Pros

I love the app and gives me accounting on the go. Helps me track invoices and profits with ease.
The ease of use and reputation are by far the greatest part of this product. In addition to this, the range of potential integrations is fantastic.
Really easy to submit expenses, categorise them and check the progress of you submitted expense - super easy to do all from the app.

Pros

Good for helping a team see what other team members are doing, and allowing work to be tracked effectively. Helps to keep deadlines in mind and on goal.
Helps you to keep a track of all your project activities and schedule all your tasks. The tool is easy to use for beginners and helps to understand its working with less time and great efficiency.
Extremely robust and powerful tool once fully understood. Fairly simple construction of charts and data visualization, and the ability to expand capabilities within the software.

Cons

There are no delivery notes/packing slips. They tout a "workaround" but be warned, it's exactly 10 extra clicks so it's really not an option if you need this feature.
Our main complaint is that Xero stopped doing payroll in 2018, so now you have to pay an additional fee to a payroll processor such as Gusto.
Changing accounting software from Xero is a horrible experience. They make it very difficult to pivot to other software.

Cons

To me this may be more important than planning as the lack of project visibility might put the project at risk more so than a poor plan.
The only dislike that i encountered in Microsoft Project, is that it is desktop-installed; other than that nothing.
Sometimes it gets confused. Also, sometimes working with multiple teams and multiple people per team, it has a hard time allocating resources.

Easy to Use package with lots of addons

Overall, with the available add-ons, it has significantly reduced our data entry time

Pros

Integrates well with adds on to provide more sophisticated reporting. Integration with AI products such as ReceiptBank and Approval Donkey also work well.

Cons

The project reports are not particularly good. There is more information in the project tabs than what you can obtain in the report which is disappointing.

Accounting software for small biz

Pros

Someone recommended I try this software. I went on the website, converted my data in less than an hour and was able to give it a test run, look at reports, dashboard, etc.

Cons

There are some limits - budgeting, fixed assets, and project accounting are not great for us.

Pros

I give thumbs up to the the fact that Xero has complex features for project accounting and financing. Managing cash outflow and inflow is another thing that I like.

Cons

It's hard to integrate Xero with external programs without IT knowhow.

Great accounting for the modern entrepreneur that is cloud based and wants insight to their company while providing the tools for their accountant to do thier job while removing the burden on the small entrepreneur form being burried in paper work :)

Pros

Yes this accounting software is really that easy to use and set up wih multiple companies. Entries, billing, full accounting management with great dashboard. Has 3rd party apps with kudos on the CRM.

Cons

Project management app not as good when comparing to some other leading providers in that space.

It allows me to forecast cashflow and being paperless is awesome!

Pros

I like the training functionality. They also keep you fully informed on new features and changes with quarterly updates that keep your certification up to date.

Cons

Within the Projects feature there isn't the ability to set your quote/project up in multi-currency. It has to be in your own country's currency - currently.

It makes our accounting breeze and our accountants can just simply access our accounts online.

Pros

It's so intuitive to use. Prior to Xero the accounting software was really hard to use. Xero really made accounting easy and they've kept improving the product over the years. Definitely a market leader.

Cons

oh god - I wish the Xero UX designers could work on improving Microsoft products as well. So many companies could learn from Xero about great customer experience.

Great for Small Business Accounting

We were able to easily record for expenses and raise invoices using mobile phones.

Pros

I could be able to integrate with acello software which we use for our project planning and client billing

Cons

The pricing was prohibitive/costly for us since we were a small business with remote teams and needed each person to account for their own expenses as separate users.

Modern, easy payroll

Slick service. Great for payroll does what I need for salary. Project tracking is easy but could be improved.

Pros

Being able to download pay slips is great. Hiding annualsalary is a huge plus now. Thank you! For project tracking, adding entries is super easy on web.

Cons

A way to add all the time up would be great (like a time calulator) instead of many micro entries. I have a window open to add my times together. An option to keep time entries project and task would help shen adding a new one from adding one already (save and add), or automatically do it. Wish searching projects when adding was easier and searched client as well as project. Search for task would also be a great addition. A 5min interval button would help me. I have ADHD so these improvements would help me in adding my daily entries. Android app isn't as easy to add entries.

Very good. Would recommend to agencies using Teamwork.

Pros

We use Teamwork for our project management and timekeeping. Xero integrates nicely with Teamwork allowing us to invoice our clients easily.

Cons

Sometimes payroll and sick and other leave calculations can be tricky causing confusion. But customer support are easy to get a hold of.

This enables users to work on a project from different places. Accounting has never been easier. This is far the best option available on the market. 2 words to describe it: Simple and easy!

Pros

This makes it easy for keeping all the the accounting information in order. Processing the tasks are so easy and fast. Accounting has never seemed more easy to do! Business owners and group members can easily work and see the progress in real time. Best on the market!

Cons

The only downside is the pricing. Because of the price range a lot of my team members can not afford it. If they make plans for young professionals then undoubtedly the users would increase drastically.

- Bank feeds are consistent, quick, and streamlined. Reconciling is a breeze! - Accessibility from app or web is sufficient for business needs - Worry free automation with integration of most business software on the market - Simple interface for quick use - Solid organization of transactions and customers - Invoice portal for customers is convenient and an added benefit

Cons

- Project feature is lacking functionality - Reconciliation of an employee expense and business reimbursement isn't exactly doable unless adding adjustment - Could use a little AI technology to recognize recurring bills and/or transactions - Doesn't incorporate pre-made legal notices for late payments or quote contracts compared to AND CO

Pros

Tracking makes seeing how every project/division is doing simple. It learns as you go and you can make your own rules for how to handle things. It just works for a small organisation but has the power to grow.

