With Xero we wanted an application to simplify and host our bookkeeping and accounting functions in an easy but reliable program. A program that had all of the necessary features and functionality for a full enterprise accounting system, o date Xero has met our expectations.
We have found the implementation and integration of Xero into our business, processes and workflow to be pretty seamless. The standard reporting package is useful and custom queries / analysis is pretty straight forward. We also really like the cloud based access that allows remote access almost anywhere.
Overall we don't have many Cons, but to make Xero better we'd like to see......Integration with a broader range of transitional apps would be great. Apps that track things like mileage travelled, POS (sales, credits, refunds) activity, pull invoices from regular suppliers / vendors (such as utilities).

I have had a positive experience with Xero. It is a great tool for managing finances and staying organized.
With Xero, I have been able to easily manage my finances, track income and expenses, and stay organized with its simple and intuitive interface. The reporting features are great, and the ability to connect to my bank accounts is a huge plus.
One downside to Xero is that it can be a bit pricey for small businesses. It also lacks some more advanced features that more expensive accounting software offers.

Xero has helped us reduce the amount of admin time we used to spend by automating and simplifying some of the most time consuming daily tasks. We love the ability to connect and reconcile our accounts, easily process payroll, sign up new staff and process credit card payments for better cashflow.
There's nothing I don't like about Xero. I'm just looking forward to more features and the ability to integrate with more external software in the future, increasing automation wherever possible.

It's a great idea, set up well and easy to learn. However, the practical disadvantages outweigh those benefits, timewise.
Bank feeds consistently drop out in one of my businesses. I understand that this is not a problem for all users, but when it is a problem it is a serious time-waster. There is no serious direct Xero customer support, just forums, and all the suggestions given there don't work. I waste on average an hour each day with this problem at the moment, some days much more. I am considering switching away from...

I paid a Xero partner to help me get set up and explain to me the basics I needed to know, and from there I have been able to work out the rest fairly easily. It's worth having the fundamentals set up, and there are many partners out there willing to help. I love that it gives me the independence to DIY my accounting, and I just pay my accountant each quarter to look over everything before I lodge my BAS to make sure everything looks right before lodgment. It has also given me the power to understand where my business stands from a financial standpoint - something I have often ignored when using other platforms due to the complexity behind them.
I wish there was a way to set up auto billing for clients.

Up until this week, the service has been fairly reliable, with problems faced by similar companies that rely on Yodlee bank feeds for data. They are getting ready to finish spinning off their US payroll service, and like most transitions, bugs caused problems. For my company, Payroll went down completely and unexpectedly at the beginning of November. Their entire payroll section is missing from...
Better than some of the other web-based double entry accounting systems, fairly fast, a good small company accounting package.
No way to contact them by phone. Despite many complaints and requests from others, they refuse. Their reason is that they can research the issue better before getting back to us. Baloney. When you need to talk to someone urgently, forget it.

Generally a very useful and cost effective solution to small business accounting. Online Vat returns make the process very easy and after getting use to all of the functions its an exceptionally clever program. You'll constantly find yourself discovering new features.
Its very easy to keep track of everything. Daily reconciliation keeps your books up to date all the time. Invoice creation and delivery is simple and effective. Also having an accountant who is a Xero Ambassador is very helpful!
Using custom documents and integration into a transport company can be difficult. I tried many times to get a delivery note that worked for me to no avail.

Overall experience was good and smooth. Initially understanding the entire system gave us a little bit of tough tie but eventually we adopted well.
Xero improved our business processes and enhanced our departmental efficiency. It has all the modules to cover our business needs and it's integrated features helped us take prompt effective business decisions.
It's just a bit expensive specifically when you've 600+ salespeople who's using this application at every moment to initiate quotes or process invoices.

