Pros

I love the app and gives me accounting on the go. Helps me track invoices and profits with ease.
The ease of use and reputation are by far the greatest part of this product. In addition to this, the range of potential integrations is fantastic.
Really easy to submit expenses, categorise them and check the progress of you submitted expense - super easy to do all from the app.

Cons

There are no delivery notes/packing slips. They tout a "workaround" but be warned, it's exactly 10 extra clicks so it's really not an option if you need this feature.
Our main complaint is that Xero stopped doing payroll in 2018, so now you have to pay an additional fee to a payroll processor such as Gusto.
Changing accounting software from Xero is a horrible experience. They make it very difficult to pivot to other software.

Pros

The obvious plus to Xero is that I'm able to access both accounting and inventory management in one place. It's simple and works well with the Profit First system.

Cons

Although the inventory management integration exists, it doesn't do everything I hope it will. This means that I will have to look elsewhere for an exhaustive inventory management system.

Xero allows basic book-keeping functions to be completed easily and remotely, but it doesn't do much else. Don't expect sales analysis options or reports beyond the financial basics. It does a few things really well...like taking you bank statement and turns it to a P&L etc.

Pros

Remote access. It has allowed me to outsource my book-keeping function, which is the only reason I swopped systems from what I was using prior. Xero is well known and well-liked by book-keepers in New Zealand. Plenty of Add-ins options to develop capability.

Cons

Poor inventory managements. No real sales analysis. There are no management accounts just financial accounts. Add-ins start to get expensive to build in the functionality that your business needs to get the business management tools you are looking for.

Great accounting for the modern entrepreneur that is cloud based and wants insight to their company while providing the tools for their accountant to do thier job while removing the burden on the small entrepreneur form being burried in paper work :)

Pros

Yes this accounting software is really that easy to use and set up wih multiple companies. Entries, billing, full accounting management with great dashboard. Has 3rd party apps with kudos on the CRM.

Cons

Project management app not as good when comparing to some other leading providers in that space.

I use Xero to manage my accounting needs for a small eCommerce retail business I started on the side. It's pretty easy to pull in all of my transactions and classify all of my expenses and revenues. I haven't used a lot of other accounting software, so can't compare it to others

Pros

- Easy to match account transactions to business transactions - Cloud-based, works on any device

Cons

- Requires account upgrade after a certain amount of transactions - Inventory management tools could be more robust.

Daily bank feeds make reconciliation easy. My accountant loves it. Bench wanted to charge me over $300 monthly and I currently pay $140 monthly. Xero delivers the same result for $30 monthly and only takes me an hour each month.

Cons

Would like to see better/more integrations geared towards e-commerce (e.g. Amazon marketplace merchants). Also, more flexibility with inventory management.

Cons

They don't support all banks :( And you can't really use it internationally - They do support most currencies but if you have banks with many nations, it gets difficult. They also don't support small banks (Monzo, Revolut etc if you're in Europe)

Perfecting your Xero (or QuickBooks) entries can take time away from growing your business. Thankfully, most accounting services are now cloud-based accounting software programs like Xero that help you handle financials without the hassle (i.e automation, rules, zapier integrations and more). Xero's easy-to-use software lets you automate repetitive accounting processes, reducing your accounting workload, so you can focus on the tasks that generate revenue for your company. They should have a free trial for you to test out to see if it is a good fit.

Pros

If you’re a small business owner, you know that outside of paying your employees and keeping the lights on, staying on top of accounting and taxes can be an absolute nightmare. Taking care of your finances is stressful enough as it is, and even simple tasks like sending out invoices can take hours to complete. But what if there was a solution that could improve your bottom line by automating your bookkeeping, billing and reporting? Well you have many choices, but two stick out as some of the most well known in the industry - Xero and quickbooks. Both Xero and Quickbooks online are both great. Honestly, just choose which one floats your boat as far as interface goes. Both are great accounting software. However your accountant may be more familiar with quickbooks

Cons

Not too many cons I can think of. Maybe they could be better with kit builds/ more inventory management features. (Quickbooks desktop might be best for that)

the accountants and bookkeepers seem to like it. Integrates with other applications and file management softwares.

Cons

If you are not financially minded, it can get a bit frustrating navigating it. MYOB is a lot easier and user friendly but MYOB does not integrate with many other products

A good alternative for small business bookkeeping

Businesses that use Xero should make sure their accountants know the software and should take the time to learn the proper procedures for using Xero on a daily basis.

Pros

Xero is a double entry accounting system that can accommodate both cash and accrual basis for most small businesses. It has great features such as fixed asset management, expense tracking, sales tax and inventory management. Payroll is available at no extra cost in higher levels. Unlimited users.

Cons

Could be easier to use with better dashboard. Mobile app needs improvement. Some reports need to be added.

Although Xero is good for small businesses but it fails to even cater for inventory for small businesses. When we bundle ad-ons with it, the solution becomes a bit expensive and there is no off-line version of Xero.
