Clean, sleek and intuitive user interface. Lots of features without making the system complex. Fantastic integration with the bank.
Because it's cloud based there are certain disadvantages to non-cloud based accounting packages. Might not be suitable for ALL kinds of businesses.

The interface is very sleek and user-friendly. It provides all the basic stuff that a small business would need.
We occasionally have issues with connectivity to our bank accounts and their syncing. Would be great to have it manage inventory in more detail too.

What i like the most about this is, it is very easy to integrate it with your existing system and the support team for this is also very competent and helps if any issues arrises. They also have a lot of ways to filter transactions and see attached receipts with it
The only thing that they can approve is their UI, there is nothing bad with the current one, its just a bit old. Can upgrade and give new sleek look

The only benefit and reason I use Xero is because Client insisted because it integrates with his retail sales force application Magento.
Accounts receivable reports, Integration with Bill.com, ability to copy from invoice to PO, Bill and vice versa.
No actual bank reconciliation. No undeposited funds to combine more than one check when received from customer. When print checks to pay bills, lists all items instead of just the invoice amount and number on the check stub.

Set up automatic billing. Bill different clients for different business divisions without having to log out and back in.
Customer service is a help file only. You can find other accountants that use it to help you, but if they haven't solved the same problem as you have, they'll be clueless

Xero allows me to mange my finances, keep on top of my BAS requirements and bill paying.
Xero is an excellent product that as a first time user of bookkeeping software I was able to use immediately with no trouble. Xero integrates seamlessly with both my bank and other database software, so I have no trouble keeping up to date on all invoicing and billing and accounting requirements.
I don't have any negatives to say about this software. It does everything I need it to do, and can provide real time information to my accountant and bookeeper as it is in the cloud.

Xero makes company accounting clean and fairly easy. There are descriptions of sections you might not fully understand, which can help new users
Some UI elements could be improved, like the ability to add a new suppliers address when creating a bill (currently it is only possible after a new bill is created, adding two extra steps to the process). Other small UI issues exist, but overall it's very usable.

ease of recording time entries very useful, can see easily how many hours spent on each project and bill for them
when you log into the system to record your time, it doesn't take you straight to the current weeks and seems to take you to a random date, for me it is Dec 21!

One of the best accounting software including basic Inventory management, automated bill and receipt capturing. Nice functionality in reconciling bank accounts.
No live phone support, limited processing on bills and invoicing.

The ability to keep a record of company accounts on one easy to use platform along with intuitive tools like bill scanning and financial analysis is great for startups.
Lacks in certain areas especially when compared to other more robust accounting softwares that come at a price. But it is to be expected and most small businesses would be satisfied with the currently available features.

I can pay people easily, and get paid even easier. I can automate most of that using the API and that is what I love the most about them!
I can pay people what they need, and bill people what I need. I like the API interface with it as well. That is always a plus in my book.
I don't really like that they are based out of the US. It makes it harder to talk to someone higher up in the company with the hours that I keep.

9 out of 10. I used it for more than 3 years. I am used to it and know many of the details of the functionality. I feel confident and secure using the tool.
The easy way to change the invoice templates - which is very important from accounting point of view - especially when you work in the event business on a worldwide level and need to create different templates, depending in which country you will have the event (diff accounting and VAT rules apply).
When I worked with it, there wasn't easy way to see if a bill is reconciled automatically (had Singaporean account) - the accounting team needed to reconcile them manually.

Support is vital with cloud accounting software, you shouldn't have to wait for a month to resolve simple queries or send simple invoices
Integrates with lots of 3rd party apps and zapier to streamline workflows and automation, but nothing most webhooks couldn't do.
Really bad support. Support wont respond for up to 30 days and they'll continue to bill for an additional 30 days after your cancellation, which is unheard of in the age of saas.