Its quite good but not being able to run a sales report makes me wish i had used a different system.
Dashboard - seeing money in the bank, what need reconciling, debt collection, sending invoices, all works well
Very poor reporting, around sales There is no simple customer sales reports available. Quite ridiculous for a financial platform Its my view that they do not provide this as there are so many report providers in the marketplace with add ons to Xero for this, so they won't include it when you could go and pay $50/month to suscribe to another App to get the information that you have already in Xero, visible. If seeing sales reports is important to you, then you will need an add on or another program

Overall experience is smooth and very user-friendly. At first, we had some trouble to understand, how this system works. but eventually, our staff adopted the system well. No more confusion. System processes are very straight forward. Integration features are super cool. Ideal Accounting system for any type of business. Totally worth for your investment. Great user interface. When others suffer, Xero made us experts in Accounting and Financing.
This is a great system, because of Ease Of Use of it. Xero is a cloud based accounting system which will bring easy access and mobility to user at anytime from anywhere in the world. Mobile App is an another good way to track your invoices and payments while your are on the way. Cost is very reasonable when it compares with other competitors. We used Xero mainly for invoicing and Payroll. So far we didn't face any technical issues or other issues. customer support is great. with the Xero API Integration, we can linkup with almost any 3rd party system available like Google Services. Customizing Financial Reports has been easy with Xero Accounting System.
It needs more tutorials. Because this system is not very user-friendly with the people who has a little knowledge in accounting and financing. Customer Support also can be improved.

The recurring bill feature of xero is very easy to setup. It has corresponding placeholders that enables you to customize references and other information needed to easily identify the entries. You can choose the status of the recurring bill as well (draft, awaiting approval, awaiting payment). The option to choose frequency, due date, and end date provide flexibility when you setup the recurring bill.
It is best to get someone who is an expert to setup xero and train the users so that you can deploy it immediately and accurately.

Overall, with the available add-ons, it has significantly reduced our data entry time
Integrates well with adds on to provide more sophisticated reporting. Integration with AI products such as ReceiptBank and Approval Donkey also work well.
The project reports are not particularly good. There is more information in the project tabs than what you can obtain in the report which is disappointing.

Overall I can't imagine using different software. We briefly used Sage for payroll and it was too detailed and clunky, with Xero it was an easy setup and efficient process each time.
Simplicity and ease of use. You don't have to be a qualified accountant to be able to use it, but if you are, the whole system is very helpful and you can automate so much!
The support takes time to get your ticket answered but when it is, any follow-ups are quick.

They don’t listen to user feedback it’s Xero knows best just shut up and give me your money.
I used to love the bank reconciliation but they changed it and made it terrible with ugly fonts and large type it’s not functional and not user friendly and they won’t take feedback to change it back.
The bank reconciliation upgrade is terrible and the recent one to the contact manger is equally as bad.

Overall, really great! I'm still learning to use all the features of Xero, as it was previously our Accountant who was using it in it's entirety. So far, the Xero staff have been really helpful and accessible for support, which is key for me in choosing a software.
This software is really easy to use and navigate -- as someone without a background in accounting, I was able to figure it out quite easily.
There are some features that seem to be missing -- like editing the bank account that an already created invoice can be assigned to. It also seems to be less intuitive with regards to reconciliation when synced with the bank account -- each and every bank transaction needs to be reconciled, which is more work than lumping receivables together.

We love the intergrations with other cloud-based software that is a feature of Xero; the bank feeds make reconcilling a quicker process.
I love that Xero was designed from the ground up to be cloud-based. A number of years ago we were looking for an accounting solution which would enable our virtual team to access it. We were currently using Quickbooks, which had, at the time, very limited cloub-based capability. Xero looked great, was easy to use, and made it possible for our virtual team to work together.
We had to adjust some of the program for our non-profit. We had someone who was quite familiar with the program help us set it up, especially the bank feeds and integrating Receipt Bank. However compared to other implementations this one was easy and went smoothly.

We use Xero for all day to day accounting and financial reporting. It has been a wonderful tool for us. It is easy to use, even for the non-finance members of team, and it produces clean and easy to read reports that make reporting to various stakeholders very easy.
What I like most about Xero is the simplicity of it. I have used this in a multi location company and it has worked flawlessly. As well, I have trained many a non-finance person on Xero and they find it easy to pick up.
I think Xero is great for single jurisdiction, single currency companies. I think you need to improve the multi-currency and multi-jurisdiction functionality.

