Pros

I love the app and gives me accounting on the go. Helps me track invoices and profits with ease.
The ease of use and reputation are by far the greatest part of this product. In addition to this, the range of potential integrations is fantastic.
Really easy to submit expenses, categorise them and check the progress of you submitted expense - super easy to do all from the app.

Pros

The ease of scheduling new activities, its seamless integration into our website and effortless booking for our customers has been a winning combo.
Setting it up was super easy. The level of customization from email templates to booking flow is really impressive.
I like the all-inclusive feel of the check-out. I like the ability to customize emails, have waivers signed in the program itself and all the customer information tracked by booking.

Cons

There are no delivery notes/packing slips. They tout a "workaround" but be warned, it's exactly 10 extra clicks so it's really not an option if you need this feature.
Our main complaint is that Xero stopped doing payroll in 2018, so now you have to pay an additional fee to a payroll processor such as Gusto.
Changing accounting software from Xero is a horrible experience. They make it very difficult to pivot to other software.

Cons

Requests to speak to managers are ignored. Unless you call and call there is no movement on your concerns and some customer support representatives are downright rude.
Possibly fraudulent - definitely misrepresenting their service and product.
Does not have all the functionality I need. What I really disliked most about this company is the accounting department.

Easy to use, great solution for accounting needs of small businesses

Pros

There are more than enough features for most small businesses. Xero integrates with more 3rd party software and applications than any other I've used and the reporting feature is now standard for so many business that investors are used to the format.

Cons

Although the list of features is decent if your business grows and you need the more specific and complicated features of pro accounting software then there are a few limitations.

Good software, terrible support and company

General use of the software is good. The company and technical support made me consider going back to Quickbooks online. Instead I switched to Freshbooks. Great technical support. They answer within 4 rings. Very knowledgeable and patient. 10 out of 10 for support.

Pros

I previously used quickbooks pro, but found their product too expensive and the support was also not very good. I switched to Xero, because of the price and the quality of the software

Cons

Support is only via email. They initially respond within the promised time frame, but 9/10 times the answer is not relevant to the question asked. It's like they don't read the question, or the initial techs are inexperienced. So after wait on average 4 hours for a response, you have to wait long for a reply to any subsequent answer, which is 9/10 times not relevant to the question. So, in my experience...

First time working with Xero - pleasantly surprised

Using Xero correctly saves so much time, tasks that were taking the Business owner a long time to manually action are now being done in Xero in about a quarter of the time. He thinks i'm great!

Pros

Super easy to use, the Business owner of the Company gave me a quick '2 minute tour' of the basics of Xero & by the end of the day i felt confident in using it, I love the convert Purchase Orders to Bill capability.

Cons

Added the Projects add on & not sure it's all we'll need to be able to get reports that we want, may have to purchase a Reporting add on too.

Pros

Cannot register so I've no idea what the pros would be. Xero promises a lot. Is that a 'pro'? It promises a lot?

Cons

No telephone contact. Cannot migrate our accounts even using their 'movemybooks'. Dreadfully painful process

Pros

Xero is an accounting software that can be used by small business owners and accountants. The greatest pro of this software is its portability. It has an app which is available in android and iOS. Its app availability enabled me to bring work whenever I want as it can also be connected online. Xero’s features include finance management, expense tracking and many more. Xero is simple if you are familiar with the software. Input and output of data is clear. It is highly recommendable for any starting business.

Cons

I have found that complicated inputs are not applicable for Xero, but as far as for minor inputs, Xero is great. It is, although, advisable that hiring an accountant already familiar with the software can greatly increase the usage or lessen the probability of error whilst using Xero

Customer service reps from Xero are very pleasant and informative.

Pros

Ease of use--made for the everyday business owner in mind. Integrates with a great deal of accounting tools out there.

Cons

Although it is a pro about the software, its also somewhat a con--Xero is made for the everday business owner in mind. Not made for bookkeepers or accountants. Doesn't have the capability to JE to bank accounts, credit card accounts, A/R, A/P etc. Would like to see the ability to make report formatting to become more customized.

It took me a while, but I am a Xero convert!

