Finance manage i manage a range of different type of small businesses. Xero is my go to software when selecting a new software, due to to is ease of implementation, user friendliness and ease or learning anything i need to fix.

Cons

Bank reconciliation and feed are a bit of hassle sometimes as there is not option to select between business vs personal account. Xero should be able to give option to provide feed for stand business vs personal login profile when setting up feed. Also to be able to select different account times like business loans, asset finance, etc. For atleast australian major banks.

Pros

With Xero, you can interconnect everything business. You can sync all your business solutions and have them under one umbrella. You can connect to businesses, business professionals and accountants as well as your banks with Xero business solutions. It is indeed unique

Cons

I think the overall performance of Xero is at the very least satisfactory. I do not have any significant problem with them

Limited offer. Does few things very well, then stops.

Xero allows basic book-keeping functions to be completed easily and remotely, but it doesn't do much else. Don't expect sales analysis options or reports beyond the financial basics. It does a few things really well...like taking you bank statement and turns it to a P&L etc.

Pros

Remote access. It has allowed me to outsource my book-keeping function, which is the only reason I swopped systems from what I was using prior. Xero is well known and well-liked by book-keepers in New Zealand. Plenty of Add-ins options to develop capability.

Cons

Poor inventory managements. No real sales analysis. There are no management accounts just financial accounts. Add-ins start to get expensive to build in the functionality that your business needs to get the business management tools you are looking for.

Overall experience was good and smooth. Initially understanding the entire system gave us a little bit of tough tie but eventually we adopted well.

Pros

Xero improved our business processes and enhanced our departmental efficiency. It has all the modules to cover our business needs and it's integrated features helped us take prompt effective business decisions.

Cons

It's just a bit expensive specifically when you've 600+ salespeople who's using this application at every moment to initiate quotes or process invoices.

Xero is a nice alternative to QuickBooks and offers a nice online product.

Cons

Xero is targeted to the small business market. The basic offering takes care of simple needs.