A great product that is very scalable to your business. Useful for both simple and more complex accounting needs. It’s widespread use also makes it easy to get help or work with professionals.
The software is easy to set up and use and really helps keep small business accounting under control in its basic package. In addition there is great room to grow all the way up to larger business sizes with the features available. Customizations are easy and the product is flexible
The payroll features are good but more difficult for contractor or casual employees.

La plataforma esta en constante mejora, lo que significa que a futuro podrá ser muy sólida en el mercado. Es de facil acceso y su interfaz es super ligera lo que hace que no requiera de mucha data para navegar por las diversas opciones del menú.
Es una plataforma práctica de usar, permite integrarse con otras plataformas como Stripe para mejorar procesos de cobranza y pagos. Es muy versatil y lo mejor de todo es que estan en constante mejora por parte del desarrollador creando nuevos estilos de reportes
Anteriormente tuve muchos problemas para importar facturas masivas ya que tenia un limite de carga, actualmente no sé si el error fue corregido, motivo por le cual se hizo una integración con Stripe para evitar este tipo de errores.

It was essential that the business implement a cloud-based accounting solution because of the work from home paradigm. The features of Xero are extensive enough to satisfy our needs.I like the software .
Prior to this, Quickbooks was used, which had very little cloud-based functionality. Our remote team was able to collaborate because to Xero's attractive design and simplicity of use.I adore how simple it is to reconcile transactions and sync bank feeds. I adore the rule feature that enables me to specify the correct COA for my everyday transactions.With its extremely business-oriented user interface and simplistic feel, I think Xero has successfully cornered a really attractive niche in the market. For the business owner, it makes accounting relatively enjoyable.
In the projects module, the use of tracking categories is a necessary evil. The projects area should be connected with other applications, such Expensify. A variety of rate cards in the projects section would be beneficial as well.

The overview / dashboard is great. Managing VAT returns is easy as well as keeping up to date with bills bills and invoices. It also has the ability to sync all our bank accounts and with most it has automatic update of transactions i.e dont have to import. Keeping up to date with how your business is performing and the recent budget feature is also great.
Ability to raise bills and invoices, reconcile transaction and to VAT returns. The general usability is also very easy.
A little more support when setting up. Some kind of push notifications either through desktop or the app when items are overdue. Maybe some more support videos on how to keep getting to know different or new parts of the system.

Easy to use, intuitive interface, seamless integration. Just too expensive.
Xero has a nice layout and is intuitive to use. Also integrates seamlessly with accountant - no more ugly spreadsheets! It's so helpful to be able to see my tax reports and balance sheets at a glance, throughout the year. I especially love the expenses app, where you can take photos of receipts with the phone camera, and the app will automatically log the expenses for you.
Xero is expensive compared to other cloud accounting software out there. Nowadays, most business banking apps offer basic bookkeeping & expenses functions. Plus you can get FreeAgent - another very good accounting software - for free when signing up to a business account with Natwest or Royal Bank of Scotland. For the above reasons, I'd say Xero is no longer a top choice for small businesses or sole traders on a modest budget.

Overall it has been solid. I like it but don't love it. Lots of little things that are hard to pin down. It's been almost a decade and the original reason was because we needed something online only and with a strong API. Not sure if I would pick xero today.
I like that they are online only, that was the biggest factor when deciding on the tool. I also liked that their API has almost total coverage, that was another big reason for us.
1. Their API is a little dated and seems to have silly ways to get things working 2. The system gets sluggish when there are years of data and millions of records (may just be our instance) 3. Not crazy about their reporting tools. They are pretty dated at this point and I rely on fathom or other reporting tools to slice and dice data

Very poor. My expectations were high after all the good things I had heard about this software but my experience was so bad that we migrated (for the second time) to QBO. It also has issues but there is great support and maybe they will make some of the changes we have requested?
XERO was recommended by our accountant and I assumed , incorrectly, that the account worked closely with the software. They do at the enterprise level with P&L, BS and ATO annual returns but not at the day-to-day transaction level.
Certainly not best-of-class and we ditched it after 6 months and switched to QuickBooks Online. XERO is simply not designed with small business needs taken in to account. Delivery dockets, which the majority of small service businesses use every day, is clumsy and very inefficient. Customer service is non-existent. You can post issues on XERO Central to your hearts content but there is no interest and less action.