Cons

Half implemented solutions are released, customers are exposed to them before they are ready, Projects, New Expenses... Not as slick as it should be in some areas.

Almost makes accounts fun

Over all though I love xero - it's made my accounting much faster and because my accountant has access too , any challenges or questions on my product or project codes can be quickly resolved by sending her a note from within the system.

Pros

I love that xero does everything for both my businesses on the same dashboard - I can just toggle between the 2. The invoices look great and are well recieved by my corporate clients making me look professional and bigger than I am. The VAT is calculated for the quarter at the click of a button and I can even post directly to HMRC from within xero. Most of all though it tells me that I've done a good job each time I get my reconcilations done - which always makes me smile.

Cons

Sometimes there can be challenges with the bank feeds - when they're running at their best it's wonderful the accounts are updates in real time but sometimes they get a bit cranky and take ages to upload - I don't think it's all xeros fault - I think sometimes it's the software that does the connecting but either way, it's the only thing that sometimes causes me grief.

I switched from QB online to Xero and never looked back! This accounting sweet makes invoicing, quotes, and project management easy and FAST! It connects directly to my business bank and credit card accounts and is incredibly easy to reconcile all of my transactions.

Cons

Nothing! So far, I have no cons for Xero products.

Time saving in bank reconciliation

Pros

Auto import of bank transactions for simple, easy reconciliation. Very easy to set up and very flexible in the use of a standard chart of accounts or use your own.

Cons

Does not handle projects and/or jobs very well although with a bit of thought can work around. Don't like how contacts database can very easily get out of control by the automatic addition of new nonsense contacts created from bank transaction imports. Waiting for a Project/Job Costing module to be added. Payroll not as slick as rest of the accounting app.

Very simple and easy to use accounting software.

I am able to maintain simple accounting on a simple software.

Pros

I like Xero for its simplicity that I can teach any person without accounting background to maintain the book.

Cons

I don't like the fact that we are limited to 100 names in tracking. We are always in pursuit of new projects and therefore to keep track of project expenses is very important. Due to the limitation of # of names in Tracking, I am afraid we will have to switch to Quickbooks if and when we reach over 100 names in tracking. Customer Support is not in existence if you want to talk to a live person.

Best in Multi-currency accounting for SMB

Xero was the best choice back in 2015 (when no one gave multi-currency) and still is in 2021 (when there are some who do). I have now added another company to Xero and cannot imagine shifting to another platform....ever.

Pros

With most clients abroads, we find its best to bill them in their local currency. Luckily for us, Xero is there to help sort our books out and keep them in order. It integrates with many bank feeds & popular wallets/fintechs like PayPal, Payoneer & TransferWise so accounts are upto date - always. Another feature we really use is their tracking fields. Xero allows users to setup 2 tracking fields...

Cons

They have made some changes to their UI esp where invoices and expenses are concerned. Luckily for older users, expenses are still free however, for new users it isnt and each person filing expenses on it needs to pay a small fee. I think it should be free for a small number of users (atleast 2) and then charged.

Great Accounting Software for Not For Profit

I use Xero for my not-for-profit organization. We have a couple of fundraisers and a lot of transactions in short windows. Xero links with my bank, making cash reconciliation a breeze. I like the reports and can run them on a project basis, helping our Board of Directors understand how effective our fundraisers are. I like that it is online so I can use it anywhere. The expense reporting is good as well, though understanding how to allocate expenses to different fundraisers took some time. Fortunately, the help section is very robust. I recommend this for any small business or not-for-profit.

Pros

Xero makes cash reconciliation very easy.

Cons

Fixed assets has been a little bit clunky.

Pros

I used to be the marketing and accounts assistant for Expert360, and use Xero together with our accountant based on Pakistan. Xero makes it easy for us to send an invoice to our corporate, medium and small business clients. It allows us to view the overdue invoices, which enables us to follow-up on those payables. We were able to see the money that we had collected and the money that still needs to be collected. It also allowed us to track the payables to our consultants. Over all, Xero is an easy-to-use accounting software. It's user-friendly functions and features allows you to instantly view the cash flow of your business.

Cons

One thing that I noticed on the platform is it doesn't allow to create multiple entries from one company. Like we have client A and they have lots of projects with us. We wanted to create like client A1, A2, A3 in the contacts info so that we know who's the one in-charge for each project. But our accountant told us that it would appear in the invoice as client A1, A2, and A3 in the invoice instead...

Xero is very basic as an accounting program. The market to which it markets it has no understanding of, is, therefore, unable to address any questions or requests coming from businesses in these markets. Customer Service is appalling. Many requests that are essential to business have been open in some cases more than 5 years and they seem to only reply to requests posted online once a year. If you...

Pros

Relatively good online/mobile app.

Cons

Takes forever to respond to customer requests. Have very generic type responses when they eventually respond which could be a year later. Has features that are meant to implement open for more than 5 years. Not made for small business that deals with small to large enterprises. No Partial invoicing. Can't deal with different departments having different functions ie quotes to buying department, invoices to the financial department. There is no way to allocate contacts to these functions you need to a separate spreadsheet. No track record between quote and invoices, you have to open invoice and quote to know exactly which job belongs to which quote and invoice.