When I first began using Xero, I had heard a lot about it and was skeptical. Surely, no software could be so "all that"! I was introduced to it by a colleague who has converted the whole of her mid-size accountancy practice to it, and literally within a day and a half (which did include watching some of the short but very clear tutorial videos) I was not only up and running, but felt confident using it, finding my way around it, locating and fixing errors etc. It's literally that simple and straightforward. It's also incredibly stable - I think in 3 years it's only been offline (to my knowledge) 3 times, each for a very short period. I've also not found ANY bugs so far - almost unheard of! - and the support is fantastic, even though it's online.

Pros

Provided it's set up properly, Xero is probably the most friendly accounting software - to non-accountants that is - of any I've ever come across. Back in the 90's, MYOB revolutionised accounting software for small business, but Xero takes it to a whole new level, by removing so much of the data entry work that takes time, leaves room for errors and is in general a pain, when you'd rather be - you know, running your business. With Xero, it's up to the individual operator how much they want to automate their accounting transactions; if you want to, you can use the really powerful, but still simple tools to do a lot of the legwork for you. If you prefer to do it more manually, that's OK too - it's still simple and very quick and easy to use.

Cons

Xero is constantly adding and refining its software. Inventory control is an area I'd like to see strengthened, but that's already way ahead of where it was a couple of years ago. Similarly processing payments in advance. But these are relatively small niggles which for the majority of small businesses don't present any issue.

Almost useless if you actually ship stuff for a business

We made the transition from Quickbooks PC, and initially all was good. However, as time went on, we found little (and not so little) things that Xero couldn't do. We looked on the user forum and found thousands of exasperated feature requests to sort out the same problems.stretching back many many years with no adequate response from Xero. They seem to be more interested in marketing and hoovering up new users than improving their product. In addition, they have made sure that transitioning back out of Xero to another platform is a massive PITA, so keeping the money flowing in as dissatisfied users cannot afford to risk their business accounting on another change of accounts package.

Pros

Relatively cheap for the quality of user interface. Integrates with a lot of Fin Tech and payment gateways. Attractive user interface

Cons

Lack of correct pro-forma invoicing Lack of email notifications when invoice is paid Lack of supplier reporting Poor inventory and stock handling No picking list/delivery note available Poor foreign currency handling Poor customer service and response to problems

It's been fairly easy to set up, much like other products, but Xero seems to have a deeper layer of functionality that I am very interested to explore too.

Pros

I've tried a few accounting products, and I've always come short somewhere along the workflow. So far Xero checks all the boxes. One major pro for me is the integration with payment gateways from my country, and tailored customer support from agents in my hometown.

Cons

I haven't run into anything yet. But I don't foresee it happening.

I've been pretty pleased with Xero for the last 4(? ish) years. Milestone development is slow, but day-to-day is reliable and functional.

Pros

Cloud based; Always available. Has most of the features I need. Mobile app is O.K but not brilliant.

Cons

Really frustrating when it goes down (not that often, but when it's not working you just have to sit, wait and hope... Doesn't fall back to any backup system). Seem to follow their own road map for features rather than pro-actively addressing user requirements.

Generally, this software is great and I would recommend that you look at this software when choosing an accounting software.

Pros

Xero has great training and customer service. The ease of use and the ability to get trained and work quickly is a big advantage. Xero can be a great option over QBO and pricing is good.

Cons

I had a client who lives in Missouri and had employees, I could not just use Xero because that state was not available at the time. Of course, there was an app I could use. The client did not like that he had to pay for an additional service. If you have food industry clients there is not a good app for food inventory for restaurants.

The software is easy to access to any other apps to use for tracking income expenses, and other finance aspects.

Cons

I just need to open the software to use instead of a manual spreadsheet. It doesn't consume your time because it's easy to use!

This software is cheaper than other higher quality software.

Cons

The quality of the software is not great. It is very easy to have errors and mistakes. There aren't many safeguards to stop this from happening. It also does not have very good reports.

Overall quite happy with this software but like every software it isn't perfect but gets the job done.