Xero is a really user friendly accounting system, allowing you to stay on top of your business, without needing to be a qualified accountant! They've created step by step video's and an easy way to locate them regardless of which function you're using, and their support is fantastic - they always over elaborate (i.e. assume you're not a qualified accountant!) and share further information on each point. It's almost fun to use (in a geeky way!) and is really intuitive throughout each process. Their app makes it easy to photograph paper receipts while on the go - it's really conducive to proactive finance, letting you easily stay on top of invoices, sales, quotes and receipts. Highly recommended.

Using Xero correctly saves so much time, tasks that were taking the Business owner a long time to manually action are now being done in Xero in about a quarter of the time. He thinks i'm great!
Super easy to use, the Business owner of the Company gave me a quick '2 minute tour' of the basics of Xero & by the end of the day i felt confident in using it, I love the convert Purchase Orders to Bill capability.
Added the Projects add on & not sure it's all we'll need to be able to get reports that we want, may have to purchase a Reporting add on too.

Having used Xero since 2013, I am yet to find a better product. The software and the overall company have never missed a beat. They are continually adding features (see Hubdoc integration, transparent, have competitive pricing, and connect accountants with business (refer to Xerocon events).
Xero has everything for startup companies and small businesses. Their software is 10 out 10 on user interface. It was born in the cloud and continues to exceed Quickbooks by a long shot. Most everything Quickbooks has added to its software in the past 10 years, is because Xero did it first.
The software does not have a tax add-on when compared to Quickbooks (Intuit). They are plenty of integrations to solve this issue but it would be nice to have. Integrating bill payment is more difficult compared to Quickbooks as well.

Hard to list all the good feature about Xero! The product is super-easy to use and not difficult to set up. However, just because it is easy to set up doesn't mean that time and thought should not be put into the COA design for example, and which third-party products to use with Xero. Time spent here will repay you many times over.
There are always some areas that can be improved, but these are not critical. More varied and granular permissions would be good; better allocation of bill credit notes and ability to 'pay' these in a remittance would be nice.

It is incredibly user-friendly and intuitive. It makes filing taxes a breeze. Information entry and onboarding are made simple by the import feature for banking, contacts, etc. Regardless of prior expertise, anyone may easily comprehend the software's layout. One of the best cloud-based systems for small and medium-sized businesses, Xero is straightforward to learn and use but lacks customization options for its forms and modules. The process of integrating with a bank is simple and straightforward. One of the better instances I have seen is the amazing connection with the bank feed.
In contrast to how sleek the other modules are, I've found the payroll and spending section to be a little clumsy. Because Xero wants you to assign overpayments and unallocated funds to an invoice, dealing with them can be lumpy. The cost of Xero is a little high for us, but other than that, everything is OK. As a beginning business, pricing is quite crucial in the early stages.

pages don't load, error messages constantly, takes up to 5 attempts to save a bill. too expensive for the value, make sure you have plenty of time on your hands because most dont save and you have to remember to check what you need to redo

Xero is cloud-based accounting software that connects banks, accountants, management, and advisors from anywhere with any device with active internet. It performs all accounting tasks from preparing ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial statements to the management of payroll, taxation, bank reconciliation, and inventory. Online billing enables to send bill through email.
Xero manages the whole accounting of business straight forward. Particularly automating the process of bank reconciliation is amazing time saver, it connects to banks and credit cards. Moreover, it effectively and easily integrates with other cloud based software which enhances usability of Xero.
Process of bank reconciliation has been automated but the process got glitches causing bank feeds stopped and entity has to restore to importing bank statement manually which takes time and attempts more than once. Inventory management needs improvement. Customer support is not perfect comparatively. It is not user friendly for those who have little accounting knowledge.

My overall experience is that there are more cons then pros for me. I feel that to complete a simple Accounting tasks takes me longer in Xero because of the way it is set up.
The PO feature is nice. You can create a PO from an invoice. You cannot do that in Quickbooks online right now.
As an accountant, I do not like that all expenses have to be entered as a bill. I do not like how I cannot drill down on the P&L on what total expenses are, etc. I do not like it that I cannot see the GL impact of a transaction easily.