Pros

Easy to maneuver and find what you are looking for. Ability to have multiple entities linked to the one account, for example a subsidiary or management company.

Cons

Customer service or lack thereof. Reporting functionality is not great, you can get some add ons to Google Sheets that work but you also need to pay for those in addition.

Product is easy to use when it works. It's constantly not working though,

Cons

When you need help they only way to get ahold of customer service is thru their online portal. Expect to wait hours, days and even weeks to get a response. Don't hold your breath that the response will resolve your issues.

I'd rate this software 7/10.

Pros

One of the best accounting software including basic Inventory management, automated bill and receipt capturing. Nice functionality in reconciling bank accounts.

Cons

No live phone support, limited processing on bills and invoicing.

Love the software in it's entirety

Pros

Ease of use and plentiful features make this a well balanced software package.

Cons

Deployment was difficult and took a few days and tries to get it off the ground

AUSSIE WET BLASTING

Hi everybody I think XERO has saved my life , I can now read and understand my accounts I have got my debtors down to a good level, have money in the bank ( not a lot hard times ) also I have been able to deal with bad paying customers quickly and on top of that 2 of them have gone broke but I got my money long be for as XERO puts the bad ones in my face as soon as I turn it on. Do have 1 complaint can they - you at XERO use every day words as we are not Accountant's we do not use the terms Xero and the number people use and I do find I make mistakes as I don't sit on Xero or speak like an accountant all day long im just a small operator and do many things all day plain language would be great example money out money in tell me all I need to know . Thank you Rob Strother

Easy, Intuitive Software

Reliable + intuitive accounting software that just works.

Pros

Has been an intuitive experience. Able to reconcile transactions quickly and bank feeds are reliable (no need to reconnect type issues). Quick rules to auto-classify recurring transactions are nice time saver.

Cons

Not many concerns. Wish there was an annual discount. But overall serves our needs without problems.

Out of balance journal entries

When I used it, it was very simple to use. My primary complaint is when I left Xero in favor of Quickbooks. The process was beyond painful.

Pros

Xero is easy to use and is widely adopted. It has a nice UI and quite a few different integrations that make keeping it updated easier.

Cons

Changing accounting software from Xero is a horrible experience. They make it very difficult to pivot to other software.

Good All Around Alternative To Quickbooks

Powerful accounting software but still relatively easy to use compared to other accounting software, They also have a large ecosystem of 3rd party integrations.

Pros

Much easier to use than Quickbooks but still provides powerful accounting and bookkeeping features. Also offers more integrations than Quickbooks, which tends to wall off their software for the most part to keep you in their ecosystem. Provides a good balance of invoicing, expense tracking and accounting capabilities.

Cons

For some reason they still lack recurring payments on invoices, which keeps me using Freshbooks for invoicing. While it's easy to use, if you have never used accounting software, there is still a learning curve involved.

Worthful virtual accounting software

In genral it very useful cloud computing software platform for small and medium size firm & I am very satisfy with this software processiong and work.

Pros

1) It supports multiple tax rates & currencies. 2) Always updated. 3) Ability to talk to other cloud application (integrated). 4) Enable Anywhere access feature.

Cons

1) Less support from other countries like ireland. 2) Less usefull for lots of transaction 3) Tradition desktop software is cheaper than this software

Great functionality and support with one of the most intuitive interfaces

Solid alternative to any leading accounting software.

Pros

Xero overs over 500+ integrations that make any business owner's life easier, while allowing their business to run much more smoothly. The ease of use and learning curve are far superior to most of the competitors. If you are big on customer support, Xero will not disappoint.

Cons

While Xero does offer a mobile app, it could definitely use some work. Also, software updates seem to be few and far between.

Support if dreadful

I cannot recommend this product, if you needed to contact support for an urgent request you are more than likely going to be left completely unoperational.

Pros

An easy to use software that provides good basic features. Software is usually trouble free.

Cons

Customer support is virtually non existent. You need to navigate to an online form and once submitted you wait with no acknowledgement that your request has even been received. Wait time is measured in days - 3 days it took before our last support request was answered and then it was obvious the support case worker had very little understanding to the issue raised which.
